Modern video games has turned into scam market

- Overpriced consoles, controllers and games 

- They make overpriced movies and not games either way 

- You dont own the game due to DRM reasons 

 

So yeah. Video games are nowadays a scam. GOG website and PC is only one worth having at the moment. I got rid of Steam awhile ago.

edit: Or i own PS2 slim with PS1 and PS2 game library, but only console i own. I dont care if i sound like a angry boomer yelling at clouds but someone needs to explain this to me." If you cant own a game, if they overprice you for it." Then how is that NOT a scam? Just saying

PS2 games had copy protections on them as well, but the difference was we actually have a physical copy of those things. For how long? for as long as the disc remains readable, of course.

It kind of sucks that digital libraries are subject to the whim of an enterprise to shut down at any moment, and if they do you lose the complete lot. If 2 step verification fails upon sign in, say if your phone gets stolen or if your SIM card gets deactivated, you're also out of luck if they cannot or won't confirm your rightful ownership of your account.

Copyright law does not make a distinction between whether you illegally downloaded something that you also own a legitimate copy of or not, it's still illegal. So really you only pay for a license for the copy you obtained originally for personal use, no exceptions. DRM free copies of games from GOG sort of gets around that issue as you can make unlimited backups without limitation other than disk space, provided you don't distribute them.

Asmongold made a video. I dont like EU... but sometimes they do the right thing here and there. But yeah yknow how i feel about centralized government mixed with plutocrats. But.

Roblox all i hear is kids play it, i have no clue what it is about. But according to Asmongold it has a scam market called (Microtransactions) that EU is gonna push back on apparently

 

Now i did hear Ubisoft also has this in AC Shadows. (Which again proves why modern day gaming has lot of scam like tactics). Which is why i avoid DRM gaming or Steam.

Roblox does make money through microtransactions. That is true, however some of the good games either have little or no microtransactions. Also Roblox has the best multiplayer shooters. Better then what popular studios make, without any kernel level anti-cheat that other popular shooters use.

Honestly, one type of gaming industry that people overlook is the AA industry (not to be confused with the AAA), and hobbyist games (not to be confused with indie games). People in those 2 industry make good and interesting games, but most people talk about indie games being better than AAA, and ignoring AA and hobbyist games.

With the state of gaming going, it makes me glad that I mostly play games from the 2000s to early 2010s. Most aren't for nostalgia reasons (in fact, I was a baby in 2000s, and a kid with only a Wii in the 2010s), I played  a few fun PS2 games when I bought that console a few years back. Currently only have 5 PS2 games, and one is said to be bad, which is why I bought to make a game review for it (which I haven't started yet)
