  1. I actually made $2,000 today on the side, i cant complain! Seriously tho, welder/ machinist sucks when your going to college for engineering.

all I have to say about this is ask why?

another thing I do that is unproductive is sleep....I hate sleeping....but it's required for proper health and energy...but I find it so unproductive...

And right now work is unporductive. Been sitting here for 2 weeks, not thinking...This is my brain right now:homer-simpson-drooling-a.jpg

  2. B.O.R.I.N.G.....

It's been so slow and boring that I haven't showered in 4 days, so last night was nice and a bit of a refresher (seriously why shower if you aren't dirty or sweated at all?) Had a nice early breakfast with my husband before we parted ways (made bacon, egg, and cheddar sandwiches). He's working on a blacksmithing commission for coffee table with his best friend. I am on my last day working overtime alone at my local store. My boss is back tonight so I can FINALLY go back to sanity.

I swear, I've gained 20 lbs these past few weeks just sitting like bump on a log.....BUT 40 degrees on Monday, and if it's sunny, I'm dusting off my bike!!!!

  3. Yes so some way they could be revealed again it does not have to be in (Equestria) to be honest I do see them as a Equestrian race but likely from further from the pony kind so somewhere in Equestria away from pony kind would seem around right for them (even know Rover for one is very similar to Gollum I'll say that XD

totally agree! But I think he'd have a hard time just choosing one 'precious'

  4. She seems like somedeer who takes control of situations, can be a bit brash and bull headed. Basically a leader type who doesn't take sh** from no deer. But she looks out for those she cares about and has the best of intentions.

Btw...your drawing is really good, and I assume you did your OC as well. You should do commissions :D

  5. Just because they know more or less nothing about ponies makes no more different to their personality oh and my dog smells likely just as bad XD

I know the Diamond dogs are now from Equestria but hey I like them from who they are (I used to be a bit of a gem-finder and not in a Rarity way XD) I just don't know why but they seem to fit the kind of character I like they don't have to exactly be (smart) to be good...

I had no problems with their personalities....their design was actually very good as well. But because there were so few of them (disregarding the generic all looking alike henchmen dogs), I am not sure how they would be represented again if they were in a future episode due the fact that they are not Equestrian creatures.

I mean, we could have a giant army of diamond dogs trying to take over Equestria for the gems....But changelings did that already story wise...

We could have a lone diamond dog wandering into Equestria and it be a story about their adaptation to Equestrian life, which hasn't been done, but I think it would be better done with a changeling due to their "evil' nature. The diamond dogs aren't evil, they are just greedy and wanted an easy way out of work with their capture of Rarity.

Other than that, it would be rehash on their initial episode appearance, and that wouldn't be very entertaining...

  6. Umm okay then XD

I'll be honest myself i find Rarity a lil, annoying (no offence Rarity fans)

Seriously...she was whining and complaining to get her way....not the best episode to show first time watchers for sure.

The Diamond Dogs are quite forgettable, a lot of it is because they obviously do not associate with ponies much at all, and in fact, don't seem like natives to Equestria at all. It's not confirmed nor denied that Spike and Rarity were even in Equestria looking for gems (and for all we know, all the ponies of history have slowly but surely dug them all up already if we go by Hearth's Warming Eve (all the gems, everywhere)). Plus, the dogs do not know much about ponies at all (as they first thought Spike was the gem finder, but this does not explain the minecarts). In other words, they are not really a part of the world the ponies normally inhabit and are thus non essential to the greater Equestrian Narrative (this is actually the same for the Breezies and Changelings).

The bad breath and bad body odor parts I laughed so hard at, hence the Ecard to them

  7. Money has no hold upon my life. It's materialistic anyways (so why die for something that cannot follow you?)

As far as the question in general...it's a hard decision to make:

If I was told the day of my death:

    I would probably become very very depressed because I have not come to terms with the simple fact that I am going to die eventually anyways. But I think I'd come to terms much quicker if I knew the day and after  I get over such hurdle;

I would not take every moment with my husband for granted which is so easy for me to do. I would cherish EVERYTHING!

I would do all I can to live ALL I can. I think I would treat everyday like the last day of my basically.  I would do everything  I could to seek solace in God. I would read all I could, learn all I could and basically carry the cross PROPERLY.

If I was not told the day of my death (i.e. right now):

I will always struggle with the fact I'm going to die eventually, I will always struggle with my thoughts on God, I will take the time I have with my husband for granted and not treat him the best I possibly can some days. I will always live in fear, but I'd be ignorant and thus thus my happiness is based in my ignorance.

Actually, upon further reflection through typing this post...I would want to know...because life would be worth living, and I wouldn't have to fear the unknown of that inevitable day....

  8. Alright, first of all I apologize for a slightly aggressive approach.

However, my opinion is still the same.

The problem exists only for the people being constantly (i.e. several times a day) bombarded by it.

In my case - it does not exists. Neither I claim to be in any group anymore, nor any of those people have any power in my realm.

My answer to them is in essence the same as in post #21

Some people are just caring too much about things.

And some like to prey on that to get attention. That's all there is.

It's different from place to place. More populated areas with higher chance of having nerd-specfic storesand have a higher likelihood of having this problem due to increase in people in any specfic area, compared to rural areas like where I live.  I honestly never thought we'd come across elitists in our line of desires. It also depends on how you interact with any part of nerddom. Being an anime fan, I watch a lot a know a lot, but for the most part, I stay away from the Otaku fanbase IRL and online, and thus I have not run into any problems this thread presents. I have not come across elitists in the Brony community because I avoid talking about reviewers, I avoid a lot of topics on this forum that may contain elitist, degrading remarks and so on and so forth. But that does not mean we can deny the existence of this problem just because we do not see it for ourselves.

