  1. Exactly. Online courses are usually not great learning environments. That's what usually happens when there's no real way to take control of a classroom or work with the students since its all online. Put it this way: I remember joining a class (which they didn't seem to take much note of. People skipped "class" all the time with little to no repercussions), and students were in there typing, asking each other what their PSN/Xbox Live gamertags were while the teacher was discussing the lesson. That's how out of sync everything from the classes to the work structure was. It was a mess. Definitely not the type of environment that encourages constructive discussion and learning, in my opinion.
  2. I did online schooling during high school due to my social anxiety preventing me from attending normal school. And I must say, it was a horrible experience. Unless you have a parent or guardian closely monitoring your progress, you're most likely going to slack off or fall behind because the way its structured (at least in the online school I went to) is awful. Sitting at home with countless distractions makes it easy to lose motivation to do school work, and once you fall behind, the pressure to climb back up is tough to handle. I've heard of lots of stories of people dropping out due to poor grades doing online school, myself included (eventually dropped out, ended up getting my GED last year). The teacher element is missing with cyber schooling. Sure you can talk to them through a microphone (on rare occasions, because most "classes" are just teachers talking about your lesson for the day rather than actual teacher-and-student discussion), but it just isn't the same as actually being there in person for your teacher to assist you. I would only recommend cyber schooling if you're having serious issues in a brick and mortar school. Use it as a last resort.
  3. Drawing. There are very few things that get me excited when considering what I'd like to do with my life. Expressing ideas and concepts through drawing is one of those things
  4. Another one that contends for the top spot that I thought of: Games Ponies Play. After seemingly an entire day's worth of showing the "Game's Inspector" around, the gang realizes that the entire time, they were leading the wrong pony around, and that the real Game's Inspector was left behind... Okay. No. I'm sorry, but the Mane 6 isn't this clueless and careless, especially when the matter is as important as they make it out to be. I find it hard to believe they wouldn't ask who Mrs. Peachbottom was a single time during their entire tour. Then, during the same scene in which they realize their bizarre mixup, they're rewarded for messing up!
  5. Pick any moment in "Owl's Well That Ends Well". In said episode, The Mane 6 treat Spike like a stranger. Rarity gives Owlicious a gem after just meeting him, similar to the one she gave Spike for being special to her. Twilight has Owlicious do Spike's chores, making Spike feel useless. Twilight then says that Owlicious is only around to help during the night!... Except for the fact that most of the episode takes place during the day. The Mane 6 pass off Spike's legitimate reasons for being upset and sad as a "fit of jealousy". ... What? No! This is ridiculous. Owl's Well does the Mane 6 an injustice - opting to completely destroy their characterization, especially Twilight. Rarity should know how much that gem meant to Spike. Twilight should know that Spike's concerns are genuine. Even Fluttershy of all ponies, would understand why Spike got upset. Owl's Well dumbs down the characters to some of their lowest points, and the episode suffers in quality because of it.
  6. Owl's Well That Ends Well - My least favorite FiM episode. The blatantly OOC Mane 6 (especially Twilight) uncharacteristically treat Spike like dirt, and treat his sadness as a fit of "jealousy". I hate the characterization. I hate the conflict. Pretty much everything about Owl's Well is a dud. Rarity Investigates - This may raise some eyebrows, but I remember being very underwhelmed by this episode. It's not necessarily a poorly constructed episode or anything, it's just that the black & white, old school investigative sylistic approach just wasn't my kinda thing. It wasn't fun to watch. I couldn't get into the conflict, and I disliked the overall aesthetic. Three's a Crowd - This episode drags on and on, and never really pays off in any sort of meaningful way. The opening train scene lasts nearly half the episode and kills the mood of the episode from the get-go. Pinkie Pie getting wisped away from the episode by a balloon? That's just lazy writing. The Hooffield and McColts - I don't really have much to say about this other than it's a really bad episode. I didn't care for the characters. Didn't care for the scenery. Didn't care for the rehashed conflict. Appleloosa's Most Wanted - Similar to Hooffield and McColts, I don't have much to say about this one. This episode's poor attempts at humor fall distinctly flat. 28 Pranks Later - Super predictable story which rehashes Mysterious Mare Do Well, but in a much worse way. It's hard to sit through Dishonorable mentions: Flutter Brutter - This would be on the list for sure if it wasn't for Fluttershy's great characterization, the episode's only redeeming factor. And Newbie Dash - A massive letdown and perhaps the most disappointing FiM episode ever considering its potential. The only slightly redeemable factor is getting to see the gorgeous world design that the Wonderbolt's live in.
