So, here is what happened.

 

A few days ago I was browsing some sites looking for addons compatible with Gmod 13, and I found an addon claiming to be a realism mod. It was simply titled B1102R.zip I installed it, and strange things started happening immediately.

 

Sometimes, props disappear, and I'll find them later stacked. I wouldn't be alarmed if I wasn't playing on singleplayer. Another thing is that there is always a constant scratching noise behind me while playing. The stopsound command in the console does not appear to be helping, as the noise continues. I have searched everywhere, and I cannot find the source of the noise, whatever it may be.

 

I ended up loading train construct but noticed a jet black flaming version of Doctor Breen, repeating his opening speech like an absolute madman. I tried to use the NPCscene tool to make him stop, to no avail, so I killed him. At that point, the scratching noise came back and props started falling from the sky at seemingly random. No entities or sweps were appearing in my spawn menu, so I simply exited the game, that worked normally, at least.

 

I wanted to check back for feedback, but noticed that users commenting on the mod I downloaded were not mentioning what I was experiencing. When I asked the author of the page where I found the mod, he had no idea what B1102R was. He was just as clueless as I. I decided that for the sake of helping others who may have downloaded the mod, I should investigate further.

 

 

If anybody has experience with this mod, please speak up.

To sum it up, more strange noises and events I can't really describe. I was building inside and suddenly my weapons disappeared, I tried to find a way out, and that's when things got weird.

And knowing you, Harmonic, you'll probably lead us on with a few more videos and add a troll face at the end of one I mean, I Googled the file name B1102R.zip and the only result was this thread.

Furthermore, I've been using Source Engine stuff since 2009 and I've never ever even heard of an error resulting in quite cleanly rendered post-effect feed static (which is distinct visually and by audio from white noise, because it won't have tracking lines that go up and down, or left to right across the screen. The effect is supposed to be similar to mimicking CRT monitors or tvs.)

 

Props falling from the sky, I don't care who you are or what your computer is like; in Garry's Mod that would seem to be a scripted event or another player. Again, it's not something that "randomly happens" in Source Engine. Visual cracking is, but prop spawning is not.

 

Moreover, if you're having trouble with Garry's Mod, I'd recommend a diagnosis from Facepunch, Steam Community or perhaps getting a Steam Support ticket. Not the off topic section of a My Little Pony forum.

Have you considered uninstalling the addon? Gather save data you want to keep, first.

Didn't work?

Have you considered restoring your copy to vanilla settings, or uninstalling/reinstalling the game?

Didn't work?

Have you considered uninstalling/re-installing Steam?

 

The fact of the matter is that quite often, tech support will not be immediate and you'll just have to learn the virtue of patience.

I mean, this clearly isn't real. It's pretty convincing, though, which is one of the things which makes creepypastas good. You're a pretty good writer.

You were definitely right that this is a problem. I tried to uninstall it, but it would not let me. This worried me, so I did a full computer scan, apparently it installed something to my rootkit. Out of curiosity, I will keep looking further into this mod and it's removal, I'm going to reopen Garry's mod and check out which files are associated with it.
