    I've officially just had a fight with the one best friend I'd never fought with. Over interview clothes. We didn't even disagree. I love you man but you should have just told me to get custom tailoring. Yes, a suit for a female scientist really is like a suit for a male scientist with a different cut without a tie and with different shoes. Chill.

      We're both chemists. It was really a silly fight. Pretty much he got wound up over my lack of sense of corporate grace. His getting all wound up upset me, which made him mad. Him getting mad made me mad. We yelled at each other for 20 min or so before I excused myself. (We're both notoriously hot-headed, can you tell?) We made up six or seven hours later over breakfast in the space of about thirty seconds and hung out all day. I can't ever stay mad at my besties

      Nice. I have a few friends like that; we can argue and get all pissy, but a few hours later, one of us (usually me :P) will call the other one, we'll apologize, and go hang out.

       

      And chemistry is pretty cool. I've always been more of a physics guy, but recently, I've been looking into all kinds of weird and dangerous chemical stuff I can make in my garage :)

    Oh. well now I feel a little foolish. I guess I'm just too used to dealing with DnD crowds who cry "nerf the wizard" or "nerf the cleric" at every turn. So maybe the real solution to this the is actually a few episodes playing up how awesome the others already are (because Twi def. isn't doing some of the things the others are) I'd love to see Rarity in enchanted diamond armor a la Minecraft but I doubt I'll see my wish

    Well, my point is it wouldn't be like that. Ever play dungeons and dragons? Wizards are glass cannons and need their friends. Sure Wizards are awesome and powerful and throw fireballs and all that jazz but who's gonna be the tank? Yea the series isn't Adventure Time and they're not straight-up beating up monsters (as much as Rainbow Dash would love it) but the analogy still holds. Everyone has their place. We need our bards, rogues, monks, clerics, wizards, barbarians, and so on. Just because they're not all as flashy as the wizard doesn't mean they're not as powerful or less useful. Even AliTwilight could not take care of things on her own. Epic level wizards are still fragile for the most part. She can pwn much more evil with her friends than she ever could alone. Remember: friends are magic.

    Well I have no argument against personal appeal especially since I have no idea what your tastes are. I would agree with you that Twilight is overshadowing the others if the others weren't already hitting what would be considered "epic level" in their own right. Sure, Twilight is flashy but the epic level wizard is *always* flashy! Everyone has been leveling up. Rarity pulled a world famous fashion designer out to the boondocks to see her not once but twice and sold the shit out her designs and then not only pulled another pony couple's business out of bankrupcy and placed it directly into wealth. She can see the best in anyone and help them make not only a career out of it, but become fabulously wealthy from it. That's talent. Pinkie Pie is not only fearless but clairvoyant. Everyone is terrified but is Pinkie? Nope, and it's not because she's stupid; this one has ranks in knowledge: dungeoneering/arcana/the planes/etc. She disbelieves the illusion, laughs, and the tree spirits disappear. She recognizes parasprites immediately and recommends the solution. She senses a friend is in danger too so she speaks up, but she isn't pushy Fluttershy: epic level druid. Cmon, she talks down elder dragons. Rainbow dash out-flies even the wonderbolts. they're knocked unconscious what appears to be at least two miles below her not far above the ground without catching Rarity and she saves all *three* of them with no casualties. do you want me to crunch the numbers? She's lucky she didn't pass out and to pull that much weight after that? show-boating ah applejack. walked a tightrope to the freaking moon. also, can kick a tree so hard everything falls out of it. i'm going with epic level monk on this one

    I have a question: why did Celestia let her sister rot on the moon for a thousand years without launching a rescue and rehab mission to un-evil her? Seriously. A thousand years. Her sister. Do you think Twilight is gonna sit around for a thousand years and write Rarity off?

    Would they? We've seen how much a depressed Twilight even cared to fight when her friends left in The Return of Harmony. If she became overpowered to the point where she made them feel permanently useless, jealous, or both they would still serve a purpose; while they are her friends, they're not immune to normal emotion. She would either have to help lift them up or lose them. We'd see at best a broken Twilight and at worst an evil one. I'm pretty sure friendship will always be magic. I stand strong by my theory that everything breaks when friendship breaks in the series. Friendship cures Luna which makes me wonder what broke Luna in the first place. Isolation from friends was the secret ingredient in turning Rarity evil in the comics and dollars to donuts it's gonna be friendship that will cure her too. Even if the ponies went cold logic, there's solid precedent in friendship

    Bro, I'm an aspie too and it really used to bother me and make me second-guess myself until I realized that I have a lot to offer. Aspie just means your talents don't lie in the same placec as your peers. Yes, we are different but that's okay. In a world where the presents need to be wrapped, the others are the bows and ribbons, and we are the tape and box. We are the Twilight Sparkle and they are the Pinkie Pie. Embrace yourself and don't be ashamed.

    I'm surprised it's legal to test for nicotine when it's legal to smoke. I'm 29 years old! I'm a Jew. I would find it tasteless to make a doubledown sandwich with bacon and cheese, slathered in gravy and blood puding but I would never seek to outlaw it or exclude those who eat it. If I smoke off the clock, that's none of their business.

    This episode speaks volumes to me. My closest friends are often super busy so when I'm feeling moody I somehow worry that they actually don't like me and are "just being polite". This episode does a lot to make me feel better. Of course she was overreacting but think of it this way: if you love your friends dearly and with all your heart, how would you feel if you found they all actually hated you? The flour sack and rocks and such were a bit much but the feeling is still there. I have three very close friends and I'd be absolutely crushed if I found out they didn't like me.

    One of my best friends is Catholic. He's a kind, caring, open, loving person but oh he's Catholic. Pfft to the hate. Just because someone's prayers are different from ours doesn't mean the person praying is no good. Also, I'm pretty sure he knows I'm a MLP fan and if he doesn't, he wouldn't bat an eyelash at it.
