  1. Yeah, its good and all. I enjoyed watching it for the clever special effects they did back in 1968. Still, I wish I understood what was going on better.

I've heard if it, but never watched it. I still want to watch it, because it does kinda sound like a good movie, dispute it being weird.

  2. I just got through watching 2001: A Space Odyssey, and all I have to say after that experience is...what the hay did I just watch? Now, in Ponies The Anthology II , the ending sequence was one big movie reference to 2001 : A Space odyssey. After watching the Anthology II, I was interested in seeing it, but not enough to really go through with it. However, after taking an Art of Film class in college, and watching a nostalgia critic video, I decided to finally sit down and watch it. Now, the parts in Anthology that had to do with this movie were...how do I put it...confusing. I figured that since I hadnt actually seen the movie, thats why the references seemed to be so wierd. However, after watching it, I am actually MORE confused about the meaning of the movie itself. The beggining I understand...sort of. And the bulk of the movie seemed to make sense as well. It is the end that is confusing me. What happened, whats with him getting older and older in some wierd scene transistions, then looking at the Black Rectangle Thingy (as I called it) , and then suddenly he is a baby or something that is inside of a glowing orb. Then, the orb and baby go to space, right outside of earth, aaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnd then its over. Roll credits. The end. Like, what in the world? What does it MEAN. It must be meaningful for the movie to be so famous, but can somebody help me with this?

TLDR: 2001: A space odyssey was really wierd and confusing. Can somebody please explain to me what it meant?

  3. Don't worry

Season 4 is confirmed with 26 episodes

and this Season Finale was pretty much a 3 parter according to Megan

    here is your proof :)

    attachicon.gifCapture.JPG

I keep hearing people say that this season finaly was aweful, but honestly, I loved it. Sure it seemed rushed and the songs could have been a bit better, but overall it was just great. The animation and visuals were great, the alicornification was cool, and we got to see rainbow dash be happy with twilights new wings. I may be in the minority though. Not to say that you said that you didnt like it, this has just been on my mind.

  4. Well everyone today is the big day, I have made no secret at my concerns about this but whether this turns out for good or for ill we all need to

pull together as a community and exercise some degree of humility with

the "I told you so's" that will inevitably come regardless of how this

turns out. Chaotic Discord brought up an excellent point in an another

thread and that is if people want to hate something they will, and of

course this also works the other way I wanted to like this show so I

kept an open mind gave it a try and did and it I am very glad that I

did. Not only did I discover a good show but also a great community

around it that I am proud to be a part of and will still remain a part even if the worst happens in the episode later today.

It is because of this that I have decided to

until I have seen the episode toss these concerns aside and watch this

episode not as someone who thought the idea was way too soon to be

justified at this point in the story but like how I was when I first

gave the show a try as someone who gives it a fair chance. If there is

one good thing that has come out of this it is that I now appreciate

Twilight Sparkle as a character more than ever for a while I overlooked

her as I often do with the "leader" characters but then a few months ago

she became a second to Applejack who I have made no secret I have long

thought of as best pony but a few days ago I came to an epiphany that she is tied with Applejack for best pony.

    If

anyone can pull this episode off it is this talented team of writers

and I have faith that so long as Hasbro has let them do their thing that

everything will be fine so lets all watch this episode together as a

community and try to reserve our comments until after watching the

    episode.

Okay, I am super worried about something now that I have seen the episode. Is MLPFiM over now? Or is there going to be a season 4? Please tell me that it is not over. Im sure that this is making me sound dumb and desperate, but I really would like conformation, one way or the other.

  5. I've edited your title a bit, because we've got other threads that are just talking about what ponies you're like, in general. Since your thread is specifically going deeper and has a more specific goal, I felt it should have a more distinctive title ^^

    Yup. Sounds like Pinkie.

I believe I am rather like Twilight.

I'm not for wanting a ton of friends, I like to have my small group of really good friends, and I also really enjoy my quantity of alone time. I prefer the night over the day, because it's calmer, quieter and easier to focus. I have traces of OCD, though it's nothing noteworthy, mostly just in constantly checking things and pacing xD Though I don't read much, I do love writing, and have a pretty active imagination.

