  1. Obama has earned a lot of my respect in recent years. He's gone through great strides to improve this country's standing, and to help the everyday American succeed. He was the first president to visit Hiroshima since the WWII attacks. His speech was groundbreaking and inspiring, The economy has grown with Obama in office, helping us recover from the hole the disastrous Bush presidency left us in. Focus on climate change has improved. Marijuana legalization has begun to take shape in several states. LGBT rights have improved significantly including gays obtaining the right to marry. Obama is pushing for common sense gun laws to try and reduce the gun violence epidemic in America. Unfortunately, he hasn't been good for certain liberties such as privacy concerns (NSA, transparency, etc), and the national debt is expanding, which I hope the next president doesn't just ignore. But overall, Obama has been a respectable president, who's shown compassion and dignity throughout his two terms.
  2. I personally think it would have been bland to keep the movie's lore identical to the established lore and not stray off the path at some point. I wouldn't call it a "butchering", rather, a re-imagining. They tried to give some backstory, but didn't fully succeed. I feel like they should have spent a little more time building upon the world, apart from the characters. However, over-doing it with backstory leaves the filmmakers with a problem: People usually don't care for "origin stories", they just want to get into the world and its characters. If they spent too much time explaining the characters and their origins, this risks alienating those who already know the world's lore. If you don't explain enough, you risk alienating the new audience. They attempted to strike a middle ground. As a WoW player since 2005, I loved the characters and their portrayals, especially Lothar. So I'm a biased when it comes to caring for the characters. But my brother who watched it with me enjoyed the film as well, and he knew next to nothing about the lore. It wasn't executed perfectly, sure, but I feel they did give decent reasoning to feel sympathy for the characters. They explained the individual plights of the Orcs and Humans, and gave us interesting and diverse characters to ponder over. It is true that they didn't really explain where all the Fel Magic came from, and why it has all that raw power. I would have liked more insight into Azeroth itself, but overall I enjoyed the film for what it was. It has potential for a few sequels.
  3. Anyone seen the Warcraft movie? I watched it the other day, and it was pretty epic. Definitely worth watching if you're a fan of Warcraft in any capacity. I feel like the negative critical response has been a tad overblown
  4. Whenever it gets to the point to where it bothers me, I tend to clean everything up at once. I usually do this every few weeks once dust and debris accumulate. I shuffle things around my room often.
  5. What are your thoughts on the new Friends Forever comic? Personally, I loved it! Some notes: Buried Treasure is a truly greedy, spiteful character. "Again we see there is nothing you possess which I cannot take away" I like how the diary ends midway through the comic, I expected the diary to cover their entire adventure. It was surprisingly enjoyable the way they handled it I love how they explained Maud's emotions, and the way she expresses them through her diary. Its relatable and gives someone like Rarity a solid understanding of what its like to think like Maud. Some people are able to express themselves more comfortably verbally; others prefer to write down their feelings The cave wasn't particularly interesting as a setting as it lacks some features, but overall, the art style was clean and good on the eyes Couldn't Buried Treasure simply have at least attempted to lie about discovering the cave first to take credit? Though, I suppose the counter thought is that it isn't about recognition, its just about besting Maud. Why does she have such a grudge against Maud? That pilot pony is awesome
  6. I remember seeing a post in a thread on these forums in which a user described their idea of God. They described God as "the footprints in the sand", if you will. You can't see Him, but you can feel that somehow someway, His Presence is there. To me, that's a beautiful way to put it. That really resonates with me, and it got me thinking further. "God" is the Force that you can feel in the wind, the soul that guides Mother Nature's swift call, your conscious effort to strive towards greatness, love, and peace. The voice of reason, the winds of change, the hope you suddenly feel after or during a bout of severe desperation, depression, and pain. God is always there, like footprints in the sand, and a whisper in the wind, following you and everything else along life's endless road This is my religion - that God is the embodiment and driving force of inherent Good, and that our differences can ultimately bring us closer together as people. I don't know if there is an afterlife, or if there is what will happen. Whether He sent down books, or prophets, or any of that jazz, I don't know, nor do I think humanity will ever know for sure. I simply believe there is something out there playing the cards, something greater than us that laid the foundation for this vast universe's blueprints.
  7. What are some songs that you never grow tired of, ones that you could play on repeat and still enjoy them the same? For me, "Far Behind" by Candlebox never gets old.

  9. A fire needs a space to burn, a breath to build a glow I've heard it said a thousand times, but now I know That you don't know what you've got, until it's gone Words to live by...
  10. Some notes about the episode: After Zephyr was told to leave his parents house, there should have been a scene a few weeks later showing Fluttershy & RD walking into town and seeing Zephyr living on the street. If he was now homeless and had finally hit rock bottom, it would have given us some sympathy or thoughtfullness for Zephyr. Then he could try and adjust to society and a new job, instead of him just forcing his way into Fluttershy's house like an asshole. How are we supposed to feel sympathy for Zephyr when he treats everyone like garbage, only using them for his own benefit? Additionally, I'd have given him a stronger and more apparent motive behind being lazy, avoiding jobs, etc. Explain that he has a form of social anxiety that causes him to crumble under pressure from others Fluttershy & RD's point about "you have to try", and Zephyr replying that its better to not try at all, doesn't make sense because we've seen that Zephyr has tried various pursuits and failed over and over again. The song was really nice. Amazing voices. It's a great tune. Overall, it was a fairly entertaining episode, but it missed the mark it was trying to hit. Could have been executed so much better
  11. I have a Spike & Fluttershy plushie, but I don't sleep with them. I do keep them on my bed though, on the other side (I sleep on a pretty big bed on the very left side)
  12. Eh, I think their designs are kind of weird. Doesn't really remind me of Fluttershy at all
  13. You make a lot of good points. > The Cutie Mark Crusaders first met at Diamond Tiara Party...Or Did They? - It does seem like a continuity error, though I suppose the counter-argument would be what SolarFox said; that they had met before but never introduced each other. Like you said though, "Call of the Cutie" does seem to imply that they had never met before. > Is Princess Celestia becoming forgetful in her wise age? - It was stated in the Journal of Two Sisters that Celestia & Luna were born alicorns, so the show claiming that they weren't is indeed a contradiction. However, an argument could be made that the show's version of events is canon over the Journal, therefor retconning the Journal's version of events. > Where is Sunset Shimmer? - Good question, I have no idea. I feel like the writers should have addressed her "human world" counterpart. > Where is the Episode for Cadance "Coming of Age"? I have always wondered this too, and its one of the reasons I've never been a big fan of Cadance's character. She was sorta just rushed into the picture for the sake of having a wedding episode. How did she become an alicorn? How did Celestia & Luna become alicorns for that matter? > Was Pinkie Pie Adopted? I can see why it would appear that Pinkie Pie was adopted. While no FiM media has made this claim, it isn't impossible. She's drastically different in essentially every aspect from the rest of her apparent family. Hmm, I wonder if there's any fan fiction which covers that idea?
