For some reason, I enjoy critiquing works of entertainment (mostly video games, movies, and cartoon episodes) and giving them a score on a scale of 1 to 10. Maybe it's a nerd thing. ANYWAYS, for the curious, here are my ratings for each episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Of course, they are subject to change, since I occasionally re-watch them.

Why, Celestia, Why?!

1 / 1.5 - Abysmal: It takes an amazing level of suckitude to earn this rating. A painful experience from start to end; these episodes have no redeeming factors, or if they do, these are completely shadowed by the bad. Stay away at all costs! (e.g. The Splinter, Season 6)

2 / 2.5 - Terrible: A tiny bit of enjoyment saves episodes like these from being utter horseapples, but still, they make me think what was going on in the writer's mind. (e.g. House Fancy, Season 6)

3 / 3.5 - Bad: These episodes have serious flaws which make them uncomfortable overall to watch. They have some good elements, but they are solidly outweighed by the bad. (e.g. A Pal for Gary, Season 7)

Meh...

4 / 4.5 - Poor: Not unbearable like the three above, but these episodes are dragged down by shoddy execution and/or noticeable flaws. A little tweaking might have saved these from the lower half of the scale. (e.g. Best Day Ever, Season 4)

5 / 5.5 - Average/Mediocre: The good and bad elements more or less cancel out. They're entertaining enough to keep me awake, and I'd go so far as to say they're worth watching at least one more time, but there's really nothing remarkable about these episodes. (e.g. Spy Buddies, Season 5)

6 / 6.5 - Above Average/Okay: These episodes are a step above the standard fare, and may even contain a few memorable moments, but they definitely could have been better. (e.g. Plankton!, Season 1)

I Like It!

7 / 7.5 - Good: Now we're getting into "would watch again" territory. While they may not be stunning classics due to a few flaws, I enjoyed these episodes and thought they were worth my time. (e.g. Sand Castles in the Sand, Season 6)

8 / 8.5 - Great: These are solid episodes with witty dialogue, good characterization, and some memorable moments. They are quite entertaining and are the standard fare for well-written shows. (e.g. Procrastination, Season 2)

9 - Awesome: Pretty much the qualifying score for "classics". They either have something that makes them stand out as even amongst the good stuff or they're just very well-executed. (e.g. Krusty Towers, Season 4)

The Best of the Best

9.5 - Fantastic/Excellent: These are the shining gems of a show. I would recommend anyone to watch these episodes, even if they're not fans of the show or cartoons in general. (e.g. Chocolate with Nuts, Season 3)

9.75 - Stellar: This is a special rating because it's the only one not divisible by 0.5. This rating exists because I'm very reluctant to give anything a perfect 10. This is for episodes which are very, very close to being masterpieces, but are not quite that level. Nonetheless, they are a must-watch because they exemplify the defining aspects of the show. (e.g. Wet Painters, Season 3)

10 - Masterpiece: It doesn't get any better than this. (Or if it does, it would only be in trivial ways.) It takes a whole lot of dedication and passion from the crew to pull off something deserving of this rating. Now, to be clear, nothing in the entertainment world is or will ever be perfect. However, these episodes represent the pinnacle of animation of its time. They are why I love cartoons. (e.g. Krusty Krab Training Video, Season 3)
