Fluttershy perked up as soon as Twilight Sparkle started walking away. A pony had come out of the bushes, waiting for his dragon friend. "A pony!" Fluttershy exclaimed. "Does he talk? What's his name?" "Uh, I'm Spike. You?" Spike looked flattered that he was receiving so much attention. "My name's Fluttershy. Wow, a talking pony! So, uh, what do ponies talk about?" "Well, what do you want to hear?" "Absolutely everything." "Well, I started off as just a cute little foal..."

 

Season 1, Episode 7, Dragonshy.

 

"Oh, sure, I like all woodland creatures... Except... Ponies..." Fluttershy mumbled that last bit, but everybody still understood her. "But Spike is a pony." Twilight interjected, but it didn't seem to help her friend's mood. "Yes, well, he's not a big, fully grown, can-gobble-up dragons-in-one-quick-swing magic using unicorn pony!"

 

Season 2, Episode 3, Lesson Zero.

 

"Alright, Spike, what's first on our list?" Twilight handed the list to her pony friend, and he read it over. "Cupcakes!" He said, tossing the parchment in the air as he did so. The purple dragon giggled a bit, picked up the list, and they headed off to Sugarcube Corner.

 

Season 2, Episode 21, Dragon Quest.

 

"Am I a pony, or am I just a dragon?" Spike sighed, looking into the mirror, just staring at his own reflection.