  7. Spike at Your Service & Just For Sidekicks are some of the show's best episodes I've never liked Trixie, and consider her one of the show's worst characters I very rarely consider Pinkie Pie "out of character", even in some of her worst episodes (i.e, Filli Vanilli) Magical Mystery Cure was the best paced episode of FiM Three's a Crowd & Rarity Investigates are among some of the worst FiM episodes I prefer AJ's Season 1 voice I wish EQG 1's electronic theme would replace FiM's theme
  8. Yup. I specifically remember one of my least favorite episodes, Three's a Crowd, having a mercilessly long opening scene where they used excessive exposition to setup the episode. The episode spent the first 10 minutes of its 22 minutes in the same location (train station) setting up the plot and spilling a lot of unnecessary dialogue. It's one of FiM's weaker aspects. The best episodes use (relevant) exposition to naturally lead into a relevant plot point, rather than tell the story itself
  9. I've thought of this too, however, it's hard to say until we know how many theaters the movie will premiere in. I think some people are expecting it to be bigger than its realistically going to be. This isn't going to be a Frozen-like movie where everyone's raving about it. It'll be huge among the fandom and the younger fanbase, but it won't bring in too many outsiders who aren't already familiar with the product/franchise. I presume Hasbro is well aware of this, and will plan accordingly. The Hey Arnold & Powerpuff Girls movie performances are more realistic comparisons to how the FiM film will perform, but even then, don't be surprised to see it make less than that. FiM has a large, diverse fandom, but its brand awareness suffers from being on Discovery Family. It all depends on how enthusiastic the base fanbase is at the time of release. As of now, I don't think it'll be a blockbuster, and will likely succeed with the target demographic, at least moderately.
  10. Choose not a life of imitation Distant cousin to the reservation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4INE2zO9OU
  11. The first piece of brony merchandise I've ever purchased was a toboggan (beanie). At first I liked it, but over time, I've grown to dislike it. I don't wear it anymore. The huge "BRONY" word on the front seems too tacky and unnecessary. If it just had the Rainbow Dash emblem on it without the words, I'd wear it more often.
  12. Yeah, I agree that Set Sail is their strongest work. Did You Know is great as well. Their other project, Water & Bodies is pretty good. I especially like their "Light Year" album. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3M7Lia0DajI
  13. Oh yes! Set Sail is my favorite album of all time. You made a post in this thread over a year ago linking the album; I saw the post and I listened to the album for the first time and loved it. I enjoyed it enough to purchase the CD . My favorite tracks off the album would be Silk Road, Via Rail, Clouds, and Campfire, though I love every single track. What are your thoughts on their earlier and most recent album? And have you heard their other band, Water & Bodies?
  14. Just want to say, this is easily my favorite thread on the forums. I've been introduced to lots of amazing tracks & bands I had never heard of before thanks to this thread. Anyway, here's a rare Kaddisfly track that I really enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_C-lXUJUB7M
  15. Why didn't they correct Rarity when she said she thought alicorn wings had to be earned? I feel like that scene would have been written entirely differently if they intended to imply that Celestia & Luna were born as alicorns. Imo, either the writers intended to imply otherwise, or purposely kept it vague. If they intended to keep with the previously accepted canon of Celestia & Luna being naturally born alicorns, why word it that way? I chalk it up to bad writing or the writers trying to change the previously accepted canon. Furthermore, considering AKR's tweets & the previous canon, I do think -Octavia- has a good point that it isn't confirmed either way, so it's still up to speculation until we receive more conclusive information from the show or staff. Additionally, the theory that alicorns have a drastically longer-than-average lifespan is still up in the air until we know more of Celestia & Luna's origin, but I still lean towards it being true