I am the same way. However, I think that it kind of depends on what I am doing as to which pony I am most like. In school, I am the smart kid in class, to the point where my classmates don't even question whether I am right or wrong. I love reading and do moderatly well in school. I have my OCD moments and love to have good grades.

So in that respect I am like twilight.

However, I am also an avid runner, and a competive person at heart. Even if I know that I will lose, I always give it my all, never giving up or surrendering. In track, I always boasted loudly that I would get first place in every race I did that day. Unfortunatly, I never would. Nevertheless, I gave it my all, always striving to improve myself. I even got myself to varsity on the Cross Country team. I am cocky and headstrong when it comes to athletics.

So in that respect, I am like Rainbow Dash.

When it comes to the affairs of love, I am definitally more like fluttershy. I am timid and shy around girls I like, especially when I talk about my feelings for them. Its for that reason that I have been single for over 3 years, even though I have had several friends tell me that a certain somebody had their eye on me.

I know that this has dragged on for a bit, but I will finish of will one last major character I share many traits with.

    Pinkie Pie

When around my friends, I am always happy and cheery, making jokes and being silly. My friends tell me that while I can be a bit annoying at times, they can count on me to brighten their days.

I hope that is not to much or to far off point.

  6. I know we are so not done yet. We are just getting started, since we are getting bigger every day as a fandom community of bronies.

We can start a Revolution, that's if it's ok with you guys. :)

We can start a Revolution? Haven't we done that already. Look at everything we have accomplished together. Ponies are everywhere now. What started out as a new girls television show has become the source of entertainment, charity, and creativity for tens of thousands of people. Thats a revolution if ever I have seen one.

    Everypony...

    ...everypony...

    ...listen carefully.

    *deep breath*

DON'T YOU #$%@ THIS UP FOR ME! I NEED MY PONIES!!! I've only been a brony for two months, and I'm not giving all of this up right after discovering it!!!

    attachicon.gifpinkiemad.png

Anyway, on a serious note. This fandom is going to have a very bright future regardless of whatever Hasbro or the world throws at us, as long as we put our hearts to it. And I see a lot of committed hearts, here! ^_^

One of the things I look forward to someday is bringing my eventual kids to BronyCon, and I'm going to do whatever it takes to make that vision a reality. For every brony here today and every brony yet to come.

Yeah, people say that this fandom is dying, but I disagree. Just look at the Invader Zim fandom. The show has been over and done with for years now, but you can still find merch in stores, still see it on the internet, and (at least on deviantart) I still see new fanart and content for that popping up everyday. Invader Zim was never as big as the brony community was and is, so dont worry. Even if the show ends and half of all bronies give up interest, we will still be able to access tons of new pony content with each new day. Because those that truely love it, and Im sure Im not the only one to say that I love this show to death, will create new content regardless of what others think or do.

i dont get why everyone is all upset.. i doubt they will keep Twilight as a Alicorn forever... if thats what all this fuss is about.

Otherwise, i have no idea and you all need to stop complaining.. grow up, complaining RARELY gets rewarded well

Even if they DO keep her as an alicorn forever, I am sure that it wont be that big of a deal. People freak out over the slightest stuff. I remember them freaking out about roid rages tiny little wings. My point is, the fuss will die down eventually.

  7. In all likely hood, yes there are. Maybe not a large portion but there are definitely at least a few here and there.

Everybody's got a thing for something. It could be for ponies or Ravioli.

Whatever they do in the bedroom is their business and they can do what they want.

Ravioli? Interesting word drop. Are you trying to tell us something here? *wink wink nudge nudge* In all seriousness though, I agree compleatly, just so long as it doesnt hurt anybody.

  8. All fandoms have numerous examples of what you have just mentioned every one of them. To call out a community for being the worst is an assertion with no data that could possibly support you because every single bad thing you can say about any fanbase applies to any other fanbase. Your position is very similar to many anti bronies I have seen " The Brony fandom is terrible because (insert bad thing here)". It an argument that doesnt work. All fandoms have a outspoken vociferous minority, the larger the fandom the larger that minority.

