I quickly whipped up a possible oath for the royal guard for my fic(and yes, it betrays my idealistic nature):

 

“What is your sworn duty?”

 

“To protect the innocent”

 

“and how do you intend to do so? What is your oath?”

 

“When they lay bare, I shall be their armor

 

When they lay defenceless, I shall be their shield

 

When they cannot fight, I shall be their sword

 

When they are without words, I shall be their voice”

 

“Who are you enemies?”

 

“Only those that would shed innocent blood”

 

“Very well, then repeat after me. Iurata tueri, mea vita est eis, I am a royal gaurd”
