• Backstory

  In Equestrian history, hybrids are not unheard of—pony-griffons, pony-deer, even the rare pony-yak. But the rarest of all are pegacorns, hybrids of two pony races. Thought to be caused by a rare genetic mutation, pegacorns look similar to alicorns with minor differences. These include normal manes and tails, only slightly taller average height (as opposed to an alicorn's rather noticeable height difference), and the inability to use either race's ability to a meaningful degree. The mixing of two magical types dilutes pegacorn magic. Thus, even the most skilled pegacorns can only cast the simplest spells and fly at a level comparable to the average pegasus child. Because of their rarity, however, many ponies confuse pegacorns for true alicorns, which can be rather awkward.

  Starry Point is a member of this legendary subrace. Born to Mill Stone and Golden Gate, a female unicorn and a male pegasus, respectively, she had a relatively normal fillyhood. Her unusual appearance compared to her peers, however, led her to study medicine and biology in order to understand it. This interest became a real hobby for her, one she would pursue into adulthood.  When she came of age, she went to Canterlot for four years to get a degree in Medical Science. Starry did well in school, her dedication pulling her through many tense times at college. After earning her degree, she returned to Ponyville and got a job as a doctor's assistant at the Ponyville hospital. However, the crime issue in Ponyville, especially at night, concerned her. After one of her friends was nearly beaten to death, she took to her medical knowledge in order to protect others from the fear of the night. Her new persona was the Doctor, a black-robed vigilante whose raven-beaked mask and wide-brimmed hat gave her the appearance of a revived plague doctor, come to cure the town of its problems.

  Starry Point is kind and polite for the most part, but she often acts irrationally when her emotions get the better of her, and it is easy to push her buttons. She has a short temper but lots of patience, and she is persistent in completing her goals.
