  1. My favorite is definitely The Fall of the House of Atreus. It's wild, it's crazy, it has TWO incidents of serving up human flesh. The Trojan War, adultery, matricide...it's a soap opera for the ages.
  2. Use an app like Lastpass and having different user names & passwords won't be a big deal. Just make sure the device you have it installed on is secure.
  3. The wife is forcing us to watch Halloweentown. I guess it could be worse. At least she enjoys it. And it's better than all the sequels put together.
  4. It's sad but true that violence is often the way out of being bullied. Another way out of it is to stop giving the bullies reason to bully. No reaction is one way. Stopping strange behavior is another. However, you shouldn't stop being yourself to do this. Training a martial art can be very good for the bullied. Even if you never use it, having at least a little skill, something to DO, gives you confidence. And when you have confidence, you tend not to get bullied, do you? Consistently reminding yourself not to be dependent on the approval of others is another way out. Eventually you'll stop giving off those signals that say "bug me, I'm fun to bug".
  5. Flying, for sure. However, the OP's offering of stopping time is a good one. It eliminates the need for speed: you just go walk over to where you want to be, no matter how long it takes. I would like the exhilaration of flying, however.
  6. I get very impatient with people who cannot make decisions in a timely manner. Like "What should we have for dinner?" If the other person can't come up with at least a couple of suggestions, or a definite choice, in a half-minute, or even tell me, "I'm thinking about it," I'm going to get frustrated. I can think of choices. I don't have to deeply ponder the issue. Trying to get involvement from others in decisions like that can be upsetting.
  7. As a little kid? Swing on a swingset with a friend and look at mountains on a sunny day. There's a hilly spot in my elementary school playground where they had swings and you could see the mountains over a forest out back. Strange angle. Couldn't really get that view from anyplace else.
  8. Do you mind if we improve the dialogue a bit? I am interested in Acheron's role but his dialogue is clunky ("such as yourselves" is repetitive, for example). I am mentally pronouncing the name "Akeron"; please correct me if that is not so.
  9. @theOP: do you still need voice actors? I could do the Father Dash lines. Let us know if this project is still on the go, and if you need more actors.
  10. You're selling a service. Charge what satisfies your self-esteem in return for doing the work. Otherwise you will always feel ripped off. If you have a great service and people value it, you will have a market. And when people pay more, you can feel better about putting in more effort. Since you're serving fewer people, you can do that. There will always be people who think your price is "too high." They don't value what you do. And there will always be people who think what you offer is fair or even a steal at that price. They value your skill. These are the people you want as customers.
  11. Update: I have been around much longer than the internet has, but only just learned about the existence of zombo.com
  12. Good subject line! Made me smile. Welcome, I'm new here myself. Yay!
  13. "Nom" = American English "Num" = British English. Clearly. Following the convention of "Mom" and "Mum". Note: In Swahili, the 'N" is silent.
  14. Underworld Prompted by another pony--reminded me about this album
  15. School topics, business, how to find a job, life in general. Go ahead! I know a thing or two about a thing or two. And you'll feel better!
  16. The Tesla car is cool. My dream car is a luxury sedan. Comfort, power, SILENCE. Top speed is pointless because you cannot use it. Acceleration is more important. You don't see a nice exterior body when you're seated inside. You see the dash, feel the steering wheel and the shifter. You feel the seat. Being able to transport some friends around is good, too.
  17. Not that I'm interested in an early exit in any way whatsoever, but I could happily die listening to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7DBoiyBoJ8 It has a sort of "slipping away" mood. @Kyouko, I like Underworld and that album too. I am quite impressed with the quality of submissions in this thread. Ponies seem to have good taste in music.
  18. I'm more critical than not. Sometimes I'm too critical with people I'm familiar with. Much more so than strangers. How I try to balance this out is by giving praise and appreciation when somebody does something right. If someone does something new, or different from what I can do, then I am likely to tell others about it, and let the person who did it know that I think what they did is cool. If I see someone doing a task in a half-assed way, though, I'm also going to speak up about it.
