You know something which is really just not cool? Getting an official warning over something you've already purchased and paid for.

I bought a parking permit at the beginning of the university semester. Said permit never arrived at my home. I don't know if it was lost in the post or never sent... irrelevant, anyway. I was told by university staff when I purchased it that I could use my printed receipt in lieu of the actual permit until it arrived. That was a few months ago.

Since it never did arrive, and I haven't had a chance to approach the university about it, I just kept using the receipt without incident.

Well, today I got an official warning.

Sure, I probably should have chased it up earlier... But it's hardly my fault I never received it, and I was following the instructions I was given by university staff.

At least it was a warning and not a fine... but I have to park there again tomorrow. I've sent an email about it already, but if I receive an actual fine tomorrow I will not be very happy.
