Emerald Flame

It's a completely legit toy just hitting the shelves. And I'm glad that Hasbro is making special edition ponies. Show accuracy is great and all, but releasing the same toy over and over again gets boring fast.

Well, since I've read all of the mane 6 micros now, why not rank them?

1. Rarity. No contest here, Cook's story was hilarious, and Price's artwork is godly.

2. Pinkie Pie. A surprisingly sweet story  with a great moral.

3. Twilight Sparkle. The art was kinda bad, but the story was very cute.

4. Applejack. The art was great, but the story was the same damn thing we get every time Applejack is in the spotlight. Would it seriously kill the writers to give her a story that doesn't involve fucking apples?

5. Fluttershy. A boring story and bad artwork.

6. Rainbow Dash. The writer said he googled what was popular about her, and then watched a few Dash-centric episodes (I'm guessing MMDW was one of them) to get try to write her. He then jammed references into the comic carelessly and expected a good result.

Also, I don't understand how Fleecs can make such godly covers, yet does so poorly when he draws an issue. Hopefully he continues to practice and overcome his limitations.

Let's get the three kind of unpopular ones out of the way:

-Hate MMC

-Hate Twilicorn

-Hate EqG

And a couple that are actually unpopular:

-The main comic series needs to split with show continuity

-IF they do that, it will probably be better than the show

Hey, I love the adventure episodes of MLP. Episodes like Dragonshy, Last Roundup, and all of the two-parters have been absolutely excellent in my mind. However, the comics do not feel like FiM's adventure episodes. They lack that bright and colorful vibe, and I am not keen on the darker overall feel. I understand that the comics are probably aimed specifically at the Brony fanbase, but that doesn't mean the bright and colorful charm of the show should be sidelined. I feel the comics try far too hard with the pop culture references and fandom jokes, instead of just bringing the quality entertainment of the show. Also, the dialogue has not been up to snuff with the show one iota, but that's my biased opinion.

 

I haven't read the micro series, but I plan to soon. You're not the first one that I've heard say that the Rainbow Dash comic is bad. And seeing how I haven't found her the least bit likable in the first six issues, I definitely don't doubt that that's true. I do look forward to Applejack's, so if anyone gets a chance to read it, I'd like to hear some thoughts on it.

We'll just have to agree to disagree then. Aside from the issues I described in my previous post, I've been loving the main series. The next four issues are going to be two mini-arcs focused on Big Mac and Shining Armor and Cadance, respectively, with a more slice of life approach than the first two arcs. I'm sure you'll enjoy those.

Applejack's micro is supposed to be the next comic they release, and the series editor is the one writing it. After it drops, I'm sure you'll hear plenty about it.

Link is my favorite character overall, but I also loved using Mewtwo in Melee and Sonic in Brawl. I never played the original SSB, so I can't say who I'd like in it.

I have to disagree with you two. I started watching the show expecting it to be more adventure orientated than it is. And while I still love most of it, I'm glad that most of the main comic series went with more of an adventurous route than the show. The main problem with the main series so far is that the last issues of each arc are too rushed. Chrysalis' arc needed a few more pages, but Nightmare Rarity needed at least another issue, two more and it would have been perfect.

The Micro Series is the one I find weaker. Rarity's and Pinkie's are great, Twilight's is cute in spite of the bad artwork, Fluttershy's is kinda weak, and Rainbow's is just plain horrible.

I was pleasantly surprised by Pinkie's micro. Usually she gets on my nerves, but she was very sweet in this story. Much better characterization than she's gotten in the show lately. It's easily the second best micro released so far.

Couldn't be more meaningless. 10 of the votes are 10/10 and 11 of the votes are 1/10. Those are pre-release hater/anti-hater votes. There's MAYBE a half dozen votes from people who have actually seen the movie, if that. Check on that in 2-3 weeks, when it's actually been released to most of the theaters it'll be in.

And the same goes for RT. Few reviews from people who have seen it, and more from people who haven't.

There are "rabid" and "sane" fans in every fanbase. People will always get too obsessed with things. Unfortunately, it seems like there are more rabid fans in this fandom than others.

It also has a 2.7 on IMDB.