  19. LOL I had two pointless dreams last night--don't dream that often. First one, my family was driving in a small car to deliver a bird in a cage to someone to watch while we went on holiday. My dad got lost driving and we ended up going down a huge grassy & muddy hillside. The name of the person we were supposed to be dropping the bird off with was a customer of mine with a very unusual name (Yosemite), who I haven't talked to in some time. Second one, my brother and I were in a shop trying to find Christmas gifts. After looking at some sort of automated briefcase that opened up when you pushed a button (and had an awful interior that looked like a shirt I used to wear when I was painting...it was so ugly it didn't matter if it got messed up), the clerk brought over a porcelain statue. It had three Christmas elves sticking off the sides, that looked identical, and were of that Hermey character in the Rudolph Christmas special. Apparently they were similar to Christmas decorations my parents had (in the dream--I have never seen such hideous things in real life), though the elves kept breaking off. We were excited about the find and agreed to buy and give one each of these ugly decorations. Most of my dreams are anxiety or indigestion-driven. These two I ascribe zero significance to and are just stitched-together mental nonsense.
  20. Well, I do know a thing or two about branding... I have seen a few threads in the help subforum that I could contribute to. Hopefully there will be others.
  21. This is where I insert the Cat's picture: "It's YOU!", right? That didn't take long for you to find me here. VERY disturbing. /)
  22. Well y'know this is the MLP forums, not Penthouse forums. Free speech is great, and NSFW free speech can go on somewhere else. Man, I forgot about cloppers. Thanks for the reminder, Batbrony
  23. Rainbow Dash for sure. And I didn't see Spike, the much-needed foil, on the list! I like Rainbow Dash's confidence, speed and loyalty. Surprised Fluttershy is doing so well in the poll. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLTZctTG6cE
  24. I'm new here but congratulations on your service to the forum and for investing your time. So many people get stuck on "what's in it for me?" and never do anything that doesn't bring them money. In an interview one time, I was asked "Why would you do that?" about some volunteer work. The guy was genuinely confused. He offered me the job, but I didn't take it. Best of luck with your studies & future work.
  25. I realize this event has happened, but if they run it again in Richmond/Vancouver next year, here's some info: Richmond is a suburb of Vancouver. Its sort of an island/silt deposit where a big river meets the ocean. You will not be out in the woods, and you will not see any bears. Many asians have immigrated there since the policy was opened up after 1986, and so there is a large Chinese population. If you are attending, expect prices to be much higher than you're used to--unless you live in NY or CA. Pub beer will be at least $6-7 a pint. Alcohol is not available in every store like it is in the US: it is sold by licensed provincial (state) stores only. You cannot buy it in gas stations, WalMart etc. and the provincial stores are closed on Sunday and at 11PM. Many pubs or bars will have a licensed "cold beer & wine store" attached to them, though, which are open on Sundays. Note the closing time of 11PM. Bars/pubs/restaurants will generally continue to serve until 2AM. I don't drink, but have friends who do: so if you do, plan ahead. There are many suburbs of Vancouver, all around it in a huge valley & plain, and there are a lot of bridges and one highway. So traffic can get terrible at times. But since you are going all the way to Richmond, I strongly recommend doing something to get out and see the area. There are lots of mountains right there and great views. Lots and lots of restaurants. The Vancouver area is a big place. If you can get to Downtown Vancouver, there are plenty of restaurants that charge a reasonable meal fee (around $10-12) to get you in there, because they will break even on that but make money on drinks. If you do go outside, expect to see many more cyclists than you're used to. Even though the Vancouver area is hilly, people like to exercise and bikes are not just for people who cannot afford a car. The official hotel seems to be sold out. There are many other hotels around, but do expect them to cost more than you are used to. Any feedback from attendees?
