  Mariposa has been living in Cloudsdale all her life with her little sister Gypsy and their parents Painted Lady and Mourning Cloak. She discovered her special talent at the expected age, and has been committed to  Entomology ever since. She visits Ponyville whenever she has to run any errands, which was how she met Emerald Heart and her other friends.
