  1. Green Is My Color. (Right now I'd normally be saying "See what I did there?", but... you all did. XD) Also, I'm just a tad surprised to see the census gives a result of 82% male. I figured males would be the majority, but was not expecting it to be that high.
  2. Okay. So... I made a video about this "Alicorn" business recently. An excellent summation of my thoughts on the subject, and something I was eager to share with as many fellow bronies as I could. Posted it on the Pony Fortress 2 forums and was greeted with positive response. Made me smile on the inside. (And the outside.) Figured I'd do the same after I created my account here... and then I saw the discussion here and realized that the vid might not get the same reception. But you know what? I'm posting it anyway. In the end, I made this video so it would be *watched*, and not necessarily universally adored. But if that still happens here? Hey, icing on the cake. Mmmmmm.... cake. Incidentally, yes, that is me in the video, so now you can imagine that face and that voice whenever I make more posts on these forums. Also, yes, that is a picture of me bro-hoofing a person in a giant pony suit in the opening credits. That was taken at No Brand Con in Eau Claire, Wisconsin last May. This year's edition is in April, and I very much look forward to seeing a bunch of fellow bronies there again. (Note to mods: sorry if I put this topic in the wrong place. I consulted the forums posting guide and saw a couple of possible places to put something like this, and this particular board seemed like the best option.)
  3. The whole season in one day? Dang, man. Dedication. I are impressed. Welcome to the forum.
  4. First off, I very much agree that a "end of series" vibe was very much what I got from watching the episode. It felt like the end of the story, and if I didn't know season 4 was on the way, I might have guessed that this was supposed to be the end. On the other hand, I see plenty of potential places they could go with this. After all, while Twilight is the protagonist to this point, she's hardly the only important piece. Even if her development is over (and I don't believe that, she hasn't taken Celestia's role yet), the other characters have a lot of room to grow. In most situations like this, big companies aren't thinking long term, because they've started to take the audience for granted. I just hope the creative team doesn't do the same thing. But I doubt they will.
  5. Yeah... I don't get why anyone would be complaining about Hasbro's C&D orders unless they themselves were working on the thing that got pulled. Hasbro has actually been fairly cool about allowing the fandom to create various works of art based on the show. Other companies are a TON more strict with their IPs. Collectively, we have nothing to complain about.
  6. I've noticed there's a lot of that. At least one thread on the home page each time I have visited on this very topic. If we spent less time worrying about the conflict... we'd spend a lot less time worrying about the conflict. I know, not particularly deep insight, but it really does seem that simple.
  7. Censoring "loser" in the case of Trixie's line is the WORST possible time to do it, because given that she's an antagonist and a total jerk, it's entirely believable that she'd curse. And yeah, the two videos with loads of censor bleeps? Genius. Unfortunately, I can never watch the first two episodes quite the same way again. XD
  8. Aw shucks, wish I had joined the site and found this thread sooner. I would have loved to participate. I love talking about the fandom. But hey, hope the interviews you got went well, and if you ever do something like this again I'd be up for it.
  9. I have plenty to say on the topic of the fandom as it relates to the Twilicorn thing, but for now, here... let's just say some folks took it a bit too far, and I think they will (or already have, in some cases) realize their mistake. I just about had a panic attack after "Crystal Empire" (REALLY did not like that 2 parter), but by the time "Magic Duel" rolled around I was fully back on board. I think the same will be true with these folks. We don't give up. Not over something like this. We are positive folks and we always will be. That's a common thread I see among every brony I have met. This is what we have all chosen to be. And none of us would have it any other way.
  10. ^ YES. THAT SONG. Got that on a CD, and it's been a regular part of my commute to/from work for the past year. Among other pony songs, but that one's my favorite.
  11. YES. THIS. Part 2 gets my nod for best episode. Others that rank highly are, "The Last Roundup", "Sonic Rainboom", "Green Isn't Your Color", "Magic Duel", and "The Return of Harmony".
  12. Beyond the issue mentioned by the poster above? This is a solid drawing. Only other thing I noticed are that the legs look a bit too short, though if you make the same drawing with her thinner that might not be an issue.
  13. The BEST thing about the first Spider-Man movie (and it's a pretty darn solid flick) is the effect it had on the industry. Without the massive success of Spider-Man, we probably wouldn't have gotten anything like Marvel's Avengers project. And Batman and Superman were both shut down at that time... who knows how much longer they would have stayed that way had Spider-Man/X-Men not opened the floodgates? Spider-Man was my first major superhero cinematic experience, and as such will always hold a special place in my heart. In hindsight, it has only gotten better, as I've seen just how faithful Sam Raimi was to the spirit and tone of the silver age material. The only thing about it that hasn't aged well is some of the CGI they used, and the Goblin's costume. Since people have brought up the new one... might as well weigh in on that, too. Hated it. Tried to like it. Couldn't. Spider-Man has been my favorite superhero for years, but that was not Spider-Man. Most of my reaction was due to Garfield. His Peter Parker made me... irritated, to put it gently. The Raimi movie got so many little things right, and I was dumbstruck to see the new one get so many of those same things wrong.
  14. MLP itself, like Transformers and TMNT, is commercially driven and most of the associated properties are, on a conceptual level, toy commercials. Among little girls, princesses tend to drive sales, but Cadence, Celestia, and Luna don't have the visibility of the series protagonist. Twilicorn will be a huge merchandising deal. With that in mind, I have a hard time believing Twilicorn is about anything other than toy sales. Let's be real here. That's how the folks in charge see them. But here's the thing: it doesn't matter. That's a total red herring. It doesn't matter that Hasbro's suits look at Twilicorn (or MLP in general) and see dollar signs. That doesn't affect the quality of the product one bit. I'll never tire of saying that you can make a good movie/show out of anything, even a toy commercial. Most of this show is proof of that. If an episode is bad, that's on the creative team. They started making the season finale over a year ago. I didn't think the Twilicorn episode was bad, but if I did hate it I wouldn't be blaming Hasbro.
  15. I'm not technically "back", given that this is my first post here, but... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6o1wind1iUc ...this is how I want to make an entrance. Always. Anywho, been a brony since February of last year. Joined the Pony Fortress 2 forums last week, randomly stumbled upon this site, and figured I'd join here as well. The more bronies I can converse with, the better! I'll have videos and insights to share, especially when we get new episodes in the fall, and I look forward to getting to know this site and this community. Well, I already know the community reasonably well, and I know that it's awesome. So I'll be getting to know the community *more*. And stuff.