I have taken part in many fandoms including the Star Trek, Dr Who, Star Wars, Star Gate, Adventure Time, DC/Marvel, Darkwing Duck ect. My best experience by far has been the Brony fanbase as Im sure many will agree. This forum being a pretty decent example, I have had and have seen numerous disagreements and all resulted in a discussion rather than horrible threats and derogatory insults. In fact the Brony fan base is the only one in which I havent yet been given a threat. If you go to places like 4chan, youtube, and reddit you are going to see some of the more vociferous people(at least in my experience).

I agree compleatly, if you look deep enough into any community, especially one of this size and scope, you are bound to find some unsettleing things.

  9. We all know about the poster, but where do you buy it? It's not showing up on the Walmart site and I can't find it in-stores. Anypony got a clue where I can get this?

I found mine in walmart. I actually got two mlp posters for the low price of FREE. The lady took one look at the posters my friend was trying to buy and said,"Oh these are free". It took me literally 1 second to turn around and run back to the place the pony posters where at and grab two different one for myself. One was the map of equestria, the other had all season 2 characters. It was awesome.
  10. .

Alright, so I needed t a moment to collect my thoughts after watching this video. Not because I think that Howard made any sort of intelligent point that I needed to look in to, but to contemplate the sheer stupidity of this.

When I saw that you said this, I could not agree more with your statement. I reacted basically the same way. This picture sums up my reaction pretty well.:post-2080-0-43791300-1346913498_thumb.jpg

  11. Ahh, honesty I like that!

Still, really good job on the game mate! Twas fun to play, you know, till Mr. Shadowbolt felt like opening a can of hurt on me lol

dont feel bad, I die on him all the time and I PROGRAMMED him.

Look behind you  ...... Just kidding. That would be little strange would it not?

yup, especially since Im up against a window on the second floor of my house, you would have to be a talented ninja in order to do that.
  12. I got ear raped ;_; and even after i turned me sound off... it was going at full sound.

But its not bad :P i didn't kill the boss though V_V

Yeah, they told me that I made the shadowbolt on level 2 to difficult ;)

I got ear raped ;_; and even after i turned me sound off... it was going at full sound.

But its not bad :P i didn't kill the boss though V_V

oh, and sorry about the ear rape. I had trouble finding suitable music, and by the time I did, I completely forgot to try to change the volume and stuff. My bad...heh heh....sorry.

The only thing I could think of would be to upgrade the bullets, but even then...

It's good that it's finished and is pretty polished. That is a rare feat alone for the average gamemaker user.

Your going to have to make a completely different game if you want it to stand out because right now it just looks like a more advanced version/modified version of one of the tutorials they give you which is fine, your a beginner. If you want to make a game that people think more of then just a flash-type game, you need to make a new experience for them. You have to come up with unique game mechanics and game play to interest the player who has, at their finger tips, thousands of professionally made games.

It's hard to make memorable games as an indie game maker so you have to get creative. Make something they haven't seen yet. Of course you may not be at the level to make something they haven't seen yet which is fine. Continue making small simple games and soon you'll be at the level to make game's they haven't seen yet. (of course by then you might move on to a better engine like Unity or coding it from scratch with C++ or Java)

wow, thanks for the advice. I was planning on learning c++ or something similar over this summer since I have nothing better to do anyways.

    Pretty good!

Beat with all characters and only raged once at the shadowbolt with Pinkie Pie.

Also, Pinkie Pie's theme is awesome!

I cant take credit for that, its comes from youtube, its pinkies theme for fighting is magic.

Visual Basic is not a gaming programming language at all!

Basically you create forms with it. Basic programs with text fields, command buttons, text boxes, etc.

Oddly enough he did make a "game" with it somehow.

I suppose thats impressive, in its own right.

Sure I can suggest maybe some more random boss attacks, because after you got into the feel of things it got kind of easy to predict so. I'd say start with that because after you found 'the sweet spot' with all the ponies. All of the sweets spots being different than the others. I found it pretty enjoyable. I found it pretty easy after the sweet spot was found. I found Rainbow Dash the most challenging to beat. Other than that keep me posted if your going to make more levels and stuff when you do send me a message or something and I will certainly come back and give it another go. I rather enjoyed this game because, it was just like a flash game so I was very addicted to it and found it hard to quit until I beat it with everypony.

