  1. I'm a regular Dungeon/Game Master every other Saturday for Pathfinder.  While I may not enjoy parties with a larger group, which is well over 12 people, small gathering parties much like Pinkie Pie throws for her "Elements of Harmony" friends I might find quite enjoyable.

I would bring my own drinks still.

  2. Surprisingly not cold when it's been really cold the other days.

Yeah, yesterday we had a high of 15 degrees in Boise, ID.  Needless to say I hid inside.

At it's supposed to only go up for the rest of the week.

  3. Also the concept of the an "open door" can be heavily abused by friends.  Living on a ground story apartment where I would keep the back porch door unlocked usually invited my friends to just walk on in.  I imagine Fluttershy has the same problem more often than the rest of the mane six.  It also appears that many ponies don't have a problem with making their homes a place open to the public as Twilight lives in Ponyville's library and Rarity lives at Carousel Boutique.

Still, you can make Fluttershy bashful by catching her in bed, so there must be a sense of privacy to be violated.  Could be the concept has become antiquated over time, which would explain why Rarity didn't want Spike to enter while they were dressing and preparing for the Gala, while the others seemed fairly relaxed about it.  A way proper ponies did things before that has become almost laughable by current day standards.

  4. For me it would be an open book with a phoenix quill.  Yeah, a book and writing implement has been done repeatedly, but it just seems to represent how I view my talent.  While I'm an artist I picture myself as more of a storyteller, so I draw and write to tell these stories.  The phoenix quill represents the magic I feel is inherent in telling a story.  So yeah...

Oh?  An excuse to show a picture of my OC with his Cutie Mark you say?

  5. I didn't say dumb.  I said lab atomized.

as in i'm implying his ability to express himself, like he did in apple buck season has been taken from him.

yes i've read the issue about him in the comic,

I think he could had some sage advice for the rest of the cast,

maybe being the every pony big brother role.

but oh God that might over shadow someone... full frontral labatomy time.

I would like to hear more from him.  Haven't heard much of his actual character except in Applebuck Season and Ponyville Confidential (Hearts and Hooves Day doesn't count, he was magically lobotomized there).

  6. I wouldn't worry too much for them at the moment.  While they are clearly the Bulk and Skull of My Little Pony, even that duo progressed over the span of the show, and even had a really cool moment helping the Power Rangers when it mattered most (Power Rangers in Space finale).  While Snips and Snails may be obnoxious now who knows what they will eventually become?

  7. I'd walk to the store and buy one.

    ...What? It's an honest answer.

That would involve going outside... 13 degrees out there right now...  I would give up on a Klondike bar to avoid going outside.

  8. The nature of this episode can't help but create a very polarized reaction from the fan base.  A lot of people saw Daring Do as the relatable character for Rainbow Dash and seeing a denizen of a fantasy world have their own type of fiction, albeit "inspired" by Indiana Jones, is a level of world building unto itself.  To tell the truth what constitutes as a fantasy genre in a fantasy world has always intrigued me.

And now we learned that Daring Do is real.  Her books are non-fiction and we have attempt to interpret everything that means.  What we know about Equestrian fiction has kind of been thrown into the fireplace in favor of a hero who uses her adventures as a way to... well, not really sure why she does it.  Doesn't immediately matter.  This element did sacrifice an aspect of world building for another and so I have to ask myself was it worth it?

And I can't really answer that at the moment.  Aside from the random team up with Daring Do and the main six, mostly Rainbow Dash, I have no idea how this truly interacts and exists alongside the already established world.  Yeah this is illustrated to be a rather insular setting, the problems always being referred to affect only "the valley" instead of Equestria.  Only Rainbow Dash and to some degree Twilight Sparkle seem to blow these issue into world-wide issues.  Worse we kind of begin the history of this setting in media res so we don't have a true beginning to it or the reasons behind anything.  We know nothing about Ahuizotl, why he want's to conquer/curse the valley, why those cats follow him, who those temple ponies are, we don't even know why protecting the valley is important, in short all the aspects that would make this cohesive.  It's an element that just raises further questions which is why there have been a lot of comments declaring this episode to be a giant plot hole.

Yeah, I like this episode for the main six, especially seeing Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle as actual friends with relatable conversations.  Still though, I can't help but be confused by the myriad questions this episode left us with.  At the moment I kind of prefer Daring Do as a fictional character.

That might change depend on how those questions are answered though.

  9. Well, as Errant Scribbler I would have to be with the unicorns, though I would much prefer to hide out in the Everfree Forest until this whole war thing passes by.  Errant Scribbler's home could be a haven for those wanting to stay out of the war.

Though I need other unicorns with protection magic... hmm...

  10. An aspect I like about the concept was how it let us know that there are other great conflicts occurring outside the influence of our usual cast of characters.  It actually has me wondering what exactly this valley that Daring Do seems to protect is actually about.

Would probably help if we actually had some Daring Do books to reference (other than the included continuity argument within the episode in question).
