  1. http://i.imgur.com/v7gbp.jpg There we go. Sunday best.
  2. Atheist, former Christian. As for why, I don't really like stepping on people's toes about it. Did that for awhile, "Feeling Pinkie Keen" showed me how pointless that conflict was. I just have seen nothing in my life that indicates any kind of supernatural being as described by major religions exists or, at the very least, is involved in our present-day reality at all. I am willing to hear people out on their stories as to why they believe there is, but I reserve the right to politely ask questions.
  3. I've been thinking something resembling Animal Crossing but substituting Ponyville and the surrounding regions for your town and ponies for everything would be amazing. They already have a bunch of alternate names for normal holidays, so that element of it would fit in as well. Harvesting apples, buying clothing, visiting Cloudsdale (much like visiting Down Town in the Wii version), baking cakes, helping with Winter-Wrap-Up once every year, caring for animals, etc. It just all seems to fit within that framework quite nicely.
  4. Title pretty much says it but yeah, anypony else going to be at Coachella? I'll be there weekend one, wearing some manner of pony t-shirt in all likelihood. Say "Hi!" or "Hello!" if you'd like a brief conversation with a complete stranger.
  5. I find Hot Diggety Demon's series harmless enough, though I guess it would be pretty alarming to the target demographic. Dude has flash skills though, got to give him that. And he is a friend of Mega64 so...yeah. That 2001 allusion in APPLE.MOV kind of won me over, I really found SHED upsetting, but only in that "Happy Tree Friends" way, which is easily dismissable as juvenile. Same with "Cupcakes". Just silly parody, people's anger and aggression clashing with pure optimism and good cheer. Fascinating in a way.
  6. Sigh, okay. I believe the MLP fandom encompasses everything worthwhile about Christianity and wisely sidesteps the extremely outdated and narrow minded tendencies of the Bible's numerous authors, but hey, if you're feeling self-conscious about your love of the show and community, it is your right to walk away from it. Just know that self-loathing is never a good thing and I don't believe Jesus Christ ever preached that it was. If you love ponies more than spending time in a building with old people singing or reading and re-reading a two thousand year old book with a highly specific context in mind (that being the Mediterranean region before the light of education had reached much of the world via the advent of science and critical thinking) that is just the way it is. Embrace it rather than run from it out of some misplaced sense of obligation. Actually, if you have some religious leaders in your life (pastor, priest, teacher, etc.), I'd encourage you to tell them about the lessons in the show and what you've discovered through it. Maybe, just maybe, you found something better and they've been bluffing for some time now. And sorry if this sounds hyper-cynical, my thoughts on religion often come across that way as I was more or less brainwashed by years in a private Christian school that subtly taught me I was nothing special at all and should really worry about how I'm impacting the kingdom of God before my own interests to the point where I was overweight, depressed and going nowhere. So religion CAN be great, it just can go extremely wrong as well and I fear the path you are debating may lead to where I was for too many years of my life. But hey, bro-hoof, thanks for being part of this community and I'm glad you've permitted yourself to express your feelings creatively through writing, that is undoubtedly a great thing.
  7. Mountains have roots?
  8. Poor Nurse Redheart. Guess she is TOO background.
  9. Oh man, this is rough as you have to exclude one of the Mane 6 no matter what and you got to select your supporting characters really carefully. Uhh, tentative list based on solely how I feel right now in this very moment (my favorite pony changes every few hours it seems), I'd go with... 1) Fluttershy 2) Pinkie Pie 3) Twilight Sparkle 4) Rainbow Dash 5) Luna But dude...this is so subjective to change. Even now I'm not happy with it.
  10. Hmm, I think I'd spend my time much like Twilight Sparkle does, just enthusiastically studying the local culture and spending every day engaging with the community either intellectually or personally. For example, I liked her attitude towards the "Winter Wrap-Up" and how she genuinely wanted to see other ways of doing things that run contrary to her cultural leanings as a unicorn. I also like that she showed up in "Hurricane Fluttershy" to help out with calculating wind power. A student in residence with a huge scholarship and time to volunteer and interact with as many people as possible, that's how I'd like to spend my time in Equestria. You get to sample everything, from Sweet Apple Acres to the high society of Canterlot, without getting too narrowly focused on any one region or profession.
  11. I'm thinking this question could be looked at in two different ways. I tend to look at her hair as a bit of a mood ring, so her hair being straight also means she is really depressed, which is sad, not "cute" exactly. However, when that is the case she becomes endearing in a different sense, she needs a friend more than ever in that case so she IS "cute"...you get what I mean? I don't know, tripping over my thoughts here. Generally, I prefer a cheerful Pinkie to a sad Pinkie and the hair seems to be tied to that. Her color dims, she loses her lust for life. So I'd rather spend time with poofy hair Pinkie but straight hair Pinkie needs attention all the more. You know what? Perfect analogy for depression and yet another reason why I love this show. Thanks OP!
