"Nebraska" ~ Movie

Oblivion

So as a select few people here may know I am from Nebraska (forgot if I ever told anyone), I moved here when I was about 9 years old because my grandparents went to live with my aunt and I also came a long as well. Well recently I went looking for a movie that took place in Nebraska just because you know, it's kinda fun watching a movie about a state that you live in, especially if it's an adventurous type of movie just to see all the plcaes they visit. Though I can say that that wasn't even close to the main plot of the movie.

Read the synopsis here as it is early in the morning and I REALLY don't feel like typing a whole summery at 2:am in the morning.

This movie does a great job of showing just how mean and greedy people are, and the true nature of people now days. People always pat you on the back and are your best friend when you have money, but once you fall down no one seems to be there for you. It also shows when you grow old and find out that you really haven't done much in life and just want to find something to cling on to. Like I said, I live with my grandparents so I can truly relate to a lot of what the move stands for. My grandmother at one point thought that she won 5000 dollars because of some raffle that she thought she won is some mall at some point. I kept telling her that she didn't win anything, but she didn't believe me and kept going on about the money that she was supposed to have won for months after. It is really sad to see people that you love dearly in your life start to become what many would call "senile" though really, how senile are some older people. They are classified as old and senile just because they want one more thing to cling onto in life, something that they can call theirs and pass on to their sons and grand childdren? Whats sad is that when you grow old your chances of dying increase and you realize that soon you will be no more and just wnat something more from life.

The movie by the end really did bring tears to my eyes, the guy at the end bought his father an air compressor and a truck which is really what the old guy realy wanted from the beginning of the movie. Now I'll admit that a lot will consider that a cheese fest, but I thought it was a pure feels moment, the old guy the whole time just wanted something to pass on to his sons, so when his time came he could die a happy man and be glad at the fact that he really did leave something behind.

It also does a great job at showing how the older generation think. Now days we are told from the time we are children that you really cannot trust anyone, everyone is out to get you. However old folks are genrally much more trusting of people than us young fols are, remeber those stories your grandpa told you about how back in his time people didn't lock their doors just because people back in the day usually left other peopls stuff alone? That can easly translate over to this move. The old man in the movie trusted just about everyone and despite being a little bit stuk up at times would give the shirt off his back to help someone, even his worst enemy.

Okay, this is going a bit rough so far (It's almost 2:30, leave mea alone!) Anyway, they really didn't do small towns or rural aeras any justice in the movie, they portrayed us all as a bunch of close minded rednecks that are out to burn people, really didn't apreciate that much, afterall I live out in the middle of no where and by a tiny little village. Yes, people can tend to be a bit close minded at times but most people are generally good people (or I am just very gullible). But in all honesty I am not ever planning on living in a big ole city.

Overview

So all in all it's not a very "exciting" movie but it has a very good message and a lot of feels if maybe a bit cheesy. So if you ever want to give it a go sometime then give it a watch (don't if you are already depressed) and I think that many people might find it very heartwarming.

So yea, don't know weather or not I really even knew what I was talking about in over have this blog but I was board and deicded and though "why the hell not".

Here, have an old country song by my favorite old country singer.

It was, not good for people with short attention spans, but an awesome message nonetheless. :)
