I never saw a shiny for the longest time. I've been playing Pokemon since 2000, and I didn't see a shiny in any of my games, save for the red Gyarados, until SoulSilver back in 2010. When I was surfing in a lake, I spotted a shiny Poliwag. (It's only a slightly brighter blue, so I definitely needed that shine to help me realize that it was a shiny.) I caught it and felt so happy. Later, when I was going to the hair salon, I decided to bring my SoulSilver game so that I had something to do for when my hair needed to dry. (I'd rather play that then spend another minute reading style magazines. ;P) I encountered a shiny Geodude. Because it was noticeably a different color, even in the shadows before it slides into it's official battle appearance, I at first thought something was wrong, as that was the first time I saw a shiny of a very different color. I was holding back the lady who told me it was time for the next part of my haircut session so that I could catch it. It was a low-leveled Pokemon, so there were no worries about it self-destructing, and I caught it easily. Two shinies within a few months from each other! And not one before or since!

I liked this episode. Although am I the only one who thought that the CMC shouldn't have appeared as much as they did? The pets needed more spotlight in their own episode. ;P You guys are awesome in spotting background Easter eggs. I almost never notice the things going on in the background. I'm going to look again for Screw Loose.

Try putting these codes into an online shopping cart on the Hot Topic website. They expire tomorrow on Sunday (Which is today for you.). See if they can give you a good enough discount for the four vinyl figures that they currently have. (Especially because shipping outside of the U.S. is very expensive from the Hot Topic website.) $15 off $30: AEM8HY4U $30 off $60: BH2WB7V3 $60 off $120: DY2MU5WC $75 off $150: E9WGU5WL

This image of a high-quality Pinkie Pie plush showed up in a German magazine. Its description states that Nici, a German toy company, will be creating plushies of Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, and Twilight Sparkle rumored to be released in September. http://www.equestriadaily.com/2013/01/high-quality-pony-plushies-possibly.html High-quality plushies! Exciting, yes? Hopefully, they'll show up outside of Europe.

From what I've heard, you'll definitely save money by buying them in person at Hot Topic, rather than pay international shipping. http://community.hottopic.com/storelocator Pick a state and see if there are any near the places you'd visit. If there's a lot in your area, call a particular store beforehand to check if that place has what you want in stock. Browse through the My Little Pony section of the website. Most of these items are in store. (And if you don't find them, ask an employee if they have any in the back. There's no way you'd want to miss your opportunity! ;P) http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/PopCulture/MyLittlePony.jsp

Pre-Order for Fluttershy and Dr. Whooves Vinyl Collectibles
Aurum replied to Aurum's topic in Merchandise
I contacted Hot Topic earlier to ask if the packaging in store would make it hard to tell what variant we got. The email I got back essentially said, "Great question! I dunno." Hoping to figure out soon. Because if it'll have blind packaging, I'd rather just use the promo codes provided to us now and cross my fingers, as it'd be the same thing I'd do in the store if it was a blind pick. I'm pretty sure that the packaging will give us a view of them, though. -

Try punching in some of these codes into the shopping cart. See if it'll get you a decent-enough discount. Not sure if these codes count shipping, but it's worth a try: $15 off $30: AEM8HY4U $30 off $60: BH2WB7V3 $60 off $120: DY2MU5WC $75 off $150: E9WGU5WL And yes, lots of people are pretty much saying, "I hope I'm not that unlucky 1 in 24!" When I heard they were going to have variants, I was expecting a color change, like a shiny Pokemon. I think more people would be interested in that. One thing I hope is that they don't bring the "surprise" to the store. $16.50 blind bags, anyone? -

http://www.equestriadaily.com/2013/01/doctor-and-fluttershy-up-for-pre-order.html#idc-container http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/Time_Turner/Gallery?file=Funko_and_Hot_Topic_Fluttershy_and_Dr.Whooves_release.JPG The Hot Topic website is currently down, but here are the links for when the site is back up again. Dr. Whooves Fluttershy Notes: - 1 in 24 of each will come with translucent fur. (Looking sort of like some of the blind bags.) - 1 in 2 Dr. Whooves have a green tie, and the other 1 in 2 have a red tie. - It'll be a surprise if you order online. Thought I'd give a heads up! I'm probably going to wait to see them in store. I want a Dr. Whooves with a green tie. Not to mention, a lot of the Rainbow Dashes and Derpys had slight errors (misprinted eyes, dirt marks, etc.) and I'd prefer to select the best-looking one in store. But again, pre-ordering these could be a good way to use your Hot Cash.

movies/tv Favorite Anime/Animated Series Opening?
Aurum replied to Cherry Blossom's topic in Media Discussion
Whoa, I was just about to list six of those! (Samurai Jack, Lain, Noein, Sailor Moon, South Park, and Freakazoid) Also: - Gargoyles - Beetlejuice animated series (The roller coaster one) - Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo - Dexter's Laboratory - Batman: The Animated Series -
All I've seen so far is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OV-OF9wZWDs The animation is fantastic, and I love how they went the extra mile to add animation to the documentary. Haven't watched the whole documentary, but this definitely makes me interested to watch more. (Netflix, hopefully?) I love the little "eye surprise" at the end with the John de Lancie pony. However, the documentary made one factual flaw in this scene: My Little Pony Tales is late G1, and not G2. G2 never had its own animated series. Other than that, it seems like this documentary is about things we already know. The information seems more meant for outsiders, or am I interpreting it wrong? (Then again, of course bronies would already be familiar about most aspects of bronies. ;P)

