The only one not diagnosed with.. something?
Iudicium86 replied to Zygen's topic in General Discussion
Must say I get this feeling sometimes as well. I hang around furry circles as well and so often I'm the only one that can't be used to define something in the DSM. And I have noticed a lot of self-diagnosed aspergers in various fandoms as well, but who never bother to get it professionaly checked out. I think it's part of some growing trend to have something about you. Almost like total collective cognitive sanity is somehow out of vogue lately in the new generations. -
I wouldn't say the other ponies aren't compassionate about their duties or fields, but in an earlier post I mentioned that I sense a deep seated and long lasting passion for her work. But that could either be my own ability to actually relate to her on the fashion level (having gone to fashion design school) or the fact she's the artist of the group. To create real world equivalents, artist types often stay in their fields longer than other professions or just retire on 'paper' but still active in the field. Art is life. Twilight would be Academics fields, Dash is Athletics and Sports Fields, Pinkie Pie is PR and other Social Events fields, Applejack would be in the Agriculture or even blue collar/labor Fields, and Fluttershy would be in the field of Zoology and possibly even Medical field to an extent. Many of these other professions and life works usually have some expected retirement age while artists often do their thing until the day they die. Again, not saying that any of these professions with real people or with ponies have any less drive from their demographics (I know players love their sport, and people get personal fulfilment from healing people, etc) but in something like sports, farms, and medical there is only so much you can do before it's time to put down the ball, research paper, scalpel, or wrench. But when it comes to art, it's never finished. History if full of writers, painters, actors, directors, musicians, and other creatives that died with unfinished work.

Well count me in this apparently small pool of males that have Rarity as #1 pony. Sure, she may act outside her element sometimes, but that makes her very dynamic and real. Also, I do relate to her very well, being one of (i suppose) very few male bronies that share her sense of class and style to the point of even going to fashion design school. But I would agree that the larger portion of males in general just can't relate to her or characters even like her. The others have much more common themes and behavior that plenty of males could see in themselves or at least enjoy (partying, competition, nerdyness, etc) while Rarity and her entire manner of character is just "the other" But maybe if her behavior could be looked at deeper they'll see something to relate to. Like while the others have a lot of drive for a goal (like Dash) I feel Rarity is the one with the most deep-seated and honest passion for what she does. And maybe it's that passion that she has so much of that it seeps out into the more apparent generosity with others.

Might work like that, if oppression of racial/religious/sexual/etc groupings was never a thing. Pride is a reaction, a defiance of being oppressed or shamed by others. Long as there are folk out there rallying for only "Traditional marriage", firing employees only because they found out he/she was homosexual, murdering the 'fag', denying adoption rights, refusing donated blood, or any other acts against a sexual minority, there will be the opposing force of Pride.

I never had any lasting 'crush' or feelings like that for any actors, but much rather just specific roles or appearances. Like the first huge fanboyism of mine for an actor was Brad Pitt, but not just him, but specifically his look and portrayal as Achilles in the movie Troy (2004) Then more recent have been Hunter Parrish in his role of Silas Botwin on the series Weeds (Showtime, 2005) And also Thomas Dekker as a young John Connor in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2008)

There have been quite a few as I grew up, and also still do even to this day xD although video games have been providing me with some studs and cuties to ogle over more than cartoons these days. Mordecai (Regular Show) He's so chill, a huge gamer, and a guy I would like to hang around and have some drinks with. Cheetor (Beast Wars) It takes a lot more for me to develop any 'crush-like' feelings for mechanical beings, but maybe it was a combination of factors like his voice and spunky energy that won me over. Wasn't a fan of his later forms like the transmetal or beast machines version though. Matt (Digimon) A pretty common one Sonic the Hedgehog (Sonic X) I know, primarily a game character, but there were multiple incarnations of cartoons spanning from 90s to 2000's with the Sonic X version being my favorite. Ritsuka (Loveless) Anime counts here right? lol Most fav catboy ever!! Wargreymon (Digimon) That form! That armor! Those muscles! hnngg >.< Flamedramon (Digimon) I can't even begin to start on this one. Nor could I explain in full, being that things must stay PG-13 here right? x3 just... omg! <3

Try EVE Online. The definition of an MMO in the truest sense. Single server for all players. Events happening on other side of galaxy can affect you even if not involved. Battles can reach a few thousand active players fighting in a single space together at once. Player Pirates roaming around. Emergent gameplay, Player made events in-game. Lots of espionage and subversion and even theft in corporations (the 'guilds' of EVE). Entire wars to control sovereignty space. Plus so much more. Just can't be a sore loser or someone expecting any hand-holding like more typical MMO's do. EVE doesn't just look like a cold and merciless space, it is a cold and merciless galaxy.

