Has anyone heard of the dish named Foie Gras? It’s a French delicacy made of duck or goose liver that people say is absolutely delicious. I haven’t tried it myself. If you look at what the dish looks like, you’ll see that the liver is yellowish. This is unusual, as the liver is one of the more vascularized organs, filled with blood vessels, therefore it normally should be dark red. And this is where the problem lies.

The liver used to make foie gras is made of 90% fat because the ducks and geese are purposefully made sick during their lifetime. You see, in order for their liver to be fat, they need to be force fed large quantities of food, usually corn boiled with fat, much too much than what they normally eat. In other words, before these animals are killed, they are intentionally made sick in order for the liver to be as fat as possible, thus producing the desired outcome of foie gras. In short, it hurts them during a large portion of their lives, as I do not want to go into detail about how exactly they suffer during this process.

Therefore, the topic of this blog entry is: should we not care about what an animal goes through in order for us to obtain food? Everyone who had this dish is saying that it’s amazingly delicate, but should we not be concerned? Is it right for us to go to any means in order to get a particular type of dish?

Update: Thankfully, I came across an article showing that the US, some countries in Europe and some in Latin America have banned the forceful feeding of animals, thus banned the production of this dish and other similar dishes that involve animal abuse.

Scaredy cats, look away now X3

Hi people! I'm sure you know about creepypastas, those little horror stories surfing around the internet. Some of them get the job done even better than Hollywood movies when it comes to scares or all around creepiness.

    One thing about me, though, I prefer listening to them rather than reading them, don't ask me why;

anyways, since I'm one of those die hard fans who's always on a pasta diet, I've decided to make a top 5 of my fave stories for anyone who's interested. You like scares? you came to the right place.

But how to make this top? Which stories can be considered better than all others? Well, in my opinion, the best creepypastas should seem the most believable, should make you feel uneasy, and should definitely have an all around creep value to it.

Having established that, here are my fave creepypastas, with links to the audio versions of them, performed by MrCreepypasta, my fave creepypasta reading youtuber (oh, you don't like him? well I do and this is my top X3)

Spoiler: no, Cupcakes is not on this list; in my opinion, that's just goreporn, definitely not a good creepypasta.

    #5 - Anasi’s Goatman Story

To tell the truth, it's difficult to figure out why I like this one so much, though I find myself coming back to it numerous times. Maybe it's the fact that it takes place in the middle of nowhere, maybe that it's the way it is written, making it extremely believable, I'm not sure; it's definitely chilling and makes you wonder just how safe you are when you're going camping with friends.

    #4 - Abandoned By Disney

    youtube.com/watch?v=KuDHMcc8iGo

This came out of nowhere and completely blew my mind, was not expecting it to be so damn good; up to a certain point, it definitely sounds like something the Disney corporation would do; however, it then slowly descends into an absolute horrific secret that I'll let you read (or hear X3) for yourselves, should you wanna check it out.

    #3 - Candle Cove

    youtube.com/watch?v=VN0vSIBnUNo

The ending absolutely made this one for me. It has everything that makes creepypastas good and leaves you (well, left me, at least) completely creeped out. It's nice and short, and a wonderful example of what you can do even if you don't plan on writing a novel-long story in order to draw your audience in slowly.

This one is nothing short of a masterpiece, and the fact that it actually has filmed footage makes it all the more believable / terrifying / nightmare inducing / whatever you wanna call it >w<

It's no surprise that this appears on everyone's list of best pastas, it is deserving of every praise it gets, since a lot of work was clearly placed in its making; a word of warning though, the ending absolutely blows your mind in how scary it is, but the reality is that it kinda loses it's effect when you hear the audio, it works best when it is read; I kinda figured this out when hearing it and noticed what the author was trying to do.

    #1 - The Showers

    Part 3: youtube.com/watch?v=KrpH4hiq4qg

This shall forever be my fave scary story, unless someone can produce something absolutely heart-stopping. I haven't been in a long time as scared as I was when this one finished. There is a possibility that you won't like it as much or you'll be expecting something even more horrific and then be let down, but this is my opinion, that The Showers is the ultimate creepypasta.

You're probably now saying "Del, you piece of poop, what the hell were you thinking not including Slendy or Jeff in your list?" To tell you the truth though, I really didn't find them scary, I see them as just stories about serial killers, one of them faceless and incredibly tall; thing is that a story needs to have an element of the unexplained in order for me to be scared or at least creeped out; if everything is neatly explained and I am not left pondering, then chances are I won't be scared either. That being said, thanks for reading.

    Might as well, here goes:

    10. Strangest Videotape / Barbie.avi

Let’s start it nice and easy with a tie, these are the first two pastas I ever heard (because as you know from the last entry, I don’t read them, I hear them, the atmosphere is much better that way); so these are the two stories that got me into pastas, may as well place them on the top; if they were good enough to keep me interested, they must be good enough for this entry

    9. The Chanting In The Woods

Oh yeah, this one; works amazingly well if you happen to be a person who grew up in the rural area, preferably next to some woods (not my case, I was always a big city kid; nevertheless, I really enjoyed this one)

    8. Where Bad Kids Go

Very short, under 3 minutes, yet it does its job surprisingly well; it really took my by surprise

    7. 1999

If I knew this one before, it would have easily made my top 5 list; this was the one that almost got me to think it was real; it’s very well made, structured and thought out and I don’t wanna say anything else about it

    6. Psychosis

Again, if I knew this one in time, it would have made my top 5 list; the ironic thing is that I did know about it back then, I just forgot…oh well
The great thing about this one is that it really shows what it’s like to be psychotic

Some time ago, this kid was throwing a pool birthday party. He had 2 red bulls, then attempted to dive into the pool. I don’t yet know the explanation for it, but he died the instant his body entered the water. It was determined that red bull was indeed the cause of his death, as his heart simply gave up on him. And we’re talking about a 17 year old kid, therefore a really strong, really young heart.

Having learned this, I started to ask myself if red bull and other similar energy drinks are indeed drugs. Everyone’s first response is, of course, no. After all, it’s a soda, just like Pepsi, it’s neatly packaged, it sponsors just about anything, it’s everywhere. But I want to analyze this by looking at what defines a drug. After all, is red bull bad for your health? Absolutely. For the sake of the human race, I hope I don’t have to explain why it’s bad. Is it made with chemicals and all kinds of questionable substances? Oh yeah. Besides all the acids which are cleverly hidden behind high-tech names, it contains a large dosage of taurine. This would probably be the most dangerous aspect of it, as it releases a dose of adrenaline into your body that, at times, your organism is not ready for. Does it create dependency? You’d be surprised how many people are addicted to red bull, some of my friends included.

Therefore, when viewed from this perspective, the logical conclusion is that it’s definitely a drug. Ok, fine, why is it still sold in stores like it’s just another friendly product for your enjoyment? Again, the obvious first answer is “people know what they’re buying, they can see the ingredients clearly written, and therefore it’s their business if they want to consume it”. By this logic, if all other drugs, regardless of the danger, were sold in stores in professional packages and having all ingredients written on it, would that make it ok? Of course not, as some people are simply too…well, simple, for the lack of a better term, to understand the risks they are taking, so the production of these substances is deemed illegal.

Yet red bull and other energy drinks are still going strong. Someone in the health care department deemed them ok for distribution. I'm, of course, not bashing anyone who consumes energy drinks. If you like them, more power to you. I guess I'm just questioning the products and the logic behind their existence...

Take from this what you want, thanks for reading my post.