    Keep me posted~~

I will do my best, Once I update it, you will be the first to know. Well, besides me of course, unless you were in the same room as me when I was doing it, and you noticed it was finished before I did. That would be interesting.....anyways, Ill tell you when I do.

  13. I was actually trying to make a game like this for a while, but I stopped because I couldn't get the controls to work perfectly. Oh well, just another file added to my hard drive of unfinished work...

I got tons of those. I was probably only able to finish this because it was for a class.

    i love it.

thank you very much. I know the music choice and sound effects are not perfect, but im glad you enjoyed it.

Not bad... I found Fluttershy easiest to play as, because of the wavy projectiles. Rainbow's straight projectiles just didn't suit me, and Pinkies random projectiles were too hard to control...

yeah, originally I had all the characters shoot in the same way, but I decided that was boring. So I decided to make each character shoot in a way that suited their personality. RD was really straightforward, since she is all about just going fast, fast, straight bullets worked best for her. Pinkie is crazy and random, so her bullets mirror that. And fluttershy is gently and graceful, so her bullets have an nice even, peaceful arc. It just so happens that that makes her the easiest to use. Oh well. By the way, did you find the easter egg?

    I'll give it a shot.

Though the way you speak of your programming class reminds me of my Creative Writing class.

I made decent work that everyone seemed to love.

But they made shit so I seemed like God by comparison! (Even most of them would admit they made shit, but wouldn't admit that my work was anything less than great).

    Classmates can be weird...

But I'll make sure to try out your game!

    Pretty good actually.

Though I'm not a huge fan of the genre myself. (Dodging tiny objects is not something I'm too fond of)

    Not bad.

Better than the stuff that seems to get made around my era.

I want to a regional computer fair for my school. (I entered a Video that I half-assed the editing, got 2nd place though).

My friend made a game that was Star Trek-ish, though he made it Visual Basic for some odd reason.

He came in dead last since the other games were made in better Programming Formats. Though sadly the winner was literally a game about 2 players rolling a die to see who wins the round. REALLY? That won? You're kidding me?

I can see how that would upset you, that dice game seems pretty boring to me. Thanks for playing it. ALso, whats visual basic?

It takes a bit to learn the path of the projectiles but once you get the hang of those the game becomes quite enjoyable.

thanks, you have no idea how hard it was to put any semblence of balance into my characters. Im not to good at that, and this is the first game that I have made on my own.

Very solid. I've seen much worse from the game maker community. Hopefully you continue on with this as a hobby.

as a hobby? I hope so, mabey even make it into a career (not game maker, game MAKING) I put alot of work into this game. Anything you could think of that would make it more fun?

I'm going to give it a shot. Being a fellow programmer I might be able to get some diffrent perspective. Figured I'd give it a shot. So I beat it with all ponies. Good game my friend. Keep up this work.

thanks, got any advice to improve it?
  14. I would Say Phantasy Star online. Its a really fun online game that is very unheard of. You can find it on gamecube or xbox, but it is super rare. I have put so many hours into it. While the AI is really stupid, and the game can get a bit repetitive, it is still definitelly worth a play. The online is still going on. I might actually be able to give somepony the link to the online ultima server if they are interested in it.

Oh, and Blast factor for the PS3. Its a downloadable game that has super great music and sound. You basically fly this little ship around and try to destroy these little virus like thingies. It is super fun, and gets really challenging as you progress. The bosses are also really fun. I would definitely suggest gettin' it.

  15. If you want to try it out, you will have to download it from:

    https://dl.dropbox.com/u/80553723/Parasprite.zip

I promise its not a virus. I made this game as a final project for my computer game design class in high school (which I just graduated from on the 8th). On a scale of 1 to 5, one being the worst and five being the best, my game rated on average about....4.5 or so. I didnt get a single vote below three, I know that much (then again, not to sound like a total di....jerk... alot of the games my classmates made were complete garbage). I think the game is alright, but evidentally the people in my class loved the game.