The Green Mile: When they're executing John and all crying because they don't want to, knowing he's innocent and a good man. Grave of the Fireflies: When Setsuko is hallucinating, showing how close the end is near for her. Star Trek II: Not only Spock's death, but the following scene with Kirk getting severely choked up speaking. Schindler's List: The end when Oskar breaks down, regretting holding onto anything and counting how many more he could've saved instead.

She speaks in Mid-Atlantic English As for my own views, she it definitely best pony and I very much identify as the Rarity amongst my friends lol. Oh, and we both do share a sense of fashion and style, I even went to Fashion Design School for two years I just love her characterization and depth, and relate so well to her mannerisms. She needs more lines and episodes.

THE worst pain you have ever experienced
Iudicium86 replied to ~Sugar Sprinkles~'s topic in General Discussion
Thank goodness this has only happened once, and hope to never feel it again, but a couple years ago while washing dishes, I leaned forward and out of the blue an ultra sharp fine pain struck my lower back. Wasn't pain, but total torture. It put me on the ground instantly, with such pain I couldn't even move or make any noises or cry for help. It just felt like a needle-nose pliers pinching my spine nerves. I could only lay still on the kitchen floor on my back, clenching teeth until thankfully it passed maybe 30seconds later. For a while after there was some sensations through the night. Never got figured out what it was. -
music Most beautiful music you've ever heard?
Iudicium86 replied to GrauWitz's topic in Media Discussion
These guys are amazing at bringing new life to the classical sound and keeping it alive. Should check them out, they also did a great Star Wars musical battle video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRVvFYppU0w -
This is just my universal screen name and online gaming tag. Or least some variation of it. I can be found under this name everywhere else I'm active, like FurAffinity, Furry Forums, Gay forums and profile sites, eBay, etc.

I am slightly curious how many people might handle talking about these matter to their children, but then he/she asks if a man and another man can do any of these 'special hugs' or other euphemism. Or woman+woman for that matter too.

Or any male characters to begin with. Seems one of the best male characters with some real involvement in any story arc was a villain. Discord! But of course him being de Lancie doing his Q role just makes him that awesome anyhow lol. It seems Equestria society places males at such a lowly role and with oppression. Only around to do the manual labor and act as guards around palaces. Maybe an 'uprising' episode is needed x3 the stallions and colts banding together picketing and protesting for more freedom to have careers and even some seats on governing bodies like Mayors or City Counsils that the mares enjoy so freely and openly.

movies/tv What makes a good horror film?
Iudicium86 replied to Electric Velocity's topic in Media Discussion
To me, horror is about atmosphere and subtlety. I love horror films and books, and an element I always liked was the unkown. 'slasher' and thriller movies don't cut it. Or one with a defined monster/creature to destroy. Might be a scary movie, but doesn't reach the levels of horror. I read H.P. Lovecraft a lot, and sadly no half decent film has been adapted despite many attempts and being a major influence on the horror genre to this day. Anyhow, what I mean is I like things with a slow buildup and just hints of the big picture. There's something wrong the whole time, but you can't put your finger on it. And even when piecing together the horrors beyond your comprehension, it only gets worse and more dreadful as you realize there is nothing to do to stop it or run away. Your life and existence only shrinking as you break down with the reality that you are powerless and helpless, unable to do anything other than go mad or just accept your fate against something so grand. Horror shouldn't have happy endings! Horror leaves you with a lasting sense of dread even after the movie is over, and you're afraid to be in the dark or be alone, lest the same fate befall you, whether real or simply just mentality as you are shown just how defensless and small the human mind and body can be. Destroy the monster? HA! Sounds like an adventure. Use an ancient seal to banish the evil for good? Will make a good story for the kids. To me, horror is about your own weakness and helplessness, both physical and mental, against something you can't possibly fight or even understand. We go around thinking we'd get through things. But reality sets in when shown how vulnerable the human condition truly is and keeps you up at night. -
Wow, 400+ pages, not sure if I have anything to contribute that might've not been already posted xD Anyhow, big metal fan here. Though 'metal' is quite a broad term but I'm guessing all is welcomed here. Personally, I tend to like some metal with classical elements for that bombtastic raw epic atmosphere. Lots of refinement and structure. Classical infused with metal is really great too. At risk of repeating something from thread page 300's or so, I'll post a few things. mega thread Song Stuck in your Head Right Now
Iudicium86 replied to Blue Moon's topic in Media Discussion
'Addicted to Love' by Robert Palmer. Classy stuff and catchy voice lol. I like quite a bit of music of this style and era. Lots of staying power. -
Great to find this thread and support on the forums, and by extention, the fandom. But I never really imagined less from MLP fandom. We ARE about love and tolerance afterall <3 lol Not to mention our generation in general is moving farther from older bigoted ways of previous decades. And to answer any curiosity, gay male here. Or, stallion that fancies other stallions x3
