Chelsea Grin have been in the deathcore scene for years, and have built quite the fanbase. Fans were always praising Alex's screams and growls. The breakdowns were sick. The instrumentals were amazing. When they released "My Damnation" with Alex's changed vocal style, the fans grumbled. With their newest E.P., "Evolve," fans are grumbling even more due to the addition of Alex doing clean vocals. In my opinion, their new sound is better than their old sound. Don't get me wrong, I liked the breakdowns and everything, but they were becoming a cookie cutter deathcore band. With the new E.P., they kind of break away from the typical deathcore. With songs like "S.H.O.T" and "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" "Evolve" is solid. I'd give it five out of five stars.
