Oh FINALLY a thread like these pertaining to music I may have an easier time to answer to!! I find it far easier to list albums than to list favourite songs lol

Here are a few I can think of, though there are others I will forget to list lol, really trying to narrow it down because I could be listing a LOT of stuff I really like or otherwise find really interesting or just plain solid and this could be a gigantic post so I'm gonna restrict it a lot lol

By Insomnium (melodic death metal): Winter's Gate
One album-long song. Masterpiece. Iconic. Cancel melodic death metal as a genre we have peaked

Swallow The Sun (melodic death/doom): The Morning Never Came, Hope, Plague of Butterflies, Songs of The North, When a Shadow is Forced into The Light, Moonflowers
Nah I struggled here because I like all their eras for different reasons lol :] they're ok...... I guess........ such a shame Moonflowers was their last album and they didn't release anything again ://////////

Draconian (gothic death/doom): Arcane Rain Fell, Sovran, Under a Godless Veil
Draconian are just soooo consistently good. Kings of melodic doom atm imo

Opeth (progressive death metal, prog rock): Ghost Reveries
Love Opeth in general but this album is such a perfect blend of the prog and the metal. Strangely enough despite not liking Newpeth before, their latest really reminds me of this one...

Shape of Despair (funeral doom): Monotony Fields
Funeral doom at its best. Fuck

My Dying Bride (melodic death/doom, gothic doom): Turn Loose The Swans
This is literally a fucking 90's death/doom classic. Nooooo dude don't run at Arron's first attempts at cleans this is iconic death/doom songwriting I promise

Agalloch (post metal, or whatever you want to call them idk): The Mantle
This is what an autumn walk in the woods on a mountain sounds like.

Etc etc if this was an "albums you find generally solid" we'd never see the end of this post
