Physical Description
Nook Cranny’s coat and wings color is that of a light pink color. She has yellow eyes, a yellow mane and tail with lime green streaks. Her mane is long and she wears a large purple bow on top of her head. Her tail is long and swirly. She tends to wear purple flight googles, purple sweatbands on all four of her legs, and a striped purple flight scarf. However, whenever she is in film noir detective mode she will wear her detective outfit similar to Shadow Spade’s and instead of her flight scarf she’ll wear her magnifying glass around her neck.
I'm still thinking what her cutie mark should be. I have ideas. Just trying to figure out which one is the best fit for her.

Backstory
Born in Sidneigh, Haystralia to a pair of loving parents, Nook Cranny was the youngest of three children. But she was not the most mischievous. That title would have to belong to her sister, Junebug who was a bit of a childish prankster and had the nasty habit of teasing birds. Their father, Cloud Kicker is a weather pony who despite his old age still had a few tricks up his sleeve. Plus, he has experience and knowledge on his side. Their mother, Silver Bullet, on the other hoof, is a racer and a regular speed demon. Or rather she used to be, back in the day when she was a lot younger. She slowed down a lot since then.
But then racing and flying fast is kind of a family thing especially on Nook's mother's side. Speed and the need to fly fast is just in her blood. A lot of racers on Nook's mother's side of the family. Perhaps one of the more famous, well-known of these racers was none other than Jet Fusion, a super fast speedster that once led the Wonderbolts and did something that was once considered impossible: she produced a sonic rainboom. Oh how Nook desired to do the same, just to make her family proud.
An interesting thing about Nook's birth was the colors she was born with: a peach colored coat, a bright green mane and tail with yellow streaks in both, and yellow eyes. Her family and the doctors could not believe it! She was the spitting image of Jet Fusion! From that moment on, her family mistakenly believed that Nook would continue Jet's legacy as a great flier and as such get a cutie mark in flying and join the Wonderbolts. But things did not end up that way. Life is kind of funny like that: for years one may dream of doing this one particular thing only to end up doing something else.
In the beginning, Nook was super close to both her siblings despite the age difference. They would do all sorts of things together. Her older siblings always did make time to play with Nook and teach her things. It was Junebug that told Nook interesting facts about various insects while Storm Chaser taught Nook Astronomy and Astrology. Nook always found such subjects fascinating and appreciated her older siblings teaching her cool stuff even if she wasn't the best at the things they showed her. She still found them fun and interesting. This sadly went on for only a few more years. All of that changed in the course of one day when the little filly was only around eight years old and her older brother, Storm Chaser was eighteen.
Filly Nook whom had a terrible nightmare only the night before begged him not to go. She didn't want him to do it for she believed it too dangerous for back then she was such a cautious little filly and her nightmare was so very scary and it felt real. VERY real. But naturally no pony not even her own brother took her fears seriously for the little filly pulled this kind of stunt before. She tricked her whole family into thinking her sick, so that her big brother could stay home from work and play with her. Him being well...a storm chaser he often had some rather exciting tales to tell. Both of his sisters enjoyed hearing his stories. However, no pony was happy upon discovering that Nook was just playing hooky and wasn't really sick at all. So naturally Nook's family just thought she was crying wolf yet again. She really wasn't though, but sadly no pony believed her. And so it was Storm Chaser left to follow the storm as was his job to do so. For him chasing after storms even the big, dangerous ones was just another day at the office for him and his coworkers. No pony knew just how wrong they were until too late. Initially when Storm Chaser didn't come home the time he promised he'd be back, the family didn't worry too much save for little Nook Cranny who feared the worst. They just thought he got held up or had to stay a little longer. Boy were they wrong! By the time they began to worry they were told some pretty upsetting news by one of Storm's partners. According to Storm's coworker, Storm got lost in the storm. His partner claimed that she and the other survivors tried to save him, but the storm proved too great and none of the pegasi in the group were strong enough to save everypony. Nook didn't believe that and has never forgiven Storm's partner for that and ever since has blamed her for older brother's disappearance. But Nook has also blamed herself and the rest of her family! If they had only listened to her! If she wasn't so stupid as to have so foolishly cried wolf previously then maybe just maybe her older brother would still be alive. But no Storm was still very much alive. Just out there lost somewhere. She could feel it and so longed to prove it by finding him. Sadly though at the time she was considered too young and not nearly strong enough to take on such a perilous quest alone. However, the MPIs assured her and her family that Storm would be found and brought safely home. Nook hoped they would find him, but still somehow had her doubts. Even then she wasn't a very trusting pony. Sadly her worst fears were confirmed when not even the professional search and rescue ponies could find her brother. From that moment on she swore she would stop at nothing to find her brother herself.
