  1. Oh my gosh Jenna, we needed this thread so badly! Thank you, thank you for making this. The amount of debate threads I've seem springing up around feminism is demoralising. I know such threads are a good sign, one which proves our voices are being heard. (There is no change without backlash, after all.) But it'll be wonderful to see a thread which is for us, where we can discuss feminist issues in a supportive environment.

As for me, I've always considered myself equal and no different to men. I didn't understand what feminism truly was until I stumbled across Anita Sarkeesian's videos, though. The way she spoke and the issues she bought to light were eye-opening, and it was at that moment that I realised I was a feminist and I always had been. Joining Tumblr shortly afterwards only reinforced that. Yes, Tumblr can be a little radical-leaning at times, but I've managed to find a nice niche of people there who reblog and post phenomenal articles, critiques and commentary on issues.

I think most of the hatred and misunderstandings surrounding feminism stem from misinformation about what we truly aim to achieve. We're about equality, not superiority. What most people who identify as 'egalitarians' fail to realise is that modern feminism is almost the same as feminism. The issues and stereotypes we're fighting help men as well. We want to make the world an equal place for people of both genders to enjoy. Our focus is on women because women still face more discrimination and disadvantage in our society in comparison with men. That's what we aim to fix, and by fixing it we help men gain equal recognition in traditionally 'female' roles where they face ridicule due to the notion that a 'girly' job should be beneath them. (Something which also stems from sexism.)

I'm proud to call myself a feminist, and I always will be.

I completely agree with you. Anita's videos are very eye opening, and honestly, an interesting watch. It's such a shame she gets so much backlash for her videos. She is by no means a radical feminist, and she is brave for continuing to speak despite the hate towards her.

  2. Hello, welcome to the forums!

It's awesome to see another Californian brony. :D

Don't be so nervous, we're all really friendly here. Please, don't be afraid to message me with questions!

  3. Of course, this isn't all kids.

My younger sibling (6) knows what a gameboy is. He wanted one for a long time.
Yes, the original gameboy (the OG if you will).
You just have to educate your kids, you know? Don't give up on humanity.

  4. I use the Pinkie Pie promise with my siblings.

For my older sister, it's so she knows I'm not gonna back down on a promise. She's not a big fan of the show, but she knows not to break a Pinkie Pie promise either.

For my little brother, I have used it to reassure him. For instance: He wanted water in the middle of the night but was too scared to get it 'cause it was dark. I also have a fear of the dark, but I walked with him, "Pinkie Pie promising" that nothing was gonna happen to him. It soothed him greatly.

  5. *pulls teeth out*

Threads like these are one big 'ol circle-jerk of agreement, and the participants actively shun those who disagree with the topic at hand.

It brings nothing to the table but blank faces and nodding heads.

I could pick apart your wall of text. I could literally tell you everything you did wrong in past posts that earned you the SJW label.

    It wouldn't be hard.

But I'll let you get on with your thread.

    Feminism doesn't bother me.

    Does your conscious bother you?

I'm sorry you feel this way, friend.

If you want to debate feminism, here are two topics I recommemd:

    http://mlpforums.com/topic/103064-feminism-how-do-you-feel-about-it/

    http://mlpforums.com/topic/100982-third-wave-feminism/

I just want to discuss feminism peacefully with other supporters, so my conscious feels fine.

  6. I'm just gonna take the old advice and say, "if you ain't got nothing nice to say, then don't say nothing". That's the rule of this thread, apparently.

But let me just say that the "sexism in this fandom" comments are inaccurate as f*ck.

Maybe back then, from the old 4chan days, where the birthplace of bronydom was littered with dark stains, but definitely not now, and its annoying that people still insist it's rampant.

I still go through sexism in the Fandom. People have literally told me that I'm not a brony because I was a girl and the show is not a "male" show and I am not to participate in it. This year, around February if I recall.

A male brony was chatting with me and said, "Yeah you're not a brony, you're a pegasister." When I told him I hate the term, he rolled his eyes. "Just accept the name. You're a girl and that's what the female brony is called."

    That was in May.

  7. No, just get opinions. Sorry :(

My main goal with that was to get an opinion from rational feminists

    Oh okay! I'm sorry. ^^

    Excuse my accusation friend!

  8. BTW, what do you think of this idea

"Making women butch is sexist and homophobic. By making a female masculine, you are telling little girls they have to act like men and perpetuating the stereotype of strong women being men"

Note that this was in response to Elsa from Frozen fighting off some guards. Because fighting is purely for males and this

    Is Butch

I don't want to be rude, but this post and your previous one about women with periods make it seem as if you are trying to start an argument.

  9. I for one welcome our new feminine overlords. Hmm, after reading a lot of the posts on this thread, it seems that I was mistaken in what the majority of feminists are for. You all have my full support. :)

Thank you very much for the support. We appreciate it. ;)

  10. Relying on Tumblr blogs for research is idiotic. These are the same people who tried to take down 4Chan and paid dearly for it

I'll say. My tags were flooded with warning posts about 4chan going to Tumblr. I never saw a single warning post though.