Hot Topic is one of the major places that sells My Little Pony: FiM merchandise for an older demographic. But from what I've heard, the shipping rates are expensive to people outside of the U.S. Hot Topic has had a promotion for a while. After paying $30+ for a purchase, they'll give you $15 of "Hot Cash", that essentially works as a "$15 off" coupon, only if you pay $30 or more on the purchase you use it for between January 17th and January 27th. You can use them in-store or type in a code printed on the back of them for online purchases only. I've seen other alternatives like a bill for $30 of Hot Cash off your next purchase of $60 or more. People who simply have no use for "Hot Cash" are offering online codes to the cash on eBay at low prices. If you play your cards right before January 27th, you might be able use these codes to get any MLP merchandise you want at a decent discount (So long as your shopping cart's cost is over $30). I know a lot of international fans on these forums were talking about how they wanted the Vinyl Collectibles, but didn't have the means to pay for the shipping costs. That is all!

Does anypony even like the old generations?
Aurum replied to Zach TheDane's topic in Classic Generations
Guys, guys, there is no such thing as a G2 animated series! My Little Pony Tales occurred at the tail end of G1 (1992). This is a common misconception. Apparently, even the Bronies documentary got that wrong. G2 was very short-lived, and didn't have much outside the toys to its name. Sorry, just a nitpick! I understand that it'd be nice and organized for every generation to have a series. ;P G1: (My Little Pony) - I only watched the specials and the movie. I loved the villains. (My Little Pony Tales) - Didn't watch much. But from what I did see, the series did give the ponies their own personalities. But no awesome villains. G3: - Did not watch. Saw reviews though. Perhaps the reviewers were playing up the bad clips, and none of its redeeming factors, but it doesn't look very enjoyable.- 193 replies

My Little Pony, as a product, exists as one idea: Multi-colored ponies with brushable manes and symbols on their flanks. MLP has existed as this before FiM, and will exist as such after the show has ended. I will agree that the show has a variety of hairstyles, and that more options should be available for molded hair. I do recall G3 using snap-on hairstyles. If any generation could benefit from a product like that, I'd say it's G4. But it's understandable that Hasbro wishes to promote their brushables. However, I will admit that I find something wrong with the brushables, in that the basic size is simply too small! Gravity can't keep their manes down like they did in the previous, larger generations. The larger ones are better, but simply too expensive. I'd prefer a size in-between them.

Oh, Hot Cash! Yes, I got some, too. I am personally either planning on getting another vinyl to sell later to make up for my bad buy of a Derpy vinyl on eBay for $50 right before Hot Topic started selling them again (And help me invest in the vinyls in March.). That, or try seeing what kind of blind bags they have there. If you would also want to do that, and don't mind the lack of surprise, be sure to have a list of the numbers for each pony so that you can pick your favorites right away. http://www.strawberryreef.com/Index/G4/IndexBB.html

I say wait two months for Fluttershy and Dr. Whooves vinyls! But if you must spend now, I am also personally not interested in clothes. I know they make good conversation starters, but I can't stand when an expensive, beautiful shirt with a tv show/movie on it gets sweaty and faded. When I was at Hot Topic, I remember there being a few small items, such as ear buds, earrings, buttons, nail polish, etc. I've heard that they're selling a comic book series now. Might want to check in on that.

Is it on some kind of hiatus? Recently, the creative president of Nickelodeon came to speak at my college. He confirmed that SpongeBob is likely never going to end, and he meant that genuinely. I did watch SpongeBob a lot when I was younger. But the season following the movie wasn't very good story-wise, so I stopped watching. (The animation is a lot better now, though.) I think a big mistake they made with the series is that they never bothered expanding on the cast. The usual cast of characters is still the same as it has been since season one. Other long-running shows tend to add more characters as the show goes on. However, I am interested in the second movie that is supposed to come out next year. I hope they can do something really good.

Haha, it's no problem. I didn't intend to spend so much, but I am doing little frugal things to make up for the loss. I had a bit of Flutterrage after I found out about my $50 mistake, but I feel a bit better about it now. Managed to get a nicer-looking Derpy at Hot Topic, anyway. I'm going to wait it out and probably sell the one I got off eBay at a collector shop maybe at minimum $40 when/if she sells out again. At least now I remember why I got out of figure collecting several years ago. Haha. Don't get me wrong, though. I absolutely love having a Derpy vinyl.

Rainbow Dash and Derpy Vinyl Collectibles are back at Hot Topic for $14.50 each
Aurum replied to Aurum's topic in Merchandise
Hi, folks! I went to the mall today and went into Hot Topic for the first time ever. Lots and lots of vinyls. Rainbow Dash still has the blue at the top of her mane, and still has a cutie mark on just one side, but she has magenta eyes now. Most of the Derpys look the same as before, but I noticed one had noticeably brighter eyes. Not sure if it's just a single-case factory error, or if Funko slightly adjusted the colors of both eyes. But just a heads up.
