  1. My guess would be that the show represents more of a relief from a lot of social burdens for men than for women, as it completely counters the traditional notion of what it means to be a "man" (outside of some fantasies Spike has, which are humorous in how absurd they are). So while I'm sure many women would like the show, it just doesn't contrast with the expectations society has put on them as sharply as it does with men. Or maybe more men spend outrageous amounts of time on the internet, either/or.
  2. I echo the thought expressed already, my understanding was anyone older than 13 who likes the show. Those within the target demo...I dunno, guess they are just "fans" or "cool kids" or something.
  3. In that the whole world seems a lot friendlier and funnier now, yes, absolutely.
  4. Oh I was curious in a positive way for quite awhile, just didn't have time to check it out until recently. I've enjoyed so-called "kids" shows before (Invader Zim springs to mind), so I was meaning to watch it long before I did. And now I'm hooked forever it seems.
  5. I wouldn't say "dislike", though I relate to some more than others. Still generally pleased with the whole cast though, the show juggles its characters extremely well.
  6. Oh, I talked to them for hours about it and the community surrounding it, got them to watch the first four episodes as well. I'm not sure they'll continue watching on their own, but they certainly see a lot of the charm and positive values in it so they've been supportive.
  7. A little bothered by some of the conflict I've seen amongst Twitter Bronies regarding hatred of Justin Bieber. Yes, you may not be a fan of his music (personally never paid much attention to it, but my sister is a fan), but WE are fans of something that is unpopular amongst a lot of people and we complain about being hated on, so why not extend that same courtesy to fans of other media? Just seems kind of hypocritical, or lacking in self-awareness.
  8. As a twenty-four year old, feel pretty self-conscious about this prospect, though it DOES feel cool to be part of a larger movement and those characters ARE really charming, so toys ain't a half-bad way of representing that. Conflicted on whether I'll be hunting for these or not though, despite wanting to flaunt my love of the show however I can.
  9. According to Wikipedia, the monthly viewership was at 4 million by the end of season 1. And that is only via conventional broadcasts and stuff Hasbro has tabs on (so no YouTube, torrents, or livestreams). I myself have only been in on this for just over three weeks, and I've talked to friends who say they have siblings/other friends who are also into the show, so it seems to have spread really quickly over the last 15 months. Really though, the answer is: not big enough. This show deserves everyone's attention. Not saying be pushy about it, but I'd advise against hiding it as well.
  10. I am open about it but I'm still the tiniest bit self-conscious. At present I'm wearing a Rainbow Dash shirt and for some reason I'm a bit keyed up, like someone is going to turn and yell at me like the last scene in "Invasion of the Bodysnatchers" or something and I need to be ready to run. Think I've heard too many stories from other Bronies about being made fun of, so I'm worried despite having zero negative reactions in real life thus far (got in a minor argument on twitter, which wasn't fun, but no serious hassle thus far).
  11. Hello everypony, I'm new to this board but I've already jumped into several other MLP-related parts of the web so may have interacted with some of you before (/mylittlepony on reddit especially). Been incredibly overwhelmed with the positive attitude and warmth fans of this show just let pour out all over the place. "Inspiring" hardly begins to describe it. So thanks to all of you, the pioneering Bronies, who made it impossible to ignore this wonderful show and made it easy to get into with only the most minor bit of hazing from people that know me (so far, the shirts have yet to arrive).