  12. I really liked Applejack's reason for wanting to go, in order to save up money for her family, fixing barns, replacing hips etc., so she'd be my first choice if given the option with no further information on the gala. However, knowing how the Grand Galloping Gala actually turned out in that regard, I'd probably take Pinkie and try to help her initiative to liven up the party with bumping tunes and dancing. Show them high society ponies what a Ponyville party is all about.
  13. Seems everyone has forgotten the beginning of "Party of One" (incidentally my favorite episode), in which Pinkie IS partied out after performing singing telegrams for all of her friends. She decides she needs to tone that down a bit and just hand out written invitations next time, which she does. Still, we do see an exhausted Pinkie Pie, if only for a brief time.
  14. Alright, this seems troll-y in nature but I shall make one observation on this. Any individual who claims to understand the minds of a huge and growing collective of people and makes declarative statements as to why they are devoted to a thing is either some manner of narcissistic egotist or simply joking around and hoping for attention.
  15. I got more into Banjo Tooie, but yes, fan of the characters. Wish I found the charm some people did in Nuts and Bolts. I wanted to like it but I just got frustrated and quit.
  16. Gotten some people to at least give it a look and come away respecting it but not entirely invested. May have converted my parents, as they actually started watching some episodes on their own, so I'm pretty happy about that.
  17. I could deal with some bizarre chaos, at least for awhile, so I'm thinking Discord. Well, eternal night isn't the worst thing either, though I'd probably develop a Vitamin D deficiency at some point. But there are pills for that...hmmm not sure anymore. Certainly not a Cockatrice, as I lack staring powers and don't want to turn to stone (though if you can be turned back at a later date may work as a substitute for cryogenic freezing, so I could visit the future but there are no guarantees either). Spike's whole thing was greed, so as long as I get out of his way, wouldn't be too terrible. I guess in answer to your question, I wouldn't really fight any of these characters, I'd just be amused by the bizarre impact their villainy would have on the world.
  18. The location I was frequenting had a huge tear in it (nearly severing poor Pinkie's head) maybe a week into the whole promotion so...not getting that. But hey, well done on scoring one in good shape.
  19. Why do people always pluralize it? "My Little Ponies". Just...comes up way too often, find it odd. Anyway, they just so barely touched on the topic at all this can hardly be considered informative. They just generalize and say everybody stays home and stops interacting with society because of the show, which is 100% incorrect, at least in my case. Really, even the online interactions are more healthy than nothing at all. Just 9-5 every day, not engaging with the world at large. Why is that considered healthy? And the Brony meet-up aspect of it all really contradicts what they said as well. I know it isn't worth getting mad over, but still. People are getting paid money to spread ignorance on television. Just absurd, and it gets less funny every time I see it happening. Stop being so judgmental, mainstream media. You are setting a really negative tone for a lot of people.
  20. Oh man, didn't know there was an issue in episode 2 as well. Got my replacement discs awhile ago and gifted some, so that's a shame. Oh well, hope they sort it out next time around. Is there any word on sales data for these? Just...curious how significant the impact Bronies are having on this is compared to your average "kids" DVD.
  21. Oddly, this kind of relates to a lesson I was told at my first job at a grocery store. Sometimes people just have no outlet for their rage and frustrations at all, so the slightest thing can set them off and they'll just vent. In my case, it was not knowing where a certain shipment of potatoes came from or when a shipment was expected, etc (never got raged at really, it was just a common enough occurence in the business they felt best to warn me about it). It seems you were just the most convenient scapegoat on hand for her to unleash all her frustrations pertaining to her feelings on homosexuality and the open-minded nature of most Bronies on. So I wouldn't get too discouraged by it, she obviously had no reason to hate you personally and her feelings towards the show, homosexuality and her nephew are clearly misinformed and ignorant. She likely felt embarrassed later, or will when she confronts the matter in a more reasonable way, say, talking to her nephew about it. Must have been unpleasant though, certainly sounds jarring.
  22. This may be a good place to ask this, are there any quality Applejack T-shirts? I scrolled through a bunch of the WeLoveFine designs and it seemed there was a distinct lack of love for AJ. As such I have an RD shirt, one with PP and FS but nothing with AJ, which would be a great pony to have what with living in a pretty country western-inclined town (Calgary, Alberta).
  23. Had no idea there were names for R63 ponies so...now I know that. Thank-you.
  24. First job was in the produce section of Co-Op (grocery chain out here). As for zany stories, when watermelons rot it is the WORST. POSSIBLE. THING. Also, the management told me a scary story about black widows showing up in bags of grapes on occasion so I get extremely nervous whenever I buy grapes now (which is also much less often than it would be had I not worked there).
  25. It isn't a great story really, but I had a dream that at least acknowledged ponies this past week. Long story short, there was a library with a dedicated Pony section (this library was also open very late), and I was quite pleased with this discovery.
