  1. CCG = collectible card game, like Magic or Pokemon or Yugioh. Playing online I mean like the players using the video chat service to see each other while playing, a virtual way to sit at opposite ends of the same table. I used to do a similar thing when I played magic forever ago.
  2. So as many of you know (and are probably greatly excited about - I know I am), about a month from now the MLP CCG game will be released. I was thinking, many users here at mlpforums will likely have a hard time finding anypony to play with in real life. Because of this, I thought I would try to gauge interest in organizing some kind of play-online league utilizing a free online video call service such as Skype or Google Hangouts. This is of course just the very earliest planning phase, and it very possibly may never happen at all if nopony is really interested., but my thoughts are that organized league play and for-fun pickup games would be a great project. There would definitely be some wrinkles to iron out (potential privacy issues with this sort of face-to-face interaction for example), but I think it would be a lot of fun and rewarding for all involved. So what does everypony think about it?
  3. Placing my order now, I can't wait :3 Got the two theme decks, the starter pack, and a booster box. Now we play the waiting game! I see a Skype League in mlpforums' future In fact, that sounds like a good idea. Gonna make a post on that now.
  4. Spike is quite a bit younger than the other ponies (they were all around Apple Bloom's age when he was hatched), so there's nothing really weird about it. Even in RL, it's common and normal for a younger kid to have a bad crush on an older person, even though the older one might not return the sentiments in the same way. Rarity treats spike more like a little brother she loves or even as a very young best friend, which is pretty much exactly how it happens in real life too. As for the interspecies thing, I don't think Equestria has problems like that. Everypony is tolerant and loving, and it's a much more innocent world.
  5. I'm kinda an infosec geek. I recently passed my CISSP exam which I'm super proud of right now, just waiting for my endorsement to be processed :3 Any other information security people around?
  6. Just sent you a friend request on the hazegray61 one
  7. Really hard to say. The Grand Galloping Gala song (I don't know its actual name) always stuck out to me though.
  8. I'm military and currently work in civil emergency response and disaster relief. That's kinda sorta public safety.
  9. I'm a big PS3 fan, but I don't game nearly as much as I used to. You can add me on PSN if you want. My id is steampunk-matt edit: That goes for anyone on this site who wants to. Just if you add me please send a message first because I delete random adds from people I don't know.
  10. Reckless or not, she was still an extraordinary flyer. And as someone pointed out earlier, everypony makes mistakes. I feel bad for her, but I don't think that was the end for her. I think she'll get another chance. Rainbow Dash might even talk to the Wonderbolts on her behalf to get her back in on a probationary basis. She isn't so hard-headed that she can't learn and grow from her earlier behavior.
  11. When a new main character is added to a series, it's because the writers and/or the fans think the current cast is getting too run down and stale. It's almost always a sign of the beginning of the end. Personally I can't imagine a seventh mane pony that would feel like she belongs. The existing six all have distinct personalities that work so well together that any new pony would never really fit in.
  12. I don't exactly brag about it, but if someone brings up ponies I won't be shy about joining the conversation. A few weeks ago I was at work and a higher boss in the office (senior VIP type boss without going into heavy details) happened to be talking about how he'd just recently found about bronies from his nephew. He asked me if I'd heard of it, and I'm just cautiously like "Yeah...". Next question is, "Are you a bronie?" Without wanting to lie or have that bit of my life come out at work (I like to keep a low profile), I just kinda sidestepped it with "I know a few bronies". Every time I think about that little exchange I wonder if it was coincidence or if he knew more than he let on. So I guess I'm not as open about it as I'd like to be. I don't like drawing attention to myself when I can help it. Offline, at least :3
  13. The answer desk manager position sounds like a ton of fun. Emailing for that now.
  14. He's still sort of under construction and is a first effort, but here's my OC, Silver Sky. Use him as you like: http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/silver-sky-r5013
  15. I've looked for active MLP IRC channels on several networks but I've yet to find one that had more than one or two random people in it, and they aren't there long. There are plenty of networks I haven't looked in of course so maybe I'm just overlooking them. Is anyone aware of an active IRC channel for friendly MLP chat? And if not, would anyone be interested in starting one with me? (I have the network and channel staked out already just in case)
  16. I think RD would never in a million years ask anyone for help with being cool
  17. I can totally see an episode showing where Twilight lets her new power as a princess go to head, and the other ponies have to bring her down a few notches. She can't just go on like she did before and ignore the fact that she's a princess, but after an event like that (or something along those lines), Celestia might decide it's best if she just goes back home to be the Mare of Ponyville or something. If that happens, we're pretty much back where we were before she became an alicorn, but with a good excuse and a good hook for future plot lines.
  18. My lunchbox <3 Found it at a candy store a few blocks from my apartment.
  19. When I noticed this I did a quick google search and it didn't seem like was anything out there about it (from ten seconds of looking anyway), so I thought I'd see if any of you all had any thoughts on this. Sorry if it's been done to death in the past, but I haven't heard of it before. So I was just watching Lesson Zero (season 2, episode 3) and something caught my eye that I must have missed before now. After Celestia breaks Twilight's love spell and everyone abandons the doll, we see Big Mcintosh pick up the doll and gallop away. It made me wonder if this is a reference to brony fandom. He's probably the show's most visible male pony, usually portrayed as strong, quiet, and reserved, and falling in love with a girl's doll is a pretty unexpected thing coming from him. It seems to me like it parallels what MLP had become by that point in the series. Or am I insane?
  20. Or Trixie makes them the Mane Seven I love her as an antagonist but typing that gave me a chill.
  21. I did think the transformation was a little sudden. It could probably be reversed if it turns out to be really unpopular (Twilight saves Equestria by giving up her wings, etc), but my personal thought is that they're trying to draw Twilight even closer to Celestia and Luna. It didn't really explain why Celestia put her on the trail to becoming an alicorn in the first place, so maybe the writers have plans for some story arc that will explore her motivation more deeply. I'm reserving judgement for now.
  22. The Cutie Mark Crusaders get their cutie marks! Or am I the only one who is horrified that this episode will happen some day?
  23. I can see Gilda coming back to "prove" to Rainbow Dash and the others that she's cooler than they are. She was pretty surprised that Rainbow Dash had been responsible for the pranks that initially led to her leaving Ponyville, and though she sort of told her off, I think she still misses her and doesn't understand how much she must have changed since they were young together. So Gilda might come back and try to alienate the other ponies from Rainbow Dash in an effort to make her want to be friends like they used to be. I think it would be too much of a character shift to totally reshape her attitude in one more episode, but she might come to see that Rainbow Dash has grown up a little (I think it's perfectly possible that she was just like Gilda when they were young and she didn't know any better), and it might lead her to look more closely at herself.