A prominent area where this is a recurring problem in my life is in the religious sector. Talking about Nerd elitists is one thing, but religiously induced verbal wars is something everyone can relate to in some way, and it's extremely hard to avoid lest you ignore the subject all together.

  9. It might be wise to actually FURTHER specify your forum. There are forums for specific types of bronies. I know there is a servicemen forum (firefighters, police officers, military), and there is the Brony Health Group Forum as well.

Or you can take a specific aspect of the show as your forum specialty, such as Griffons, or the Everfree Forest.

Anything to make your forum unique enough to draw people to it, or else people will gravitate towards the major forums out there (like this one) due to their all inclusive natures.

  10. Wait, that's what a beatnik is?  Well, that one got my vote.  It just looks so classy.

Beatnik is the term for the anti-conformist youth from the 50's.  They were basically the hipsters of their time (and later turned into the hippies of the 60's and 70's). For the females, the fashion was distinct because it was NOT dresses or skirts (where were the cultural norm for females back then)

The style of Rarity is based off is what a lot of beatnik women wore back then.

We need a country Rarity option...Farm Rarity is Best Rarity :D

Although, I think Beatnik Rarity is best Rarity for what's available. It fits her style and personality to a T

Also....This is friggin' ADORABLE! The Case 110 is the cutest Steam Engine, but honestly, they are all cute, especially unique ones like Avery's....

  12. Just make sure to not stain it...that'd be sad day :(

Also, Welovefine shirts need to be washed in cold water, inside out or the print will fade/distort/wear off....they are nice shirts, but thin, not really good for sweat making work of any kind.  Make it last as long as possible :)

My first shirt was "Drink Cider, Learn Nothing"

    LOVE IT!!!!

  13. Think about it, the hipster culture is seriously a maturation of the Nerd culture of the 80-90's, when it the most insulting to be a nerd (until Urkel made it cool, accordion and all :P

Nerd culture is now so mainstream, it's no wonder why it's so exclusive. Now, it seems like the new type of nerds that aren't much accepted (even among the Nerd culture) are real Otaku, but even then, as Anime becomes more and more prominent in the west, real Otaku are also getting more a more accepted. Because of this mainstream-ness of the Nerd culture, there are fake nerds (people who dress and act the part because it's now a cool thing to do), or elitists (who cannot stand the fakers and will not allow anyone who is interested in what they are interested in to be respectfully allowed in that fandoms' circle {just like the story you told}).

I consider myself a nerd, but nowhere on the grounds of how culture now defines a nerd. I do not dress the part, act the part, nor act in denial of the part (like many nerds also do because its cool). In fact, I've already had a situation similar to Applejack in Simple Ways because what I do is so different, and I was even called a "new hipster" and everything by this small group of city people who considered themselves Nerds. I was really nice to them, but after the fact, I just was so exasperated by all these "Nerds" saying things to me that are really...ignorantly degrading.

Let me explain a bit. I partake in traditional Blacksmithing Demostrations, at town celebrations and at reenactments, and a lot of the younger people who are attracted to such things are predominately hipsters. Many treat these crafts as whatshisname treated Applejack in Simple Ways. I highly enjoy doing these things more for the families that want to bring their children (for a mini vacation with education), but the hipsters are not interested in the actual WORK I do, and yet act like they know everything about the crafts that I am replicating (or they just oohh and ahh which is my normal expectation).  The small group of city people who talked to me, went on about organic farming (predominately CSA's), Green energy, and the like treating me (a farmer's wife, and old world reenacter) like I knew nothing about any of the stuff that is quite popular among modern hipsters. It was so aggravating,  I wanted to drag them to our home, show them our wood stove, our cannon, my garden and everything that we do WITH OUR OWN HANDS!!!! :okiedokielokie: :fiery:

Now I know that many hipsters are not Nerds that are into card games, comics, and the like...but many of them are, because it's cool and a big part of being a hipster. But I consider hispters the mainstream Nerds who may (or may not) act like elitists. Elitist Nerds are just was they are, and those kind of people appear in any fandom, any cultural group, and everywhere in the world. We once came across a blacksmith elitist who REALLY rubbed in my husband's face how much better and how much more he knew, and this guy had to be in his 50's. My husband got really depressed (he almost outright quit his dreams) after encountering this guy and to this day, I want to give that man a big piece of my mind.

There are not just "incidents" and this problem is sparse and not very common. It's everywhere, from the local card shop to the video game aisle to the girls toy aisle!  Again, it happens everywhere, and in many sub-cultural groups. Nerds are one the bigger ones because it is becoming such a mainstream thing, and a lot of that is due to the video game industry.  Due to the Video Game industry now becoming more powerful than Hollywood, this problem is only going to get worse. Nerds are becoming the majority due the biggest "thing" in nerd-dom becoming a financial and entertainment powerhouse all over the modern world. Cards (like Magic), D&D, and other longer lived aspects of Nerds is dying out, being overshadowed by video games. Heck, even those two genres have the largest grossing, most popular video games made because of them (WOW anyone?)

If you don't see what is going, than you are being ignorant. If you deny what is going on, then you are not someone is going to make this problem better and will actually be helping in making this problem worse by doing/saying nothing. People are greedy and selfish, and its just sickening....
