About this blog

Greetings and welcome to my second blog ever! :fimyay:

If you've been sticking around my MLP Forums' club, you might have seen my last post there which is related to Kid Nation. If you didn't see it, go give it a look, I promise it will be worth your time. Don't worry, if you didn't watch the 2 hour long video that I've posted the link to, as an extra. As long as you watched the first video made by JonTron, you'll be able to understand this blog. It is a lot shorter! :mlp_yeehaa:

So this topic left me so flabbergasted that I felt the need to make a blog to share my point of view on it! It's just my own opinion so if you disagree with me, it's okay! Again, if you didn't see my post, you'll have no idea what I'm talking about so it's better for you to check it out first. I'll leave the link to it bellow.

Before we start, I also want to state that I won't speak about the obvious lack of safety that those 40 kids have been facing in this reality TV show because, if I did, my blog would be 50 paragraphs long and I'd prefer to avoid it. It's obvious that Kid Nation was totally unreasonable in regard of the well being of children so I don't think my analysis of it would add anything special. It would just be me saying "Jonathan Karsh is such a meanie for stranding kids in a desert to survive by themselves". :pinkie-awkward:

So we'll skip that part of the process and, instead, focus on 3 aspects of this horrible situation that you might not have considered.

With that being said, let's dive into the topic of this blog! :dash-hoof:

First, I think it's important for somepony to finally claim that the producer of this TV show lied to us all, when he said that Bonanza was a town governed and managed by kids. Through out the series, no impactful decisions were literally taken by the children! Did they choose their government? No. Did they choose the economic system of the town? No! Did they choose how the tasks would be distributed among themselves? NO!!! All those crucial decisions, those choices so important for their survival, were taken by Jonathan Karsh who's goal was surely to make things worst! I mean, it's not possible he though those were the right choices! You want to know how bad his choices were? Here you go :

- The governing system is a dictatorship during the first half of the show which means that the kids were ruled by 4 other kids that they didn't elect. In addition, you'd think that those 4 kids are scouts or something like that but no! One of them is named Taylor and is just a 10 years old pageant queen! She knows nothing about survival or how to be a good leader! They just threw her in to be in charge of 40 infants. We'll speak more of how bad it went for Taylor later on. Spoiler alert, she had mental break downs. So we start off the most crucial days with hated leaders! Splendid! :adorkable:

- The economic system is based on capitalism with silver coins as the currency. Yes, the producer thought that surviving together wasn't already hard enough, so he attempted to divide them with money. The right choice would have been… I don't know! Communism! :rainbowdash-yolo:

It's a situation of survival, it's no time for money! Even if you hate communism with all your heart, you'll have to admit that capitalism was the worst choice possible in that case! It's not politic at all! You just don't need money to complicate their task! Okay, there's a big spoiler alert right bellow so don't look at it, if you're planning on watching the 2 hour long video or even the series itself!

Spoiler

In the last episode of Kid Nation, the children are finally free to do whatever they want. They instantly decide to get rid of the silver coins and instaure a communism system by sharing everything. The worst is that the title of the episode is "Now, we're going mad" or something like that. Excuse me? I know that this TV show was made by people who had a lot of money but is money really making you that blind? Those kids are surviving better without a financial system! :blink-rd:

- A book, written by adults to tell the 40 kids what they need to do, stated that they needed to divide themselves in 4 districts. What's this quote again? "Divide and conquer"? Yeah, I see that you've followed the wise words of the elders, Jonathan. Misfortunately, you're supposed to apply this to your opponents, not those you want to see thrive! Unless, you didn't want to see them thrive which would explain a looooot of things! Starting by WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU ALLOW A 10 YEAR OLD TO COOK FOR HIMSELF, WITHOUT ANY SUPERVISION?! :flutter-table-flip:

- Bonus! At some point in this horrible mistake of a show, the all mighty book of knowledge enlighten them with the real problem here… Religion! Of course, why didn't we think about it sooner?! Choosing a religion for the town will inevitably fix the problem of water frozen in the pipe system! No seriously, come on, Jonathan! You put a bunch of children with diverse cultures in a village and expect them to fight each others in the name of their gods. This is what you're doing! You think I can't see that? Surprisingly the kids are more mature about this than the adults and decide that everyone should be free to practice the religion they want and they all gather around a big fire to pray. Forgive me, my lord, for I have spoiled. :humblush:

