  1. I have drawn moar ponies. I decided to bite the bullet and have a go at my OC's. But first, a little backstory. These OC's have been with me for a long time, but not as ponies. They were created back when I was REALLY into Sgt. Frog/Keroro Gunsou, and I have now ponified them. They're meant to be a troupe of villains. There were some other changes too, for example the one in the middle was gender-bent into a mare. Anyway here's the picture: For the one on the left (in the peaked cap), I took a bit of inspiration from Trixie's design, which I think shows clearly. They will all probably go through some more fine-tuning until I reach a design I'm satisfied with. Thay're also unnamed as yet (and I'm terrible at naming) so I'll gladly accept suggestions. These are only three of eight total OC's. I'll draw the rest soon. As always, opinions are very much welcomed.
  2. Anything with Rarity in it automatically gets points from me. I love her expression in this, she just looks so exuberant! Also LOVE the Powerpuff Girls one too, looks really canon (as does Rarity) and takes me back to the days when I used to draw Powerpuff Girls.
  3. Thank you! Not nitpicking at all, I agree completely. In fact, one of the first things I'd like to do is start doing more new poses. I'm using the stock poses as a sort of "training wheels" for now until I get a better feel for how the ponies flow. Once I get more comfortable drawing in this style, I will definitely be using more varied poses. As for shading, I'll admit I'm not an expert at it, but I typically try to add some form of shading to most of my drawings, so expect to see that incorporated in the coming sketches as well.
  4. *squee* Thanks so much for the kinds words, all! It really means a lot to me. I'm glad you like the sketches, and I'm glad I was able to get close to the show's style. I have some OC's that I'm going to try my hand at drawing soon, and I hope to get your opinions on them when I post them~
  5. I have enjoyed drawing for a long time, but I've never really tried to draw ponies. So I decided to change that. First thing I did was look up an image ot Twilight Sparkle to use as a reference, and I made an attempt to draw her. Here's what happened: Having done that, I felt bold and decided to try freehanding some generic ponies based on what I had just learned. Then this happened: Apologies for the very rough sketches. So I'm going to continue practising and trying to get better at making ponies. My intended goal is to try to get very close to the official style, with a little bit of my own style thrown in for flavour. As this is my first go at drawing ponies, I'm eager to see what you all think, so constructive crits are appreciated and welcomed.
  6. Having been on 8wayrun, I can vouch for this. As for me, I can't say that MLP has profoundly changed my life or anything like that, but it has positively impacted it nonetheless. Like many, I have trouble with depression, and MLP is a way of escaping everything that makes me feel bad. For as long as I want to, I can give myself the luxury of seeing a world where everything always turns out OK. It lifts my mood when nothing else can, and makes me smile, even when I don't want to. It's a refreshing change from all the stuff people my age are "meant" to like. There's nothing adult, nothing sexual, nothing crass, nothing violent here. Just good clean fun and laughs, like cartoons used to be. MLP gives me the chance to be a kid again for a little while during the times when the grown-up world gets to be too much. I know it's just a kids' cartoon, meant to sell toys, but I owe MLP and its creators a lot for giving me that.
  7. I don't dislike dry cereal, but if given the choice, I'll prefer it with milk. I'm not averse to snacking on cereal right out the box, though. Some cereals though, I must have with milk, because I love how they taste when they're a little soggy. Those müsli type cereals with oat clusters in them taste fantastic to me after sitting in milk for a few minutes. Rice-Krispies type cereals too, for that matter.
  8. My favourite's probably Rainbow Dash in the Mane 6, tied with Rarity. But Fluttershy has a special place in my heart as I can definitely relate to her as well.
  9. I don't think he's insane. I always thought Spike had this strange mid-point of being mature, yet immature. He's definitely wise beyond his years, yet he can also be kind of an idiot. But this is why I love his character so much. I've always seen his relationship with Twilight as more of a big sister/little brother type, rather than a mother/son one, and in that respect his character fits that role perfectly. He's the chaos to Twilight's order. Spike's always been one of my favourites, and one of the characters that consistently makes me laugh/smile with his various shenanigans and one-liners. Plus, I can relate to his slacker nature directly.
  10. I was worried someone might be using this gif already, haha. I couldn't help it, it's my favourite, I love Sweetie Belle WAY more than is considered healthy.
  11. That's good news then! So far I feel very comfortable here, the community is very nice.
  12. People like to overreact for the sake of overreacting. Even if they don't like EG, it doesn't mean they have to stop liking the "regular" series. It's already been stated that it's not even canon, so it won't even affect the main series. It's rather like Star Wars. There's a lot of the expanded universe that I personally really dislike (and unlike this case, most of it actually is canon) and I just pick and choose what I do like and ignore what I don't and continue enjoying Star Wars in my own way. No harm done, no reason to pack one's bags and leave. For my part, in spite of how different it is, I'm looking forward to giving EG a try and I'm expecting to like it. If not, well the main series is still here and nothing's happened to it, so no worries.
  13. Hello, everypony. I'm obviously new here. I've been a brony for a while now, though I was more on the "casual fan" side of the fence orginially. It wasn't until fairly recently that I decided to dive deeper into the fandom. Sadly, I don't have any friends at all IRL that are also into ponies, so I feel like I'm missing the fun of sharing the fandom with others. So I was on the hunt for a good place to discuss MLP and meet other people who are as much into our favourite equine heroines as I am. After some time spent lurking, I decided to set up camp here. This place looks pretty friendly and the community seems to be more egalitarian than other forums. Most of the other forums I looked at were nice but had a lot of elitism running rampant which was off-putting. From what I could gather this forum doesn't appear to have a lot of that, which was refreshing. Anyway, that's all I have to say. I hope to be active and make a few friends here. Also looking forward to sharing some of my pony sketches with you all soon.
