Education
"All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist as he grows up."
~Pablo Picasso
I am not against education, in fact I Love education, but the way we do it is terrible. School is killing creativity in kids.
"Creativity now is as important in education as literacy, and we should treat it with the same status."
~Ken Robinson
I just don't understand how this system of education is still in place around the world. For instance, I want to become a police officer when I graduate... So why am I being forced to take calculus? I believe schools should foster a child's talents and interests, not squander them. I believe music and art should be held at the same level as math and science. School's do not believe this. Asthestic arts (drama, art, writing, etc.) have all suffered tremendously in schools. They tell kids they'll never get jobs as an artist or a musician. If a kid is dancing to music in a school, instead of thinking, "oh let's teach him/her about dance and see if they'd be interested in pursuing that." They just call them hyper, shove pills down their throat and tell them to do their work. Our schools force kids to learn what they think they should learn, not what the child want's to learn. It sickens me to see this happen to kids.
