On Naming characters

I love making characters. I absolutely adore it. In fact, becoming a professional character designer/cartoon writer would be a dream come true! So why is it that naming my characters is so dang hard?

I've been working on a couple characters for a while now, and a story to go with them, but the fact that I can't place names to their faces creates a big roadblock in their development. Without names, they feel too generic. Too much like carbon-copies of the people or characters they're based on. In other words...

So, once again, I call to the mlpforums community of artists and creatives to help me out of this jam.

Without further ado, I present...What's-her-name and So-and-so:

As of yet, her visual design is just based off of a kid version of myself. I'd like her name to be relatively cute and energetic, but still strong, like her. I feel like her personality will change a little bit once she has a name. I don't object to her having an Italian name, as her parents are Italian (not native to Italy).
Anyways, she's energetic, adventurous, honest, silly, and true to herself, but still rather sensitive to what others think/say about her, and she cries easily. She doesn't mind being called "weird", though, as she thinks all the best people are weird in some way.
She loves cartoons and video games, but would give them up in a heartbeat in favour of a real adventure. She spends a lot of time in her imagination, playing out stories and making up games. She does well enough in school, but isn't really known for her intelligence. She loves dressing up in costumes, which makes Hallowe'en her favourite holiday, despite her fear of...well, scary things. She is very cautious, and although she likes adventures, is hyper-aware of the dangers that surround her, making her second-guess herself a lot. She will becoming surprisingly wise. Has absolutely no internal compass. Family is very important to her, and she's kind and compassionate towards others, although she's generally introverted. (Too much social interaction tires her out.) She can be shy around strangers, especially adults. She doesn't like change of any sort, and fears forgetting.
She's part of a dynamic duo with her brother (adopted).

The brother, also pictured, is a little less silly, and feels more comfortable around adults than he does with kids his own age. He feels like an outsider in his own family sometimes, especially when it comes to his older brother, but has a strong bond with his sister. (His mother died when he was still very young, so he doesn't remember her, and the family he grew up with is really his godparents' family). He likes most of the same things his sister likes, but not as passionately. He's never really had any close friends, but he certainly wouldn't object to them. He's clever, but sometimes thinks a little inside-the-box. His design is still in the works, as is his personality. Him and his sister work as a team, so there needs to be a bit of a contrast in their characters. (insider vs. outsider, book smart vs. social smart, feeling vs. thinking, etc. I don't want to put them in boxes based on their genders, though, which I fear I might be leaning towards. :/)

Anyways, any name suggestions are appreciated! Comments on their personalities would be super helpful, too. :D