Unfortunately, her brother going MIA was cause for her parents going all over protective on her and Junebug. In fact, she really couldn't go anywhere without their permission and certainly not alone; which was most frustrating indeed. Still, she understood where they were coming from. She just wished they weren't so strict. Things just got even worse when her parents started putting both her and Junebug through a series of flight tests and exercises. It wouldn't have been so bad if her parents didn't act like military drill sergeants forcing their daughters through boot camp! Initially, the girls banned together since they both hated it. That was until their parents began zeroing in on Nook specifically. They started giving her more training and lessons in flying than June often explaining it away as Nook being younger and therefore needing the extra attention. However, this did not stop June from becoming envious of her younger sister nor did it prevent her from thinking that all of her younger sister's extra attention was merely due to Nook being the spitting image of their famous ancestor. In fact, Junebug could not help, but think that had she too been born peach colored, green, and yellow then their parents would also train her just as hard.
Sadly, June allowed her jealousy to consume her and she began hanging out with her younger sis less and less. Poor Nook who took it to heart just thought that her own sister just didn't like her anymore. It was around this time that they visited their cousins' peach farm. They were earth ponies, but definitely not poor and very successful. So naturally Nook wanted to play with her cousins who were all her age or older. Unfortunately, June must have gotten to them before she could tell them her side of the story. But no matter how hard she tried to get involved in a play date they would just ignore her. Dejected, the little pegasus filly was then forced to hang out with the much more boring adults. They kept her pretty occupied with the helping of the chores and yet more training thanks to her obsessed parents who still seem to have it in their heads that they could teach her to become more like Jet. While this was all going on, Nook looked on with envy as her cousins and sister all got to play together and have fun while she was stuck performing menial earth pony chores. It wasn't until later that she discovered why her cousins were avoiding her. Her sister had apparently told them that she was hogging all of their parents love for herself. After explaining that just wasn't the case her cousins invited her to join them in their games. They wanted to exclude Junebug for her lies, but it was Nook that persuaded them to let her stay. After all, excluding her wouldn't help. Not when the reason for all her lying was due to envy. June apologized for her previous behavior and the two sisters made up.
However, her time spent with the adults was not a complete waste for it was during this time she discovered her talent and what she surely was meant to do with her life. She discovered as well as the adults that she has a natural knack for finding things. You see, her relatives sometimes would misplace things around the house and she would in turn would find them. Her gift started off small and then it just began to grow. Still, she did not get her cutie mark just yet. So maybe she needed to find something a bit more valuable than just missing ordinary, everyday objects. Nook was certainly one willing to try. She would never forget the look on her sister's face when she told her. Junebug looked so proud and happy for her. She wasn't mean at all. Ever since then, Nook would help her schoolmates find whatever they lost. She even went as far as setting up a lost and found booth for she was quite determined to earn her cutie mark in finding things and was more than willing to do whatever it took to get such a mark even if it went against what her parents wanted for her. They wanted their youngest daughter to get her cutie mark in flying. They had hoped that Junebug would have received her cutie mark in flying as well, but it was too late for her since she had already gotten hers around Nook's age for bug communication.
Then one day when Winter Wrap Up came it finally happened. A pegasus had lost track of a couple of stragglers from a flock of birds and returned to Haystralia empty hooded and with no idea how far back the stragglers were and where they may have ended up. Though still a young filly, Nook realized she might be the only one able to track down and return the missing birds safely home in time for spring, so she bravely volunteered to go after them. Understandably, the other adults didn’t think she could make the long, blizzardry journey alone and her parents didn’t much like the idea of their filly daughter going anywhere alone for so long. But they all agreed that Nook though young might still be their best chance at finding the lost birds, so luckily Junebug volunteered to accompany Nook on her mission and to keep an eye on her. After giving the feathers the returned geese had a long sniff, Nook saw strange pictures in her head. She described it as having a movie inside her head. More importantly, the movie gave her hints to the missing geese’s location.
