Adding new sections to the site won't incur any downtime. It's just a bunch of buttons and panels in the ACP.

 

I for one would support just more catagories in general. I can honestly see the SC Courner getting clogged with thousands of topics, and the rest only having a few hundred.

 

And RPs do not deserve to be grouped with regular forum games. If more people who love RPs come here, that could just lead to a mess. Thats the biggest problem I see with the current grouping.

 

The only reason we don't have a ton of categories all over the place is because we're still a very new forum, and keeping the discussion condensed to as few sections as possible will help make the place look more active. That said, separating FiM-related discussion from general pony discussion is a good idea, and I'll put that into effect.

 

If you do start up an RP forum, you should provide a separate OC forum. That way, every user can devote a thread to their character(s) instead of the confusing mish-mash a "Post your own OC in THIS thread" would generate.

 

You mean a forum where people can just post a "this is my OC" thread? I think the tagging/prefixing system could help us out there (though there is a mod for IP.Board I could install that will make that system about 10x more effective). Let's see if we actually get any good RP's going first, though - as I said, I don't want to spread our activity too thin over too many sections.

I think there really does need to be a forum for non-pony because non-pony threads will come up but some people would rather not go through them. That's just my opinion, though.

 

We will most definitely need a non-pony discussion section. I like Cake Pops's idea of calling it the Everfree Forest.

Please keep it on topic, guys. Sidebaring off a bit and posting pony pics is cool, but this thread was just about derailed.

Spike and Rarity are both reserved names. So nopony gets them unless Kurt or I give 'em to you.

 

We don't have a Rarity, but we do have a Lady Rarity. If the username filter lets you register a name, you're free to have it unless an admin personally objects to it (we might've forgotten to reserve something, or somepony might've bypassed the filter).

Great to see our first art post here! I should note, however, that Octavia's Hall is designed for you to start a new topic for every drawing you make so people can comment on it all they want. But since you've started a topic about, well, your entire DA account, I'll comment on that instead.

 

Your pony art's quite impressive. Maybe it's just because I'm not exactly the greatest artist myself, but even your first drawing looks surprisingly close to the FiM style. I really like the direction your style developed in afterwards - the proportions and lineart look just like the show, but the gradiented colouring adds a very neat depth effect to your ponies.

 

Fluttershy's little flower is just precious.

 

Keep up the great work, and do share more of your drawings with us in the future!

Welcome, Crispy! I see you came here from Equestria Daily, so it's nice to see a fresh face (a lot of our first members are from 3DS Forums, since that's where the idea for MLP Forums began). I do have a mass email on track for tomorrow that's gonna go out to over 200 people who pre-registered before we launched, but it's awesome to see people finding this place before that's even been sent. On the note of Minecraft, I wanted to mention that I plan to have an official MLP Forums Minecraft server someday, running with the same RAID10 drive array, 8-core Xeon, and 100 Mb uplink as this forum. To conserve server resources, it may turn out to be a server shared between MLP Forums and TheWiiU.com, unless there is a good way to manage multiple worlds with only one Minecraft process.

I don't know if you can implent this chatbox like you do for Wii U Forums or 3DSforums. It would be great if you can do that for rest of whole MLP bronies, and I like to talk all of bronies so ya know right?

 

Kurt and I definitely plan to add a chatroom here eventually, but we want to keep all the content in the forums themselves for now. A chatroom this early on in a forum's life could have lethal effects on our activity level as a community.

 

But we do have IP.Chat's files in place and ready to go for when the day comes. All it would take us to add a chatroom is one click on that "Install" button.

 

FYI, IP.Chat is the same chat solution I have in place on TheWiiU.com. It's just as smooth and easy to use as the rest of IP.Board, supports private chats, and is free for up to 5 users. Depending on how much use it gets, I may upgrade it to the 20-user plan. But don't count on it at least for a few weeks.

It's cool to hear that your family doesn't care about you being a brony. My mom thinks it's a bit childish (and my sister thinks it's very childish), and they repeat their thoughts to me every now and then. But they, too, sorta stopped caring after I told them about MLP Forums.

I'm one of the two founders of MLP Forums, and am our server admin/webhost/general tech support guy. I don't remember exactly when I first got into My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, but I know I decided to check the show out some time after it seemingly took over my other forum. I was hooked after just two episodes - and next thing you know, here we are with MLP Forums.

Twilight's my favourite pony mostly because she reminds me very much of myself. She's always trying to find reasonable, scientific answers to everything, enjoys taking on leadership roles, and has an insatiable appetite for knowledge. I myself am an ambitious high school student (currently in grade 11) with dreams of becoming a great programmer. I've always been fascinated by science and technology, and used to read encyclopedias for fun when I was little.

I hope you all enjoy being part of this forum as much as Kurtiss and I enjoyed creating it. It may look a little empty now, but that's only because we're still quite fresh. Whether you found us early on during our pre-registration campaign or just now, it's great to have you here and I look forward to building a great community with you all.
