  1. MLP, Madoka, and Silent Hill are probably my greatest obsessions currently.
  2. The ages are iffy in this show... I think we can safely say that Applebloom is an older child, Cadence in the flashback is a teenager, the mane six are older teens-young adults, and Cadence and Shining Armor currently are adults. I view the Cakes as older adults, and then Granny Smith is an example of the elderly. I'm going to say that in the flashback, Twilight is ~12 and Cadence is ~16, making them 4 years apart. If Twilight is 18-20 now, then Cadence is 21-24 or so. Maybe Twilight was 10ish in the Flashback, so that just means there's a 6 years difference. Cadence can be anywhere from 21 to 26, maybe up to 28 at a stretch.
  3. Probably the Flash vs Hand-drawn comment bugged me the most. That has to do with me being an art student... and just plain loving art. But, y'know, that's fine. You're allowed your own opinion even if it's ignorant and absolutely wrong.
  4. I'm so sorry, Pinkie Pie... it's just a matter of taste, personal preference.
  5. I am an art nerd and a geek in general.
  6. Yeeeah, he's very meh in my opinion. I view him as a plot device. I want Fancy Pants back. I like him a LOT. He's my favorite high-class Canterlot-type pony.
  7. Sorry to double-post but I've worked hard on her and would like for someone to say something, anything. I also just realized I forgot to give her a horn in the last three. Whoops. A little info. on the OC... she's cutiemark-less because it has to do with her story. She's a creative thinker and ideas type of pony who enjoys all things related to story-creating and art. She has problems keeping her chin up. She's shy and withdrawn. Ahh, what else... I'll add more when I think of more. I'm planning on doing a little comic to show off her personality a little better. And I don't think of her as me. She's a hybrid between me and original concepts.
  8. I see what you're saying, def. I have a unicorn OC that I'm in the works of designing (and would REALLY love some feedback on her please, can you hop over here and toss a remark? I'm not shamelessly advertising, honest; just in need of feedback is all) and the reason I chose her is because unicorns in the show seem to be either intelligent or creative as though that's an inherent unicorn trait. I think what race you choose to make your OC depends on what kind of traits you want. Unicorns are smart or creative and can use magic, each has at least one special ability. Pegasus ponies can fly and tend to be athletic, but of course this can be subverted like in the case of Flutters. And then Earth ponies are typically talented with things the other ponies are not, like food. Earth ponies are hard workers in some way or another, AJ with the apple farm or Pinkie with how hard she works at making others happy. They seem to pour their hearts into their jobs. ('Course Rarity does too but I mean I'm just trying to see general trends with the different types of ponies.) Lastly, alicorns are reserved for the elevated princess role and I think they should be avoided in making OCs.
  9. First I have to wonder why they do the evil laugh to begin with. I think that it either A) is used to show how sadistic the villain is and how much s/he enjoys being evil, or B ) shows their detachment from reality--their lacking sanity and broken morals. In the case of B. I like the evil laugh very much, but the laugh has to be done in a certain way... not over the top, and in a creepy, unnatural fashion. I like it because it's twisted, it's unnatural, and it's unnerving. Makes you feel uncomfortable. (Because people are supposed to laugh when they're happy, but when a psycho twisted villain gives a freakish laugh it's a sign that something is horribly wrong) I think it's okay for Discord to laugh but I mean all the villains have laughed besides him, even Sombra I think. The show can risk being a bit subtler and less cliché. Kids will still get the point. Another not-creepy laugh I enjoy is Invader Zim's because it's hilarious. Anyway, to wrap up, I just want to say that there are many different types of villains and different strokes for different folks and all. My personal favorite villains though are the ones that are mentally cracked, are complete and total monsters--flat-out evil and loathsome like Johann from Monster, or are manipulative buckers. Looking around on the villains wiki I also found out that I'm very fond of abstract Eldrich-abomination type monsters like Dementors from HP or Cthulhu, just to throw out examples. edit: Can you tell I just love, love, LOVE villains? Been obsessed with them lately. Writing them, researching them, etc. -_-
  10. Rarity makes me crack up! Rarity Pinkie Pie Twilight Sparkle Fluttershy & Rainbow Dash are tied, I laugh about equally for them (the hardest I've ever laughed for RD was when she first wore those sunglasses) Applejack
  11. Season 1 About 7 songs over a minute long The rest all under 1 minute, most around 30 seconds Season 2 about 8 songs over a minute long, the rest about a minute or under Season 3 about 9 songs over a minute long, the rest about a minute or under Season 4 10 songs so far that are well over a minute, maybe 2-3 that are a minute-ish or under Quite a number in the 2-3 minute range And according to your post, we have 6 more songs to go, which'll probably be around 2 minutes each. Yeah there's definitely an increase in the amount of song we're getting. I love the songs! Buuuut I just feel they should tone it down an eensy bit. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. There are a couple of songs throughout the show I feel we would be better without though, especially that Raise this Barn song. They could have done without it.
