  1. I don't, but as others have said, it's quite common for people to develop something at some point in their lives.

While misdiagnosis exists, I honestly don't think that most self-diagnose deliberately for attention. Rather, I suspect that most do it to give themselves an explanation for whatever they're going through. Just because you're not clinically ill doesn't mean you can't benefit from talking to a professional about your problems.

  2. Make Starlight the new protagonist and have it based around her.

Wouldn't necessarily disagree with this happening eventually, but you'd have to put up one hell of a fight against parts of the fandom xD.

Serious answer: I'm surprised nobody has said this yet, but I'dd add eight additional minutes to the runtime (so from 22 minutes to a full half-hour). A lot of stories end up feeling rushed, and that has the potential to improve the show immensely.

  3. To add to what's already been said, polygamy is so rare that it's unlikely to leap to most peoples' minds when they think of relationships. So, beyond the fact that polygamy is frowned upon, most people just wouldn't think to do it in the first place.

  4. To be honest, it's usually a matter of context. A pun can be funny in the right circumstances, but it can often seem very silly in an otherwise serious situation.

Or to put it another way... a dad joke is only a dad joke when it becomes apparent.

    (I'm sorry)

  5. Not something I'd do personally, but if it makes you happy, so be it. I mean, there are certainly weirder things in the fandom. The first discussion I ever had on here was with someone who sincerely wanted to found a Brony nation-state.

  6. Disclaimer: I missed some of the ep due to buffering issues, so I might've missed what everyone is raving about.

I really liked the ideas behind this one, but the way it was written came off as forced to me. A huge chunk of the dialogue felt like it was not-very-subtely dumping exposition or explaining how we're supposed to be reacting.

Still, Thorax was adorable and I liked the resolution of Changelings feeding from each others' love.

  7. Interesting that I'm not the only one with this sort of opinion. Anyway:

    S1: 6/10
    S2: 6.5/10
    S3: 7/10
    S4: 6/10
    S5: 7.5/10
    S6: 7/10 (so far)

By itself, the show never did much for me in its early seasons. Back then, the fandom picked up a lot of slack for the show with fanart and music. Now that I prefer the stories they're telling with the map and a maturer mane cast, I find that the show picks up slack for the fandom.

  8. I really like the idea of this, but I think the problem lies in MLP FIM's target audience. Really young girls (and for that matter, young kids in general these days) are more likely to game on parents' tablets and smartphones than dedicated consoles. Therefore, it kinda makes sense that we have the MLP apps, but no dedicated console release.

If they ever decided to do one however, the suggestion for a simple 2D platformer sounds like a really good one. It has the potential to work really well across MLP's different audiences while also staying true to the tone of the show.

  9. I have something of a love-hate relationship with these places. On one hand, I totally get why these things are cringey and can find them pretty funny sometimes. However, the most I do is chuckle and perhaps think the person needs to grow up a bit. I certainly don't find it funny if they're is mentally ill or if the material was taken from a private space. My problem with a lot of cringe communities is that they go way overboard and abuse the 'internet is a wild west' mentality as a cover for behaviour which would be completely unacceptable in any other context.

  10. Well, there are two of them. While I wasn't offended by the first one, I didn't find it that funny - mainly because it went with a 'general neckbeard' stereotype rather than mocking specific things in the fandom. Makes it seem kinda lazy. The second one however... is bloody hilarious and absolutely spot on. Although the things they say don't apply to everyone, I'd be very hard pushed to say I haven't seen examples of every point they raise. Not to mention the idea of 'My Little Brony' toys and the Mother's Basement Playset.

  11. Well as for Music let me tell you while it is a bit smaller than it used to be, the reality I discovered is that people just don't LOOK for the newer people, but stay fixated on the older music people and as their content slows and stops they feel like things have declined much more than they have. Fic wise there is a bit less content but still tons, same for Fan art (though that decline actually started before all of the others basically right after the end of S3)

As for me, Hey iv been around since october 2010, since the original /co/ threads. And I do but that's mostly because the particular Community I was a part of (Synchtube) died with the site in early 2013, Iv found places since then but nothing has been as perfect as my time on channels like Filly and Yaridovich. I however DON'T miss things like having to deal with ridiculous double standards targeted at some of my favorite characters, I don't miss a single bit of the Drama in 2013, which honestly  largely drove me away from the fandom for years, I was still around but it wasn't till 2015 that I really reingaged. Really while there's a sense of bitter longing among some of the long term fans i feel the fandom is a lot more peaceful now that it was in 2012 and ESPECIALLY 2013. So yeah I miss some things but not others.

My advice is really just don't get bitter, we were never going to be the GEEK FAD forever, nothing is. Though im sure all the drama around S3 did nothing to help keep us on top! Doesn't change that we are still one of the largest fandoms online, with a number of active forums and a massive creative output. Just go with the flow. In sheer numbers we are still huge, but since we really only get enough new people to stay stable we don't have a creative drive quite as BURNING anymore. Iv noticed pretty consistently that the fans in just about any fandom who produce the most in a short period of time are usually the new ones burning with NEW THING enthusiasm. And they they level out as time goes on.

Yeah, you're probably right about all of this - especially what you said about the music community. Thanks for giving me a well-needed kick up the arse :).

  12. In a way, I do. I joined the fandom around late 2013, so while I missed the worst of the fandom drama, I was there at what might be called the height of the fandom's social and creative output. What really drew me to this community was the sense of togetherness which came from all that. Over time, the content creation died down a lot and a lot of people I knew disappeared without leaving any contact details.

Probably the two hardest hit areas for me were the analysis and music communities. While the analysis community still exists, it really isn't what it used to be. When it first started, it was a place for people to explain their wacky headcannon theories. Nowadays (with the exception of The Brony Notion, which still does headcannons), it's basically just a 'reviewing' community which gets pretty toxic at times. As for the music - again, it still exists, but a lot of big names have either left the fandom or don't produce stuff anymore.

It's entirely possible that I'm just clinging to the past, though. Based on the number of posts in episode threads here, it certainly doesn't seem like overall interest in the show is dying down. Either people are producing less content or I just haven't found most of the new stuff.

  13. As one of the greatest minds in history posed: Tubby or not tubby? Fat is the question.

... okay, maybe that wasn't what Shakespeare had in mind. To provide a more serious answer though, I can't see Celestia being that much heavier than, say, Big Mac. We know from one of the micro comics (I think it's Luna's) that Celestia is kept on a very strict dieting routine and that she isn't really supposed to have cake. On top of that, she can fly and looks pretty slender.

    • It might just be me, but the fandom doesn't seem to be growing as quickly as it was
    • Certain episodes in season 5 have A LOT of fanservice (not in a bad way, though)
    • A really good Lullaby for a Princess animation

That's pretty much it, really. Strangely enough, the fandom has gone for quite a while without a major drama.