I wish they could have added a couple of issues to the Nightmare Rarity arc. The rest of the arc was great, but they tried to put way too much into the last issue. It was a little disappointing.

Turning Twilight into a princess was dumb enough. I wouldn't have Celestia or Luna any other way, and Cadance I can live with, but please for the love of god, no more.

In Stone Sour's song Absolute Zero, I absolutely love the line "If I offended you, you needed it."

But my favorite of all time is from Scar Symmetry's Ghost Prototype I (Measurement of Thought):

I still go there daily. And I like it there. The whole reason I joined the fandom was because of 4chan. The pony threads on /b/ during season 1 got me interested, and I figured that since I like cute things, if I gave the show a shot, I'd end up liking it. So I did, and here I am!

And while I admit, some of the threads there are pretty gross, you just have to report the porn and ignore what you don't like. And for the "unintelligent discussions" I see some of you complaining about? Read this:

Friendly reminder that Lauren Faust visited /mlp/ because she claimed she's seen some of the most thoughtful discussions and criticism in there.

 

Sure, we might be terrible people most of the time, but generalizing the board as the fandom hate machine is plain ignorance. Or did you never hear about the Thank You card that /mlp/ pulled together for Lauren?

And actually lurk. Comic discussion there is why I'm never here anymore. They get plenty of attention and appreciation there, along with a weekly story time. Here we get a barely active thread with no real discussion.

Hopefully not. Even though I liked Keep Calm and Flutter On, I'm still going to miss Discord's villainous side. And reformation or not, letting Trixie get away with taking over Ponyville with just an apology is stupid. Besides, Chrysalis is still evil in the comics, and I doubt the show will change that.

You think that's bad? In an episode of Dan Vs., Dan tries to gas a city because the traffic is too bad (however, the gas is nonlethal). In another, he wants to bury a guy alive because he messed up his burger order. Needless to say, Dan Vs. is fucking awesome.

I love the violence, the innuendo, and the dark humor. And there was a lot more of that in the past than there is now. So I want to see more shows strap on a set of balls and get more people interested in darker humor.

My Derpy tin should be getting here soon. I ordered it with issue 6 of the comic, and Hot Topic is breaking the street date again. It will be a little while before I get a series 2 box though, Cardfight Vanguard has priority over it.

I liked The Crystal Empire, and I feel that MMC is the second worst episode in the series, so the choice was obvious. TCE does have its flaws, but they aren't big enough for me to hate the episodes.

This looks pretty neat. I'm probably going to buy it, but I want to make sure it'll actually be good before dropping the cash.

I got Celestia out of one of the packs, but I don't know if the others come in them. 

 

Yes, the Gold Series cards are the equivalent to Ultra Rares, I think. They're just foil cards, but I believe the printing on them is of a slightly higher quality and they have a little more shine to them. 

There are 4 gold foils you can get in booster packs, and 4 gold foils that are only available as box toppers. The regular pack foils are Twilight and the princesses, and the box topper foils are the villains.

Congratulations to the MLP Forums staff and all members who can attend! You have made me very jealous. (Seriously, why can't anything fun happen in Kentucky? )

However, if Enterplay distributes promos, I would be forever grateful if you guys could organize a way to get cards to members who can't go.

I'm sure both of these have been posted already, but listening to good songs again never hurts.

Kind of. It had a few great episodes, most of the others were good, but the last two were absolutely terrible. And in shorter seasons, the bad and mediocre episodes tend to stick out more.

At this point I don't even care anymore   Fine, added a second poll. I really just want the single topic for all favorite bad guy discussion, because it always pops up, and people never know how exactly to deal with it.

 

Emerald Flame, if you could kindly not delete the poll options I've added this time around, that'd be appreciated. I know you wanted a second topic, but that's just inefficient. If you'd like to add options I missed, go for it.

Fair enough. But is there a way to open up voting in the new poll for those who already voted? I can't vote for an antagonist.

Also, guess I'll go ahead and add Nightmare Rarity to the villain poll. Most of us following the comic saw her coming from a mile away anyway.

Not at all. The 80s were a great time for metal and rock. However, there is still plenty of great metal being made today. Good music doesn't necessarily have and age limit, but unfortunately it's getting harder to find today.