  12. pros of songs: music that you can listen to outside of the show emotional connection to the character ability for creative visuals (like stuff not making sense. Take in "Apples Forever" how AJ and AB pop up in the foreground to sing or how the umbrellas become an apple core) may allow characters to communicate to one another through song, but not directly it's a performance of singing talent, musical talent, lyrics and animation breaks up the "usual" show stuff happening cons of songs: doesn't allow for direct conversation between characters cuts into plot-development unless it somehow serves towards the plot less "realism" takes a good chunk of time to put on a song away from the show--usually songs are built around a simple concept that could be established in less time without the music I have nothing against the songs and in fact really like them, but I do not like being showered with song after song. I like it more if they feel "special," if there are less of them throughout the season so that they feel fresh. The biggest gripe I have with the songs aside from them becoming "common" is that they soak up time. We only get 20 minutes of show, but the average song takes away around three minutes. Of course, there are tiny songs throughout the show, imo it's better for those to be more common than the 2-3 min. ones we've been getting a lot of. I'm not complaining all that much really... I just think they should tone it down an eensy bit and they'll be golden.
  13. I enjoyed grade school, middle school was fine, high school was probably the worst, the first two years of college were the best, and I still enjoy college but I also want out. High school. Yeah. That's the worst. Especially Freshman year just because I knew no one, things were so different, we were the runts of the school; all in all that was the low point in my school life I believe.
  14. I'd appreciate your opinions. I can't make up my mind on how she should look... At least by drawing her over and over I'm getting practice. There's a clear improvement there so that's good. So about her appearance... I want my OC to be an intellect with a melancholic temperament (black bile). I'd like to give her a color scheme centered around blue-violet that's visually appealing and also looks like it could blend right into the show. But I'm having trouble making all of my ideas work together properly while also looking good. Blargh. I'm going to try and do some more mini-sketches of her in the meantime though. Edit: Just sketched this one. Not sure. Hmmm...
  15. I've taken the Myers Briggs (numerous times to make sure) a long time ago and have done research on it pretty in-depth. I'm an INTP. INTP and INTJ types are common on the internet, and the ESFJ is one of the rarest on the internet. It's just their personality talking. The ESFJ is geared towards having a high social life and they're also realistic and pretty down-to-earth; thus the internet isn't their cup of tea necessarily--they're more likely to check Facebook and that's about it (although it appears there is at least one ESFJ on the mlpforums.) Of course Myers Briggs has no hard and fast rules when it all comes down to it. It's all about tendencies and preferences. Basically. Anyway--so, yeah. It makes sense that INTP and INTJ have the most votes. I am a bit surprised at the lack of ENTJ though! The typical "ENTJ" must not be too crazy about ponies huh? Darn... well, that makes sense too. ENTJs are more action-flick type of people. Not that they have that much room for entertainment anyway. They're ambitious. (Again, the Myers Briggs is a pretty general thing. But I love it so, so much. I have fun with the "types" and I have my own ideas from experience what type of people fall into what types. ) If you are an INTJ, INTP, ENTP, or INFP, feel free to chat to me about whatever. I get along with those four types the best. In other words, we might be able to become friends fairly easily.
  16. Probably an artist. If not that, then a writer or a therapist. Just as a background pony but yeah that's what I'd be doing, one of those three.
  17. Reel in it? That's the tough part. The banana peel makes me think of words like "split," "slip," and "peel." Reel Peel? You can variate on those words too. Splitty, slippy, etc... Hm. I'm sorry, but I'm at a loss for other ideas. Basically all I can think of is Splitty Reel, Split Reel, Slip Reel, Reel Peel, Slippy Reel, Reel Slippy ...
  18. What a superb episode. Couldn't possibly say it better than what's already been said here. Encore, encore.
  19. The critic has the BEST reactions. I'm tempted just to compile reaction vids of him to use for later reference.
  20. Hey all. I'm a 23 year old female brony. An artist and a writer, currently bogged down with school and work. Nice to meet you
  21. Certain brands of root bear are nasty. If I'm going to drink root bear, I want it to be the good stuff. But when it IS the good stuff, I like it a lot better than Dr. Pepper. My default choice is Dr. Pepper unless I can get my hands on a good rootbeer, preferably served ice cold in a bottle.
  22. 2009 and 2010 were my two happiest years so far. 2009 is the year that I graduated high school and started going to college. I was happy at the school, was away from my hometown for the first time (it felt really free), and I had my first boyfriend. I enjoyed my classes, had my own car... everything about these two years was great for me. I hope that this year or the next is almost as good as those two years.
