I don’t mind the dark art, I like some of it and even I have some very sick ideas myself. I just wonder about people for which obscene or gore is their main or only theme of art, why don't they find other more suitable subject for their expression? Why ponies? It's just making it more difficult for me to understand the phenomenon of this show. It's a bit like in my case, I first became interested in the show and started to like it, but I stayed here for longer because it inspired me to return to the drawing which I abandon a long time ago. So are we the biggest, most diverse and creative fandom on the world? Maybe we deserve a place in the Guinness World Records book. Probably it's true for most bronies, but this doesn't fit mentioned dark art. I see that many people like to create original characters and write stories for them. I intentionally mentioned Star Wars because its universe has so huge potential - a lot of stuff can be created and put in it without influence on its consistency. I think that it have more potential than Equestria universe, but maybe being more down to earth is the key here.

There are already some threads about the community, but it seems to me that what I want to raise requires creating a new one. I apologize if I'm wrong. What I want to ask about maybe will be a little silly or maybe it's something obvious to everyone but me. The more I get to know the fandom the more I am amazed by its immensity. I wonder if my feelings stem from the fact that I've never got involved so much in any community before or maybe I really have to deal with the biggest fandom ever. I'm not talking about its size with the meaning of numbers of people, but I'm talking about its diversity. As far as I know that fans of the MLP:FiM are the people in almost every age, profession, nationality, religion or philosophy, gender, sexual orientation, social group, etc. As I'm interested in art and I draw doodle a little myself, I noticed that perhaps every kind of art can be found related to the MLP. People make plushies, sculptures, drawings, animations, music, games, write fanfics, comics and many other stuff related to the show. Almost every day (every week for sure) at least one new art related to MLP appears on deviantART. Majority of this is fan made, not commercial like in case of other subject. (Is there an English term to describe the subject around which fandom was created? franchisee?) Is this usual? Are other fandoms similar to this one? Star Wars is first what comes to my mind. As far as I know this franchisee, most related stuff had to be bought by fans (including me) from commercial sources. In case of MLP, most stuff is created by fans. I wonder what is so special about these ponies that they attract so many so different people? And gives them so much inspiration to creating things. After all, it’s just a simple cartoon, well written and well made. I know what drew me to this show, but I'm curious about whole. It would be beautiful if this would be a fanifest of people sick of the corrupted and rotten world who want to spread love and friendship, but it's not. You can find so many negative MLP art and fanfics – sad, gruesome and bloody. So much hate is spread by people who claim to be MLP fans. I don’t follow this love and tolerate thing myself, but I try to be friendly. So what a mystery lies in this, is it possible to find a common denominator for this phenomenon which draws so many diversities? Did It leave a permanent mark on our history?

I met with the opinion that some very wise and intelligent people is characterized by reticence. Such persons aren't giving their opinion if they don't see a necessity for it.

No, I just wanted to point out that her actions are not intended to spread chaos. Chaos arises eventually because of her acts, and this is a big difference in my opinion. I mean that she acts random and make chaos unconsciously, while the true embodiment of chaos, Discord, fully conscious causes chaos. Also not all Discord actions were so much cruel. The only thing that Pinkie Pie wants to change is to put a smile on sad faces. So maybe she's some kind of chaos figure, but this is completely different kind of chaos.

People here gave a lot of good arguments with which I mostly agree I just wanted to add that I am a person who would leave friends and family without regret to move to Equestria (Why? I just have my reasons!). More precisely to Ponyville. Many people charmed by this lovely place wrongly assume that is in the case of whole land. Of course I know that this world apart from not being utopian is also unreal. Because I can't live there, I'm trying to bring at least part of it to my real life. I would like to point out that such emotional terrorism is also very selfish. I mean, telling me that when I leave away for good then my family and friends will be sad, how can I even do them such a thing?! Actually I can, this is my life, there is no point to sacrifice myself when I gain nothing in turn or even my life is going worse (In brief, that's my reason). Before you call me selfish, belive me, I'm a person who tend to devote and sacrifice a lot for another person. Why others can't sacrifice something for my sake? I was hurt a lot because of my stupid friendly nature. The situation don't have to be so extreme, this is normal that some people leave their current place of living and set off to the world looking for better place. Another reason why Equestria is better place than Earth? Because it's filled by magic! Many people dream of living in magical world where they could do things impossible in real world. And there the strongest kind of magic is love and friendship.

The main story in MLP:FiM sooner or later will reach its end. It would be better to end it that pull it for longer with poor plot. If the show still will be very popular and still they will be making a lot of money, they would have done wrong if they start something completly new. So they should make some spin-off (a G4.5), the best would be adventures of adult CMC in my opinion. Or maybe some spin-off miniseries for different characters (e.g. Daring Do, Luna&Celestia before Luna banishment). This concept has proved its worth, and until most people like it, doesn't make sense to change it, at least not drastically. Don't kill the goose that lays the golden eggs

@@FNGRpony, No, even if Pinkie Pie create chaos she isn't chaotic by nature (not in that meaning). Only sometimes happen that she cause destruction. She is crazy but her actions aren't without purpose. About chocolate milk rain - so it would be better if she started to panic? She just tried (in her own way) cheer up others to not give up in so bad situation. And Pinkie Pie don't like chaos, look at "Too Many Pinkie Pies" episode, how she was sad when situation went out of control - when chaos spread because of her.

