There are a couple of bands who decide to explore the heavier side of Christian music. One has become a favorite of mine.
    This band is Red.
Red released their fourth album, “Release the Panic,” on Feb. 5, 2013. Red’s style is simple: They have mostly heavy, headbang-worthy tracks, mixed in with a couple of slower, more mellow songs. That doesn’t change on “Release the Panic.” The title track, “Release the Panic,” and “The Moment We Come Alive” are prime examples of these opposites. “Release the Panic” is a heavy track for anyone who loves this side of Red, a side that I love, as are “Damage” and “Perfect Life.” “The Moment We Come Alive” is a slow song, very moving in it’s lyrical content. “Hold Me Now” is another example of Red’s slower side. All of Red’s tracks, whether they be slow or fast, are amazing in their own right.
Most people would criticize a band for not changing over the years, and Red isn’t excluded from this censure. However, from “End of Silence” to “Release the Panic,” Red has stayed loyal to who they are. I admire this, and it doesn’t seem like they will be changing anytime soon. With the way their music is now, I don’t mind one bit. All-in-all, I'd give this album a three and a half.

Infant Annihilator. Just the very name screams offensive. But, read the titles of their tracks, and you'll be even more offended. That is, if you didn't know that this band is a conspiracy band, and all the tracks tell the fictional story of a priest of the Catholic church participating in acts such as rape, murder, forced sterilization, etc. Enough about that. Time to talk about the music itself. Infant Annihilator are death core (big surprise, huh?). But, they're one of the few GOOD death core bands out there. Their vocalist has amazingly brutal growls and his highs are amazing. Their guitarist can play some sick solos, and their drummer can do some fast gravity rolls and double bass. The best track, on this album, in my opinion, is "Pinned Down and Fisted.". I listen to it every morning. If you don't find offense in this band, give them a listen.

To Speak of Wolves are a metalcore band from Greensboro, North Carolina. They're second album, "Find Your Worth, Come Home" was released May 22, 2012, through Solid State Records. The album was produced by Matt McClellan and recorded at Glow in the Dark Studios. The lead single, "Je Suis Fini," was released May 14, 2012, along with an accompying music video. To Speak of Wolves bring a unique sound to the metalcore scene, and are going strong. They are an amazing band, and I urge anyone who's into metalcore to check them out.

O.K., so today, I was texting my girlfriend, and she suddenly asks me if I like this one girl. Since I'm not going to lie to her, I say a little. She stops texting me, and I text her asking her what's wrong. She texts back that she's crying, and then she asks me who I like more: her or the other girl. I tell her that I like her more, and I say "Why would I like about that?" She says, "Cause if you didn't, you'd be single." I got really scared then, because I though she was going to break up with me right then. Thankfully, she didn't and she said that it was O.K. that I liked the other girl. I didn't think so, considering I made her cry, but whatever. I was really scared though. Well, that was the most interesting thing that happened today. Except me getting Dead Throne from The Devil Wears Prada.

My weekend was pretty awesome. I can't remember Saturday for some reason, and it's NOT because I partied. I don't do that kind of stuff. But Sunday, I had church. It was pretty depressing, considering they were talking about the shooting up in Connecticut. But, after church, I got to go to my girlfriends house. We watched 21 Jump Street, and The Help. The Help was surprisingly good, but way racist. I stayed there for dinner, and we had pineapple ham, macaroni shells with white cheese, green beans (the best I've ever had), and conrbread pancakes. Then, my parents came over to pick me up, and it turned out that my mom already knew my girlfriends mother, and I was pretty terrified. Then I found out that her dad has biceps as big as my head. Now, I don't want to meet her dad. But, all-in-all, I had an amazing weekend.

O.K., so I was watching Good Morning America this morning, and it said that....well, One Direction is MTV's Artist of the Year. I just want to know how in the hell they got the award. I have to guess that it's because they have a fanbase of tween girls who like them only because they think that the members look good. Oh well.

Okay, so today I had an anti-bullying rally. It was some 17-year old country artist from Newcastle, Oklahoma. It started with one of her music videos, and then she started talking. It was okay at first, and then she started to say that she got bullied when she was younger. But, I'd like to see if she could have lasted through my middle school years. I doubt she could. But, all-in-all, it wasn't too bad. Sorry for the rant. Maybe I should change my blog to a ranting blog.

Hey, guys. I haven't updated this in a while, so I'm just going to quickly summarize how I've been.

    1. The relationship I'm currently in has been the best one yet, and getting close to the longest one yet, also.
    2. I've began cutting again, but not nearly as bad as I used to, for those of you who know about it.
    3. School hasn't been very interesting.
    4. I almost lost a couple of friends because of a misunderstanding.
    5. I got baptized at my current church, which is an amazing church.

And that's about it. I can't really talk much about everything else. It's been quite uneventful. Well, good day to everyone out there!

This time around, I'm reviewing a certain artist, rather than an album. The artist is Waste of Life, a DSBM (depressive/suicidal black metal) artist. Typically, people tend to think that this music is made for people who want to kill themselves. However, that is not the case. This type of music is actually quite calming, as indicated by Waste of Life's song "Exposing the Torment Within My Veins." Waste of Life is just one man, Darrick Hazelwood, a 22-year old man from Carpentersville, Illinois. He has a knack for making music, and he plays every instrument and does vocals for Waste of Life. My favorite track from this guy would have to be his instrumental "The Fluttering of Forever Closing Eyelids." It beautifully blends raw black metal sounds with a kind of soothing sound that you don't usually hear with black metal. "Exposing the Torment Within My Veins" would have to be my second, and "Waste of Life" my third. All in all, Waste of Life is a solid artist who is fairly underground. His track, "Tears Fill My Dying Eyes," starts off with what sounds like the scream of a person dying an agonizing death, an apt sound for the track's name. I urge anyone who is into DSBM to check this artist out. You will not be disappointed, unless you're looking for great sound quality, because it doesn't seem like his recording equipment is that great. But, all-in-all, I would give this artist a four-and-a-half out of five stars.

Chelsea Grin have been in the deathcore scene for years, and have built quite the fanbase. Fans were always praising Alex's screams and growls. The breakdowns were sick. The instrumentals were amazing. When they released "My Damnation" with Alex's changed vocal style, the fans grumbled. With their newest E.P., "Evolve," fans are grumbling even more due to the addition of Alex doing clean vocals. In my opinion, their new sound is better than their old sound. Don't get me wrong, I liked the breakdowns and everything, but they were becoming a cookie cutter deathcore band. With the new E.P., they kind of break away from the typical deathcore. With songs like "S.H.O.T" and "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" "Evolve" is solid. I'd give it five out of five stars.

Make Them Suffer are a deathcore band from Australia. They have awesome screams and growls, and even have piano incorporated into their music, which lends it a creepy feel. Their debut album, "Neverbloom," was released on May 25, 2012, through Roadrunner Records. In my opinion, Make Them Suffer's track "Neverbloom" is the best on the album. If you like deathcore music, then I advise you to check this band out. You will NOT be disappointed.

Okay, as some of you know, I made a topic in the "Life Advice" section of Everfree Forest. Well, I have good news: I haven't felt that way today. At all. For the first time in a while, I feel happy and relieved. It's a great day for me to get things done. Thanks to thegoodhen for helping me a little bit. That Pinkie you made helped quite a bit.
