  1. There are far worse things than this. Like ACTA and TPP, SOPA and PIPA, which has governments try to take control of what we do on the internet. So far google hasn't abused my trust in them, and I really don't think this will be used for anything other than what it says. Data control like this will become more and more common, what we really need is a framework to prevent the collected data from being abused. But of course, with major factions in the music, film, medical and other industries lining politicians' pockets to push through their profit-based laws, things aren't looking good for our freedom of expression. The recent debacle around SOPA/PIPA and now ACTA/TPP just goes to show how corrupt the system really is. Whether they are turned around by pressure from the people or pushed through regardless will go a long ways towards showing just how willing our rulers are to preserve our freedom and rights. I will keep believing google won't abuse the data they collect. The development in society towards a controlled information stream is worrying though.
  2. I really tend to say that my favorite ponies are Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie, although if I had to choose I'd probably say Fluttershy.. she's just too adorable.
  3. I do watch quite a lot of anime, mainly mecha and mahou shoujo. I loved Madoka. The list of anime I've watched/am watching is way too long to put up here, but I've watched a fair few of the more well known mecha shows (Getter Robo, Mazinger, Gundam, etc.) as well as some less known ones. Don't know what it is with me and mecha.
  4. Eeesh, the internet sure likes making me feel old these days. To be honest I did expect the age to be spread a little more out, and the average to be somewhat higher, but eh, what does it matter? A brony is a brony, regardless of age..
  5. Why hide watching a TV show indeed. Granted, I've gotten a lot of funny looks from my family and friends, but that won't stop me from watching the show while riding public transportation, or wearing my pony shirt (once it arrives!) in public. Especially not after I got brohoof'd on the light rail. That made all ridicule recieved ("look, he's wathcing a princess show") worth it. Not that I particularly care about the ridicule in the first place - people have their (mis)conceptions. I enjoy the show, if you think that's silly, your loss. I'll still enjoy it.
  6. The episode did not make me cringe any more than any other episode with awkward/embarrassing/unfortunate events. The episode held up to the overall quality of the show, which makes it well past okay in my book. It had charm, it had fun, and it had ponies. Then again, I'm an easy man to please. Whenever someone does some silly mistake and tries to hide or run or is terribly agitated over it, I feel like hiding behind my chair and going "Oh noooo!" I've never been good at handling those scenes. That's probably the most frequent cause of cringes for me. Which leaves me hiding behind my keyboard quite a lot ("no Spike, don't try to hide it, nononooooo!")
  7. So, uh, yeah. I'm Iron_Wofle. I'm a student from the cold and inhospitable(not really) land of Norway. In between studying computer engineering and taking evening japanese classes I mostly play games and watch anime (and MLP, of course). I also do a little bit of writing on the side, although I rarely manage to write something passable for other people to read. Most of it just stays as half-finished stories in my notebooks (sadly). I first started watching My Little Pony out of curiosity - having heard nothing but good things about it and wondering what all these "brony" shenanigans were about, I eventually started watching, and was sold pretty quickly. My favorite ponies are Fluttershy and Pinkie pie, my favorite episode would be Dragonshy, and my favorite moment is the Winter Wrap Up song. Lately I've been reading Fallout Equestria, which I've quite enjoyed. Within my current circle of.. communications, there are not all that many pony fans, so I figured it was time I looked for more people I can talk about all things pony (and other things, too) with. A quick trip down Google lane landed me here, which seems like a nice enough place. So, greetings, and merry thursday.