After packing their saddlebags of everything they would need for the trip, the two sisters took off to save spring. Eventually the duo found the missing geese causing little Nook to receive her very own cutie mark! It was a magnifying glass symbolizing not only her unique ability to find lost things and ponies for that matter, but for her clairvoyance ability. They also came across a young unicorn colt around Nook’s age who is having problems with bullies in his school picking on him simply because he is having trouble controlling his speed magic; which has disastrous results for his parchments and quills. After leaving young Rapid with some good advice, he and Nook make a pact to remain friends and to see each other again. The two also became pen pals with Rapid Quill commenting that he really could use the extra practice if he ever hopes to become a great writer some day. The two sisters then return home just in time to save spring with the once missing geese in tow. Their city welcomed them back telling them what a great job they did and were impressed when they saw that the mission resulted in Nook Cranny getting her cutie mark. Everypony that is except curiously enough their own parents who were most disappointed that Nook had received her cutie mark in something unrelated to flying. Sadly, her parents disapproval sent the once optimistic yet always cautious little filly into a sea of depression. Things only grew worse when her parents continued to train her in vain.
A few years later she enlisted in the Wonderbolts Academy, yet another 'great' idea of her parents! Even so she wasn't a particularly bad student. She was just more than a little preoccupied with finding Storm Chaser than she was in her studies. Still, she was definitely a strong flier much like her ancestor and that they liked. What they didn't like was her constantly trying to locate her brother when she was supposed to be doing something else. Indeed, her beloved big brother was still out there somewhere lost and so very much alone. Despite all her best efforts even Nook has thus far been unable to locate him; which seems almost impossible considering how her clairvoyant abilities have increased so much since her youth. Indeed she has found many missing ponies and objects since first discovering her ability, but sadly not one has been her big bro.
Her superiors sympathized with her and appreciated her unique talents, but they constantly had to remind her not to let herself get so distracted. That she couldn't allow her emotions to get in the way of rational thinking. That she needed to see the big picture and not just obsess with 'minor' details. They also accused her of learning "too quickly" and being overambitious. Nook in turn often complained that her progress moved "too slowly." Even so with luck and hard work, Nook completed her training with flying colors and became a full fledged Wonderbolt. It didn't last. For better or for worse this path simply wasn't hers. Throughout her short time as a Wonderbolt she would constantly disobey orders in order to "play hero" as they called it. Although she really did have good intentions whenever doing so.
Sadly such actions tended to put not only herself in danger, but would often risk the very lives of her own teammates. Such as the time that she disobeyed a direct order to stand down and wait for backup during a monster attack. This time she would have obeyed, but when she saw a civilian pony trapped in its clutches she just lost it! She made the split second decision to save that pony at the cost of putting some of her teammates in the hospital. This wasn't the first time nor the last that she pulled a stunt like this. It was also around this time that the once modest pony became a huge egotist due to her great success and for finally winning her parents' approval. No doubt something had to be done. A decision needed to be made. Following a long discussion of what should be done about their latest overly ambitious, talented recruit, they well...they fired her. It was a decision not made lightly either. Naturally, Nook was upset and angry and accused them of being unjust! Even then they stood their ground and explained their reasons. But they understood the...stigma of being a fired Wonderbolt and offered to write her a stellar recommendation since they understood she was only trying to help. Understandably she still wasn't happy for she just knew how disappointed her parents will be upon learning how she lost her position in the Wonderbolts. She could hear it all now: all that money we spent on putting you through your Wonderbolt training; all that time we spent teaching you, training you as a filly; all that hard work down the drain! And why? Because you just had to be the hero and save the day, didn't you? Nook so was not looking forward to that!
Wanting to avoid her parents for as long as she possibly could she decided to remain in Cloudsdale. Also she needed to find new work, but even with these letters of recommendation who would hire her after learning she was fired from being a Wonderbolt?