Perhaps the curse Sombra threw on crystal ponies caused that he had to be beaten only with the crystal heart. He drew strength from the suffering of crystal ponies. Something like this. So only weapon located in the empire could be successfully used.

Nope, they can't. In "The Return of Harmony", when discorded ponies tried to use EoT they failed to do anything. The spirits of harmony choses bearers, not the opposite. If the wielder is corrupted his/her element don't work anymore. It will work again when corruption will gone or when it will find another bearer. This abandoned castle could be the previous capital. The castle and surrounding area had not been abandoned without the reason. Some kind of dark magic permeates the entire forest. Probably a terrible disaster happened there in the past, or this is a natural cluster of powerful magic, discovered too late, and area had to be abandoned. This was a good place to hide EoH.

Maybe sisters didn't have trouble with beating him, but still they didn't kill him. But, oh, I forgot that sister have predilection to banishing and imprisoning villians than killing them (especially banishing ). Still his progress as unicorn is very impressive. For this reason, I think he won a lot more than other known villains. EoH are still more powerful than crystal heart. They only needs six wielders with strong friendship which is hard to beat. While sowing seeds of doubt and sorrow among crystal ponies is a lot easier. And crystal heart is rather a stationary weapon.

Being a Laughter doesn't mean that she tend to incite uncontrollable laugh. This is no chaotic or disharmonic role. Her role is to bring a smile to ponies faces, to make them feel better, provide better mood. She sometimes becomes a destructive force because she often doesn't think about her actions. Also she's often misunderstood.

You know what matters? The progress. Discord is not a good argument because he is some kind of divine being. Chrysalis had to resort to trickery and deception and she needed an army to wreak havoc. She defeated Celestia by accident, she didn't even expect that she would be able to drain so much love energy to gain so much power. She is probably the equivalent to an alicorn in her species. And what about Sombra? Exactly! He was just an unicorn and see how much he attained. He became so powerful that the two alicorn (so much powerful) sisters together couldn't kill him, they only managed to banish him (and he still managed to cast a curse on empire in meantime hiding it in the process.). And they rather didn't have turned him into shadow intentionally. He was too powerful to be killed and this form was probably the best option for him to survive with weakened strength - similar happened to Sauron. He probably gained immortality without being an alicorn. He ruled the whole empire alone. And what killed him also beat other villains, the magic of love and friendship amplified by the crystal in the shape of a heart. And the energy of all crystal ponies in whole empire was needed for this.

From this perspective, he definitely won. For over 1000 years he dominated the whole empire. Because even after he was exiled, his magic still had a strong impact on the empire and it was hidden for those 1000 years. In addition, he was defeated with great effort by ponies+Spike. He almost won, only thanks to Spike (hobbit LOTR reference?) he was defeated. His curse was so strong that even such a powerful being as alicorn (Cadance) has much trouble with keeping his magic away from re-invading.

Kids shouldn't be scared so much due to a little more dark content in MLP. Look at other cartoons. As a young child I watched Disney cartoons where is a lot of dark themes, death and very bad villains.

It's like in RPG games, all ponies have mana, some more, some less. Earth ponies and pegasi just have not enough mana to learn and cast spell. But still they can use magic - like magic of friendship that don't need mana, or all have enough mana to use it. Pegasi flying and cloud walking abilities are some kind of passive magical abilities. Horns are in a kind of wands or staffs needed to cast spells. In other words, all living being in Equestria have some magical energy/essence, but not all of them can visually (at will) manifest it.

No villain ever win, everyone was defeated, so even when they won the battle(s) they lost the war. If Sombra character is a reference to Sauron, then Twilight and Spike mission refers to Frodo and Sam journey.

I understand that all people like arguing what thing or character is best in their opinion. But all that "best pony - (and you're dumb if you've different opinion)" thing is just wrong. I look with pity on topics like "pony A and pony B - who is best?". I think that those people should stop watching the show, they just gone too far with emotionally involving into it. We (they) should understand thet there is no best pony. Who is the best can only be considered in terms of particular traits, abilities, etc. It can be argued which pony is best on magic or best in some kind of craft. Twilight is the most important pony rather than the best one - but still more correct would be stating that all of mane six are equally important - without them Twilight wouldn't be able to use EoH and later become princess.

At least doubled episode time. Maybe a little increased age limit to allow more evilness, viciousness and violence for villains. More locations and expand mythology.

I'm afraid that they are too small, but I could carry one on my hands . But if they were bigger, of course i would like to ride them, mostly pegasus to also have chance to fill how it is to fly. I'd love to ride Fluttershy, I could hug her while riding .

Of course they can. Otherwise, if it would be canon that only mares can become alicorns we would be dealing with gender discrimination. And this is unlikely to happen in this show. A better explanation is that MLP world is dominated by female, as our is dominated by male (for now). So there is more likely to mare become alicorn.

@, I think that assigning elements of nature to villains is quite interesting, though incorrect. Of course they represents darkness, chaos or other bad things (name them like you want), but as you said, it shouldn't be taken seriously. I like how you argued their elemental traits. If one think more about it, these comparisons are not senseless or over-thinked so much.