Second thing on the list, Jimmy! You thought it was over? No! It's just the second aspect out of three! Jimmy is only 8 and an half years old, making him the youngest among the participants, and he's still the most rational out of the 40 kids and every adults concerned! His very first screen time is him saying one of the most intelligent quotes in the whole series! He states that he has no chance of survival! And later on, he states that he's way too young for this! Isn't that odd from the mouth of such a young person? Misfortunately, he left at the end of the first episode, since he knew what is good for him. Do you realize how much of a game changer it would have been to have him through out the whole series?! :double-shock:

And how can I not mention the way he rose his hand when the presenter asked if anyone wanted to leave? He rose it with a determination that I've never seen in an infant! I'm not the only one who saw it, JonTron also saw it! There was this towering man, not even kneeling in front of him to be at his level, who spoke to him and he didn't even hesitate a second! Maybe I'm making a lot out of nothing but do you realize the guts Jimmy had? At his age, I would have never had the courage to do what he did! The worst about it is that he got bullied later on for that! What the… the… the pony! :flutter-wonder:

Last but not least, Taylor! Remember when I spoke about Taylor earlier? One of the 4 unelected leaders of the town? Yeah, her! Well, she had the worst out of this experience! The producers willingly cut off her best moments only to show her worst and present her to the public as a tyran. This is the reason why I'll never watch Kid Nation. In this series, a 10 years old girl is being bullied by a big entertainment corporation who decided that it would make better content to have a villain. She's already having an hard time! Is the word "mercy" familiar to you?! Every single kid had their mental break downs and it's completely normal but her, she's pictured as a meanie for it, just because she takes the difficult decisions that nobody wants to take! :scoota-sad:

As an exemple, the 4 leaders had to choose a reward between a microwave and a bunch of pizzas. Of course, the kids wanted the pizzas but, for their needs, they required the microwave. So Taylor stepped up and said that they would go for the microwave and, of course, everyone hated her for that. Later on in the series, the kids say that being the leader doesn't give her the right to give them orders. Excuse me but this is the role of a leader. This is one of the non-sense things that kids would say because they don't want to work. However, the producer is making so she looks like a bossy tyran for making sure they don't starve. It's serious, they have starved many times during Kid Nation because of kids slacking off their duty to just… be kids… which is normal. So without Taylor, things would have been so much worst. I've made researches to find moments of Tyler being supposedly mean and I don't pretend to know her but she was only 10 years old with the responsibilities of an adult! :heynow:

She cried many times through out the series because of the weight of her responsibilities, responsibilities that she didn't really want to have but she was the only one able to make the right choices. A lot of stress was eating her from the inside, little by little. And you know what? I can make you believe that anyone is a baddie by taking events out of context, if I want to!

Let's do it with Silky! This horrible monster who keeps locking the door to where she stores dangerous potions! Me and Silverspark, we just want to put ourselves in great danger! That's all! But the worst she did is during the recent Ice Breaker Silky event! She… *fake sob*… Sorry, it's just hard for me… She forced us to give each others flowers… *make fake sobs*… So anyway! Silky is a meanie! Mother of Luna, I won't tag her because this is weird, without the context… JUST LIKE FOR TAYLOR!!! :pinkie-innocent:

For the records, this is a joke, okay? I just want to make sure you all understand that it was sarcastic. Silky is the most precious pink pegasus ever and whoever insults her will have to face one person! And this person is all of her friends, including me! :secret:

But the cherry on the cake is that Taylor was hated in medias! Full grown men were writing articles for the news, presenting her as the "b" word! I'm not kidding! Imagine, you went through 40 days of pure hell and you're returning home, thinking you'll be cheered and praised! Then, you realize that you've gone through all this just to be seen as a villain and loosing all your friends! Taylor must have been broken from this experience. In fact, to my knowledge, she never reached out to make interviews and it's understandable. :rarity-huh:

So what's the conclusion of this blog? I have no idea! Everything is so messed up! So I'll just show you the most rational meme I've found! :BornAgainBrony:
