Reason For Your Hope 1 Peter 3:15
Hello everyone, this a new blog I made for the purpose of presenting Christian messages to those on the forums who are interested such matters. If any of you that read this have any questions you'd like to ask about God, or Jesus, or the Bible, etc. please feel free to send me a PM with your question(s) thank you.
In 1 Peter 3:15 Jesus says the following "But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect."
This is an immensely important command to all of us, to be able to understand, and voice why it is we have this hope that we receive through the Gospel. But often I find that if you ask someone "Why are you a Christian?" They will not tell you why, rather they will often give a description of how they became a Christian. This is not an answer to the question. In fact to the questioner, this would probably seem a very weak, near pointless response to his/her question.
"Always be prepared to give a reason." The word "Reason" is very important here, because what distinguishes things like superstition, and real philosophies, is that superstition breaks down at they "Why?" Jesus makes it very clear, if you cannot answer those who question you, why should they believe it?
So I'm not going to try to teach you everything I know about Theology in one blog post, rather I want to encourage you, if you are a Christian, familiarize yourself with things like the Bible, apologetics, theology, etc. Because with these you will be able to concisely and intellectually present, to people who ask you, the reasons for your hope in Christ.
