• Physical Description

  A light brown earth pony with long black mane and tail and deep blue eyes. His body structure and muscles are less developed than average, making him more lighter and frailer than most of his kind.

  He always carry a pair of rectangular glasses with dark frame and a laurel wreath on his head.

• Backstory

  Laurel Crown is born from the little town of Coltbridge, ten minutes from Manehattan by train, from a loving and caring family who, despite being busy with their jobs, always tried their hardest to keep their colt safe and sound with the help of household. Unlike most ponies of his tribe, isn't very strong or powerful, but his curiosity and thirst for knowledge led him to become an intelligent pony, always keen to learn something new everyday by reading and analyze everything he sees.

  But just because he grew safely inside the manor doesn't mean the same thing when he had his first experience outside the outskirts of Coltbridge, where his life would take a radical change.During a brief period in another school, he got bullied by his own peers and mocked for being an egghead. Consequently he didn't earn many friends due to social anxiety stemmed from being harassed and became shy and self-secluded, taking refuge in books.
  When he came back home, he turned into a seemingly different pony from before: timid, self-doubting and always struggling to make new acquaintances, making his path to become a professor very difficult for him.
  
  Under the suggestion of his psychologist, and with approval from his family, he transfers to Ponyville to live in a friendlier, healthier environment in the hopes of making enough friends capable to help him resolve the trauma lurking inside and getting healed from his wounds forever. 
   

• Personality

  On the surface side, he presents himself as kind, well-mannered and polite. He finds more comfortable to be with friends or peers he can trust than being in a group of many ponies. In the latter case, he tends to be taciturn, trying to speak when it is most appropriate and by being logical.
  Being a soft pony, it means he relies a lot on those who can help or defend him from any kind of problem or danger that may make him uncomfortable or nervous.

  On a deeper level of his personality, he's affected by impostor syndrome and self-handicap due to the psychological trauma for being bullied due to his intelligence and logical approach. In the worst case scenarios, he may even attempt to act cool or being better than he really is and/or turns jealous when somepony else gets praise for doing something (even if it's their specialty). 

  According to a psychological report, it is stated that "[He] tries to look or act cool in response to people who are better than him, according to his perception of coolness or other factors, to hide his insecurities. In the worst case scenarios, he will seek moral or mental or physical superiority even if the applicable methods could or would hurt those in proximity, unbeknownst to him of the consequences until he realizes what deed he has done, spiraling into a state of depression and self-hatred where outside support is needed. Especially those from creatures he developed a keen bond of friendship and who he can trust."

  In broader terms, this subtle but persistent trauma make him doubt if himself, feeling "inferior" when compared to a friend and forces to prove himself to be a competent pony. Sometimes he may act irrational in a desperate need to be "superior" to somepony, only to realize it soon after and acting very hard on himself. He dubbed said state of mind as "The Windigo Inside" to rationalize it.
  Due to this state, where he is aware of it but still struggle to self-contain it, he can be seen as a sweet and gentle pony, who's very sensible to the point of needing support from his friends.
