  1. Today's episode brought me here as well. I had no trouble seeing Maud as having Asperger's when she first appeared, but with those two lines, I don't think I can see her as anything but. One of the myths about autism that all autistic people seclude themselves from others because they all hate talking with people. Quite the opposite, in fact; a good number of Aspies crave social interaction, myself included, but find it a daunting hurdle to overcome. With kids shows like Sesame Street actively tackling these myths, I wouldn't be surprised if other shows like MLP are encouraged to follow this example.
  2. So, we now know we're getting a teaser attached to the new Smurfs movie. That should alleviate fears of getting zero promotion before Friendship Day. At this rate, a full trailer should come this summer.
  3. Yes, that's the source revealing it to be a 30-second teaser. We can expect a full trailer in the coming months, probably June. Anyways, I suppose there's no use in being impatient. We've already got confirmation of a teaser no later than 4 days from now, and that's much sooner than many people thought it'd be (I knew they wouldn't withhold footage when it was announced advertising would begin in August on Friendship Day).
  4. That's not what I meant. I meant to say the theatrical release of the trailer. We already know when the teaser is coming out in theaters, and I want to know when and if we can expect the teaser to appear online before that.
  5. On average, how many days before the theatrical release do trailers appear online nowadays?
  6. You're right, but seeing how we're seven months away from it rather than a year, we're due for a trailer soon.
  7. The main/final trailer may work for those dates. But I'm predicting the first trailer/teaser will drop with springtime movies like The Boss Baby and Smurfs: The Lost Village. There's also a safe bet the Season 7 premiere will air a sneak peek.
  8. The PPG movie didn't bomb because it still made back the difference of its budget; it just wasn't a whole lot, which is what made it a box office failure. And even if the MLP movie meets the same end, this is still a merchandise-heavy franchise. From my understanding, the toy sales will keep it going.
  9. Star Wars: Episode VII. The teaser was 13 months before the movie, and the following trailer was just barely under 8.
  10. First I've heard about this. I'm afraid I don't understand, how is it different from when the trailer will release?
  11. New characters means new toys. Heck, we already have toys based on them. But that's just it: a toy commercial doesn't need to be bad or have zero effort put into its story.
  12. I believe you're referring to this. But anything could happen. If, for instance, this series no longer turned out to be profitable, the plug could be pulled and any seasons in development nipped at the bud.
  13. Or they'll place their bets on Hanazuki, their first totally new product for girls in over a decade, which is already attracting a following of those who already liked MLP. Heck, it's getting a short attached to the movie if what we learned at this year's Toy Fair is any indicator.
  14. I know there are some people who are uncomfortable with the idea of throwing in animals that walk on two legs, some even claiming it goes against the mythological elements of the show. But let me throw in my two cents on that: The idea of walking, talking cats have been around for about as long as people knew what cats were. From the Egyptian myths of Baast to fairy tales of Puss in Boots (no, Shrek didn't make him up), it could happen. I'm placing my bets on Captain Celaeno being based on the harpies (half-bird/half-woman) of Greek mythology, just with a reduced "human" vibe like MLP normally does with half-human creatures. If she weren't, they wouldn't go the extra mile of using an extra pair of claws in place of wings. Plus, she shares her name with a harpy. You can't get more direct than that.
  15. IMDb is about as reliable as Wikipedia, only it's more of a pain to correct any issues. Case in point, a fanmade MLP movie poster was once listed as an official image related to the film.
  16. Where are you getting these MPAA ratings for the EQG movies? I can't find any record of them.
  17. Would you say a scarred eye and a clearly artificial leg would do the trick?
  18. Yes, but this movie has the sequels to Blade Runner and Kingsman: The Secret Service to contend with. Unless it gets rescheduled, this is gonna need all the good word of mouth it can get if it's gonna stand out.
  19. Not everyone is going to see that the same way. A good number of people still find it unthinkable for a grown adult to watch something for children without kids of their own, and not counting gender, either. Media outlets are especially bad; I've seen enough about how news reports and talk shows either cut out or make up information to know that not all fandom-shaming is done out of ignorance. It pains me to even think it, but I get the sinking feeling there will be news decrying bronies as a bunch of "weirdos" gathering to watch the movie, and that could seriously hurt the film's image and performance, all logic aside. Sure, we can probably convince a decent number of people that what we like about MLP is reasonable, but families unfamiliar with bronies may be too alarmed by the "strange guys" sitting in the theater to share it with us. I don't know how the Equestria Girls movies fared since they barely had any coverage, but they were meant to be limited releases. This is gonna be worldwide. And the way I see it, I pray I'm gonna be wrong.
  20. None of the EQG films were rated, at least in America. So we can't rely on them to judge the rating for this movie before we really know anything about its content.
  21. Small roles don't reduce the risk of spotlight-stealing, as MLP can attest to again and again. And if the rest of the Mane Cast were out of focus, then what point would there be in even putting them in the movie? According to Sony leaks, there was apparently a draft of the movie where everyone but Twilight got sidelined to the point where they barely seemed to stand out from the rest of the cast. And given how colorful we know they are, that's not good. Thankfully, the story as we know it is going in a totally different direction, but remember, this is still a movie with seven main characters the audience is expected to care about, regardless of how familiar they are with the source material. And that's amidst no more than eight celebrity guest stars. If this movie is going to be a success, it needs to be accessible to a wide audience.
