Tour through town.
Yea, I was out on my bike today. But I remembered my camera this time.so I took some pics of a few interesting locations in my town.
Seeming most of the snow is gone, I was able to explore my town. Some stuff I found, was rather shocking...they're ripping up rail trails, to put housing developments on the land. A lot of people use these trails. Though I was also able to get a couple shots of our river lock system. and a couple historical buildings.
This is one of the trails. That tree line WAS right up beside that orange gate last year..
Here's another. there used to be a second bridge going over the road I took this pic on, which lead to another rail trail, but it's been gone for a few years.and they must've just installed those steel railings, as they weren't there last year. So it makes it a bit harder to ride your bike up and down the incline. You can see the first bridge in the background there.
Here's a few pics of the locks that are in our town. The river splits the entire town in two.
On the other side are the locks themselves, which allow boats to ascend or descend to the upper and lower portions of the river. It's basically an elevator for boats. The locks are over 100 years old and they have to be opened manually by a large handle in the ground. It takes 4 people to open just one gate. There are 3 gates in total.
That building on the other side of the river is the Pyjama factory. It's a pretty old building. It's seen it's fair share of fires and businesses. They're putting condos up there soon, not sure if they're tearing the building down totally or not.
That's a little bit about my town.
