My mom asked me for a poster of a custom pony, so I designed and painted this:

She's thinking about getting me a Wonderbolts hoodie. PONY CHRISTMAS ARE GO! Sadly...Dad's getting a Spiderman poster and fiancee is getting a ushanka (er... however its spelled... Russian fluffy hat!)

I still can't believe how much time looks like it's been spent on this...it's amazing, honestly.

It went by rather smoothly, actually. I think I spent like 2 hours on the line art (If even that) and then 3 hours last night and 6 hours today. So no more that 10-11 hours I think! One of my longest, but definitely worth the effort! I realized that my signature fell off the remake so I threw a quick one on there. I don't mind if you print it without or with, but I thought it should at least be complete! XD

You know, my birthday is coming up in like...what 4 days? 

And I think this may just be the best present I have ever had.

You're not embarrassing us by not having merch. In fact, I think you'd be more embarrassed if a non-brony friend came over and saw MLP stuff in your room. That would be kind of hard to explain...

Meh, I have TONS of non-brony friends (Including my roommate) who come over and TRY to get my goat about it. I usually just say "Hey, it's what makes me happy." and then ignore them. Only time I ever stand up is when they accuse me of being a clopper and what not, to which I reply "So because I like something means I'm sexually attracted to it? I guess you spend your Sundays beating it to sweaty men playing grab-ass for a misshapen ball. Yeah, I'm the 'gay' one."

That USUALLY shuts them up.

This isn't Rarity, it's my friends OC Blizzard Gale... and every time I post a painting of her I get this. I could point out the number of differences, but I'm thankful for the compliments. 

What program are you using? There is a curve tool on a lot of programs (Paint tool sai also allows you to adjust the weight and pressure and such of a line).

 

This looks awesome! The shading is really nice, I'd say the only thing that looks off is the wings, they look a bit flimsy to me.

Photoshop CS3. I just installed SAI and both, no matter what resolution or settings I try create a very sharp artifacting in every curve. It's possible I just don't have a steady enough hand... but seriously I can't make the most basic shape look not pixely or not shitty on either program no matter what tool or how hard I try. I've messed with illustrator, but I don't have the patience for that...

So I've been messing around a lot with digital art. I usually hand draw lineart than paint over it, but I've been practicing doing full compositions with it. I can't seem to get very smooth lines, probably because I have a very sketchy art style. I wish I knew how to get the straight smooth, almost vectored looking lines that it seems even the most novice digital artist can achieve. Anyway, I did this tonight as a request for a friend. Gimme some feedback!

Last night I did a live stream of what I thought would mostly be me either just messing around or working on some non pony commissions while pony music played. What ended up happening though, was me discovering new ways to draw with my tablet, and the results I feel were pretty okay. Tell me what you think! 

This one was a request for a friend and was done a little differently than the other two. More of a painting, I was also challenged to add a background to the image, something I almost NEVER do, and something I feel I did okay with for a first time experimenting.

This one was a concept for a friends' OC. I drew this one a little more traditionally and in a way that allowed for some speed.

And finally, this was a quick one for a friend who waited patiently for a drawing of his OC. It's meh, but I got it done in about 45 minutes so I was happy about that.

That's really good. What kind of paint did you use? What was the inspiration for this painting. I'd really like to see the speed paint when you put it up.

It's a digital painting in Photoshop, the inspiration being wanting to make new friends and push myself to learn and practice new techniques. I'll be sure to link it if and when it goes live!

I really like how the mane was done. Looks all shiny and nice. The shading also looks nice in the mane and tail. Very nice job, I like it.

Paul Schneider couldn't pull off that beard. I'm thinking more Paul Giamatti. 

That is a great comic.  Very nicely drawn, and it looks to be a good start to a story. I also laughed pretty hard at their expressions when they found out.

i would love to!  the unfortunate part is well, me getting to my materials, and getting things done on time.  im god-awful at starting something and never finishing it

Oh I am desperately guilt of that as well. I figured teammates and fans will force me to maintain some kind of consistent schedule. I'm the same way with materials, that's why I've just started using whatever I can. Most of my art is copy paper with a mechanical pencil or a ball-point pen I got from the bank, then photographed from my cell-phone and cleaned up in photoshop. I AM THE HOBO OF ARTISTS!

I think your work is FANTASTIC! I love your style and seeing the underlying method is already giving me some more ideas of things to try with my own art! I'd be kinda curious if you might be interested in collaborating on something later on! I think our art styles may blend nicely!

i actually really love teh way this is layed out, especially the scene when he opens his eyes, and through the glasses? great! i also like how you only coloured the last panel. great way to separate and break it.

