  1. I think inspiration manifestation had that plot, so yes it does exist.
  2. shrinking yes. it is undenyable no matter how invested you are in the show that the fanbase is getting smaller
  3. many people hate g 1-3 because it is what people think of when my little pony is broght up. its almost as if most people thing a brony is someone who watches g1-3 for fun. as gen 1-3 directly influence what the fandom is seen as from the outside, people feel like they have to make clear distinctions between the old "bad" mlp and the new "good" mlp. Is it deserving of its hate, probably not. is it deserving of our praise, probably not. gen 1-3 were forgettable and passable enough to sell kids toys, not good enough to be remembered.
  4. first of all, you cannot forget that mlp is in the grand scheme of things a large commercial for plastic horses marketed towords young girls, not to mention that the show is more then 5 seasons in and currently the mane 6 are set in stone. theres the factual answer as for background characters, i think it would be meaningless to add background characters just for the sake of having more males. even if the show contained all males and people tried to shoehorn in females just for the sake of having females(ahem ghostbusters), it would annoy me, especially if it took away from the meaningful writing(AHEM GHOSTBUSTERS). As it stands, the show is fine. I have no reason to want to shoehorn males into the show.
  5. I feel that everyone in the thread seems to be overthinking it. Imo it is all about perception and how when something is new and exciting(like early mlp) you tend to create fond memories of it. along with this you tend to think that things arent as good as they used to be. Its called nostalgia. Anyway, when you look back at the memories, you will think more fondly. Anyway, the reason why people are seeing the old episodes this way is the same reason why people look back at music from the 70's fondly and say things like"remember x song. it is miles ahead of anything today." the reason for this skewed perception is that there were plenty of terrible songs in the 70's, but people remember the good songs. I guess what i am trying to say is that there have been bad episodes in the earlier seasons too. but when you compare all the memorable episodes to new episodes, you are making invalid comparisons. TLDR when you compare new episodes to the most memorable episodes of the past, you are bound to be more critical of the newer material
