I wish English would just be phonetic, and I always argue towards whichever spelling is closer to matching the sounds of the letters in a situation of US spelling versus UK spelling. So for instance colour and metre are wrong. I know there are also examples in favor of British spelling but I can't remember 'em.

I've heard some nice London accents. Gotta be honest though, I wish everyone spoke with a Northwestern US accent. By the book and simple, it's nice...

I can type quite fast, faster than my family and friends at any rate. I didn't actually learn from a program, I just sort of evolved out of chicken pecking. I kind of move my hand around the keyboard and use a given finger based on where my hand is at the moment. Rather than resting my hands on the home row, my hand angles kind of sideways as I type, and they move forward and backwards along the row based on which keys I was using. It looks kind of odd, but apparently it works very well. If I could find one, I really want to get a Dvorak keyboard though, so I might have to learn over again.

For a sore throat, licorice or hibiscus is great. For congestion, I like wasabi. It's painful, but it really works.

Ugh I can't stand celebrity culture. I understand wanting to look up to people and respecting those with impressive accomplishments, but most celebrities are only famous because their career is based on being seen by lots of people. I don't see how that makes them so much more special than whoever else... ...but what I really don't get, is why so many people are starving to watch these people's lives crash and burn. It's sickening, like seriously, what is wrong with people having so little respect for privacy and relishing so much in the misfortune of others?

I wish I could fall asleep before 4:00 but I haven't woken up before noon in months now. It just never works out, and on those few days I try I wind up being kept awake for hours by mosquitos. Meh, I'm way too picky about my music to use Spotify. Not only that, but the small amount of music I want isn't likely to be found on there anyways. @ Nothing irritates me more than when I find an excellent song, but it only seems to be on Youtube. It sounds like crap on my speakers, and they aren't even all that great.

I'm wearing a Costa Rica t-shirt with a skull long sleeve shirt over it, with a black and white striped long sleeve shirt over that, and boxers down below. I've got a hot body and cold legs, yeah!

Family day? Well I guess I spent it trying to convince my parents to keep on reading Homestuck, but my dad kept nagging that he wanted to watch True Detective instead so we wound up watching two episodes of that. Nothing like watching an HBO show with the parents. Yup, not awkward at all. Well I guess it beats reading out loud Dave's counter-troll about underage wang.

No idea yet if I'm even gonna be studying anything other than Chinese next year. If so it'll probably be intermediate programming, graphic design, and game theory classes. If not then intermediate-advanced Chinese it is, with extra time to cram writing! Yay! ...god do I hate studying languages other than English, my brain is just not made for it. Especially this Chinese character BS.

I actually find people's tastes in names quite interesting! I like Elise, Erika, Alice, and Maria for girls' names. Boys' names I'm less sure of. Shaun, Eren, and Alexis are nice.

I really think it's just that "Woman" has two syllables while "Man" has only one. I think there are definitely plenty of forms of patriarchy that we see on a regular basis, but that isn't one. I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but, even if there is (And there might be for some people!) something to it, it's that kind of attitude that makes people think feminists are full of crap. Nothing wrong with it if she's not shouting it from on high though.

Personally, I think English ought to have words like ze and hir. I don't know exactly how you get things to change, but I just don't think their is a good catch-all. There are many time when it just doesn't feel right, or it's just plain confusing using a plural pronoun to refer to one person when I could also be referring to multiple. Every word feels weird for a while, but once it's in your lexicon it will feel natural, pretty much always. Although speaking of other languages, those that have gender neutral pronouns often just plain don't use gendered pronouns at all. Chinese, at least, has three pronouns, I, you, they (singular). Ta can be used to refer to anything in the third person, though in written form there is a separate character for he, she, they, it (object), and it (animal). For all pronouns adding men turns them plural (e.g. wo men (I plural) is we). In my opinion this method of handling pronouns is just plain better than English. You might not expect it but it makes absolutely 0 difference to the amount of clarification necessary, while making awkward situations (with animals, or androgenous-looking or unmet people) almost nonexistent. There's also less processing time while you figure out which is the appropriate pronoun for a given thing.