Oh, and it does have ponies in it, if you were curious. And yes, I know the music is kinda iffy, but the sound was added in at the end, and by that point I was just trying to put SOMETHING in it, so i picked the first thing in my files I had. So yeah, tell me what you guys think. I would love to hear your feedback, tell me if you love it, or think that It should be dragged out into the street and shot. Either way, I would love to hear it.

Oh, and there is an easter egg in it. To activate it, you need to know who the smartest character from any anime is. Heh heh, I'm sure thats pretty obvious.

  16. Long read ahead, so brace yourselves!!

So I watched the new episodes, and saw all the Royal Guard everywhere, and it seemed to me like there were TOO MANY of them.

I did a little research on the matter, and some questions arose.

First off, the MLP wiki on Royal Guards says: "The guards... their cutie marks are obscured by their uniforms."

    Also:

The My Little Pony wiki page on Cutie Marks says that: "The My Little Pony franchise is famous for cutie marks, unique symbols located on the ponies' flank or haunch." Unique. This means different, original, not like others, etc.

This brings to mind a certain question. If cutie marks are usually different, then how are there so many Royal Guards? They surely can't all have the same cutie mark, as they are unique.

Also, since they cannot all have the same cutie mark, and their uniforms cover the area where a cutie mark is located, what if the Guards don't have cutie marks at all? Does this mean that all ponies without cutie marks must join the Royal Guard?

But, also, the same MLP wiki page on cutie marks states that: "The cutie marks are obtained when ponies discover a unique characteristic that sets themselves apart from others" so does this mean that the Guards actually DO have cutie marks? Wrong! "A unique characteristic" Guards all do the same thing, so no outlying differences there. "sets themselves apart from others" Guards, once again, all do the same thing.

This brings an altogether different question forth: How does a Royal Guard become a Royal Guard?

Are they, as I stated above, simply cutie-mark-less ponies, or is there something else in play?

Maybe the Guards aren't ponies at all, but Magical beings conjured by Celestia and Luna? Or maybe there was only one or two Royal Guards to begin with, and they were cloned to make more?

Also, since the Head Guard is Twilight's brother, does this mean that all Head Guards are actual ponies, who are controlling the other Guards? Does this mean that the Head Guard knows the secret of the actual Guards?

I'm just throwing ideas out there, and I have no idea what could be true. (Although the cloning thing might make for a good fan-fic) Please tell me if you've got a plausible solution for the matter?

    TL:DR - Royal Guards aren't real ponies.

I just figured out what TL:DR stands for. I was always to embarrised to ask about what it meant. AS for your theories I just say this: its magic you dont got to explain it.
  17. Not much to say here, but I just noticed that it was on netflix and thought that that is the most awesome thing ever. Cause, my tv is alot better than my computer, so I can watch the show on netflix. Im super excited about it.

  18. So, many gamers must have that one game that they wish more people knew of, right?

There has to be at least one game in your collection which you feel could've been more popular, that more people could have enjoyed. Hopefully I can get a few responses and check out these lost masterpieces. Or, if you want to challenge a terrible review you believe a game has gotten, I'd like to hear.

Anyway, for me, the lost game series would have to be Timesplitters. Timesplitters 2 mainly. Apparently these games only exist for me and about three others. It was my first ever FPS which had brilliant gun-play, customisation and humor. The story was very gripping, and there's nothing sweeter than making it out of an exploding space station with literally a second to spare. Saying that, it did get positive reviews, so maybe there are more people with it out there.

I'm interested in hearing your tales of nostalgia too, thanks!

Iloved time splitters, I played that game sooooo manytimes it was rediculous.

  19. I like the game skies of Arcadia legends, because it has both random, and visible encounters. With ship battles, you will see the enemy ship in the distance, and if they see you, they will start to fly and chase after you. You could run away if you do so quickly, but if you want to fight them, you run into them. Also, they have random encounters for the dungions and for when you are just flying around. In the beggining of the game, they are really fun, but as you get stronger, the enemies in a cetain area will start to get boring because they are too easy. But once you move to a new area, it gets challenging again. But the little battle starting animation nearly gives me a heartattack everytime it happens.