In the picture with the snow angels the underlines of Kat's eyes combine with the line of her mouth makes it look as if she's chewing.

In the picture of her shoving snow in Drew's face her closed eye could curve downwards a bit more towards the nose.

 

I actually prefer the black and white, though I imagine that shading must be tedious.

One thing about this is that it was drawn in about the span of 4 days. Throughout the illustration process, my art style changed significantly, and I have no idea why, nor am I complaining! XD There are little things here and there, but even in major releases there are. Also, Kat's face is supposed to be a little round, something that very few of the frames managed to capture. A lot of these drawings were first attempts for expressions and poses that came out as passable so I just went with it. 

I think the comics will probably be a majority black and white, as the shading is actually pretty easy for me, and the coloring requires me to use some pretty unorthodox techniques. However...

well i could be a "colorist" though i do have an unorthodox way of shading in color if you want me to show examples of my coloring skills just ask.

Well I'd be happy to let you take a crack at coloring something from this. If you want I can send you a raw of one of the frames or something and we'll see what you can do!

Why did I lol slightly at that? But, anyway, nice comic. It has very good art. I love it! Can't wait to see more, I bet they'll be as good as the first.

I would hope you would 'lol' at least a little! I hope to mix in a bit more humor and intrigue in coming pages, as this one is just to set the stage!

Just some random D'aww I did of my fiancee. She seems to have trouble sneezing, which comes out to be something more like someone squeaking "PiCHUU" rather than actually sneezing. Show her adorableness some love!

So basically here's the thing, i'm 17 years old as of this post, will be 18 in around a month.

It's recently come to my attention, that despite the fact i'm obviously a brony (would I be here otherwise?) I actually have nothing to show for it, and im not even sure what I should have.

 

My mother came home the other day and brought my little sister one of the blind bag ponies that you can get, (I believe it was Golden Harvest?) i've also seen several YouTube videos of bronies showing their collections, posters, Lyra plushies etc. and this got me thinking...why dont I have ANYTHING pony?

I'm a HUGE fan of the Halo series, and I have Halo posters all over my room. I have collectors edition games, keyrings etc, and im just as big a fan (if not bigger *gulp*) of MLP:FIM. So why do I have nothing to show for it?

 

The reason i've made this post is because I feel like i've let the bronies down, and myself in some way, just because i've not actually got anything. I mean I dont even know where to start when it comes to collecting things, or making things, or contributing to the fandom or anything even pony related, I enjoy drawing, and I have a few pony doodles around my books and such, but looking at memes and drawings online of MLP characters just deflates me when I look at mine. (It's just me, i'm strange OK? I love Halo and i've learned just about everything about everything there is to know about it.) So what should I do to sort this out? Where should I start on collecting things? What should I buy first? What should I not buy? Where the heck do I buy these (i'm from the UK, keep in mind).

 

TL;DR - What pony merchandise should I buy? Where from? And what should I avoid?

SO... I've decided. I'm making something for you. Deal with it! I am happy to meet another Halo fan and brony, and I wanna try out this new method of digital painting I've been trying out. Hopefully you'll like it and it'll be good enough to put up in your room. Hint, it won't clash with your Halo motif!

The art is definitely well done. A HiE story in comic form looks interesting and could turn out great. I also like how it's couple-in-Equestria. It's an angle that isn't taken very often and will be fun to see how it all works out.

I think you should continue. I like the art style, and this could be very interesting. And as Dj Manjaro mentioned above, the couple in Equestria is a take I haven't seen before. Hope there is much more to come!

Usually i'm very biased against HiE, as they all seem the same. But this does seem to have some potential, and the art style is quite good. Too early to tell on how the story goes. But for now, i'll say it's good, and thats coming from somepony who hates HiE.

Thank you all for the positive comments! I completely understand the concern with this kind of story, and the only reason I pursued it in any way was because I felt it was different enough and was worth telling. The characters aren't in Equestria because they want to be, they aren't there to get with Fluttershy, and they aren't 'more powerful than Twilight' super-characters (though some conflict may develop because of them and around them). They are really just normal people who are displaced by some sort of event and are left to figure it out on their own. This is a fish out of water, coming of age, dramysteromedy involving adult, blank-flank ponies who are stuck trying to fit into a world where they barely grasp how their own bodies work. I love comedy, so I promise each page to at least give you a chuckle here and there, but I will also be respectful to the story, the world, and the characters these two interact with.