Sadly, she was right and for once she wished she wasn't. She hoped none of her potential employers would find out, but when they did they refused to hire her feeling she would likely put them all at risk even at jobs where there was little risk to begin with. About to give up she came up with a plan. She opened up her own lost and found business with the simple yet effective motto: I can find anything! She opened one in Cloudsdale and one in Ponyville. Not only that, but she decided to become an MPI. She felt that with all the crazy villains running around Equestria really could use one especially when the Wonderbolts are slow to act.
And so she put her sewing skills to good use and created her own superhero costume and got herself some weapons and smoke bombs. With all that done, she was ready to take down the vile, criminal element! So look out fowl villains, there's a new hero in town and she is more than ready to get dangerous!

Personality
Nook Cranny is a very self-conscious pony that constantly pushes herself even far beyond her own limitations, out of feeling pressured to live up to her famous ancestor's name. She strives to become a great flyer like her ancestor, Jet Fusion and so she practices and trains really hard every chance she gets with the hopes that she will one day perform a perfect sonic rainboom. That and she fears that if she doesn't then she will let down her entire family and disgrace her family name. She really hates that she looks like Jet Fusion since she feels constantly judged by others and she has the constant fear that she is not good enough since her special talent is not in flying nor in weather control. As a result she feels like a disappointment and has some major self-esteem issues.
But on the flip side she is also very prideful. She has a way of hiding her insecurities by acting like everything in her life is A-ok even though it really isn’t. She does this by trying to find ways to lighten the mood either by trying to tell jokes, telling stories, or by showing off her aerial tricks. During her facade she is usually very excitable and hyper.
As she is Haystralian she speaks in a thick Haystralian accent and tends to use a lot of Haystralian slang. She also tends to act as though she were in a film noir mystery, has a habit of monologuing, and showing off.
Nook is also a very impatient, short-tempered pony. As such she has trouble standing still for too long nor does she take criticism too well. She simply does not know how to deal. Furthermore, she has an enormous ego and is pretty pretentious to boot. She is also prideful, arrogant, and overconfident. Her overconfidence, however, tends to land her in a heap of trouble.
And on the other side of the coin, she is a perfectionist, a people pleaser and a major control freak who not only strives to do her best, but tends to get flustered when others don't do the same. She is also the type that does not know how to ask for help due to her own stubbornness and pride. Preferring to do things solo and do things her own way, Nook isn’t much of a team player and as such she does not know how to work on a team. This was one of the reasons why she wasn’t cut out to be a Wonderbolt like her ancestor. What’s worse is she gets defensive whenever somepony points one of her weaknesses out. For example, if somepony accuses her of having a huge ego, she would say she doesn’t or that her ego is very small.
Nook despite her hyper competitive, show pony nature is very kind, caring, and protective. She is also brave, courageous, daring, and has a strong willingness to help others hence why she decided to become a detective and a lost and founder. She is only all too quick to defend those who cannot defend themselves. In fact, if she were to represent an element of harmony it would be perseverance since she is the type who never quits. She is the only one in her whole family who still believes that her brother is still out there; somewhere alive. She has never once stopped looking for him. She hopes to one day prove every pony else wrong and bring him safely home. Sadly, her refusal to give up comes at a price. Her never-ending search for her missing brother sometimes tends to interfere with her daily life.
As she is a detective she has a strong sense of justice and wants everything to be as fair as possible. As such she despises criminals and doesn’t completely believe in second chances due to having some severe trust issues. She is distrustful towards those with dark, criminal pasts because she believes it will not take much to push them back towards the side of villainy since they have already had a taste for it. In fact, according to her, “Once a criminal. Always a criminal.” Furthermore, she firmly believes that criminals only choose the path of villainy because they are not intelligent enough to do anything more with their sad, pathetic lives. In her mind, if they were actually intelligent they would have used their talents for the betterment of all instead of for just themselves. Her rather extremist views sometimes clouds her own judgment often causing her to take matters into her own hooves. She usually does this by dressing up in a vigilante costume and hunting down criminals herself under the guise of Nightwing and bring them to justice. Her actions and beliefs likely cause her to butt heads with criminals and law abiding citizens alike.
However, as brave as she is, she is still extremely claustrophobic, fears losing control, and fears failure. Mimes also creep her out to a certain degree.
