  1. I'm fond of The Next Generation, Voyager, and the films myself (both the older films and the recent reboot).

    Voyager:

Honesty - B'Elanna (for always speaking her mind)

Kindness - Kes (she was so often so sweet)

Laughter - Neelix (probably the easiest choice out of this list!)

Generosity - The Doctor (I found this one harder, and based it on his willingness to help Seven of Nine even though it pained him sometimes)

Loyalty - Janeway (her loyalty to her crew is one of the reasons I like her)

Magic - Chakotay (he has mystical moments from time to time!)

  2. I forgot to post this before - did anyone else nearly fall down of the amazing cuteness when Rarity did that little dance during Let The Rainbow Remind You? It made my day!

  3. I find Tumblr really hard to navigate. I don't think I could ever follow a discussion on there without getting confused, but I do sometimes go on it to read one or two blogs. Though I've got to say, even doing that I seem to see a lot of drama, so that makes me want to steer clear.

  4. It definitely doesn't appeal to me - I don't think I could enjoy reading a fanfic when they were really out of character. I don't mind relationships - I mean, they're shown to be caring compassionate beings, so moving into having a relationship doesn't seem a big stretch to me, and trying to find other sides of a pony's nature wouldn't bother me (like if there was a fanfic showing more of Luna's silly side, or Rainbow Dash's softer side). But if you're talking so far over the line that the line is a dot, like Cupcakes or something, then I tend to steer clear of those things. I did read a bit of Cupcakes but I was disgusted and baffled all at once. I just don't like to see my ponies like that I'm afraid!

  5. Had my tonsils out twice (they didn't get them all the first time!) when I was 2 and again at 9, a hernia operation when I was 5, and a tooth cut out of my gum when I was about 15. Nothing too exciting or difficult to get over, thankfully!

  6. I absolutely love rice with brown gravy.

I freak out if juice or heat from food makes other food on the plate go soft, I don't know why, I just hate the texture (and can often be found mopping my plate with kitchen roll to make sure all is well lol!)

If I'm serving any kind of small fruit like berries or strawberries, I have to count them to make sure everyone gets the same amount.

I don't like eating two kinds of food at once, so if I have, say, sausage and mash, I'll eat a forkful of mash, then one of sausage.

I love putting crisps (potato chips) in a sandwich. No other filling, just the crisps!

    I think that's it.

  7. I like the idea of keeping her unable to fly and encouraging her to get around in her own unique way - amazing scootering, propelled by her wings. It's become such a big part of who she is and it's also nice to see the show tackling the fact that some ponies have problems that others don't, and showing her handling it well anyway.

  8. I think that if she gets into those things and enjoys them, that's for her to decide. You can't decide what fandoms she will be part of based on your tastes, that's not really fair.

I think the important thing is to encourage her to explore what she likes and to express herself, and to understand that while fandom can be really intense and fun, it's important to develop outside of that as well.

  10. Hope this is ok to post :)

I've noticed a few LGBT bronies around lately looking to meet others, hence this thread. The forum is a lovely welcoming place and I for one don't mind about people's preferences when it comes to being friends, but I also know from my own experience that it can be really nice to meet people who have first-hand experience of being on the LGBT spectrum. I thought maybe if you're LGBT and happy to add friends on here, post a comment so others can friend you, or just say hi.

To start off with, I'm Tristan, I'm FTM transgender but not yet transitioning, and I'm also demi-sexual and pansexual. Sometimes I feel like I'm trying to collect all the lables, but all the same, that's me in a nutshell :)

People make use of getting offended way more than they should. I mean, it's absolutely natural to get offended by something that isn't a direct insult, (feelings have never been rational), but that doesn't mean the other person is invading your rights. As long as it doesn't objetively affects anything in your life or your rights, a posture is an opinion and nothing more. You cannot complain about people using 'get out of the closet' for mlp going out. Well.. actually, complaining is the only thing you can do. It is what they think vs. what you think it's good, and objectively you can't say anything is better than the other.

It's a bit offensive to say people are "making use of getting offended", as if it was just an excuse to be awkward. Often times when someone says they have an issue with something, it's a genuine issue which might not seem that big to you because you're not living their experiences, but is still valid to them. In fact, using "coming out of the closet" for telling people you're a brony could have an indirect effect on LGBT people by devaluing the term and making it sound like it's not a big deal, when really it can be a huge deal.

More generally as regards the thread:

I don't find using coming out of the closet to be offensive per se, but I do find it to be a huge overstatement and that's where I have a bit of a problem with it. I realise that people do get mocked for being a brony and that the fear of how someone will react is genuine, but it's not the same as people fearing losing jobs, their home, or a relationship due to being LGBT. Also, being a brony is great but at the end of the day you don't have to wear brony shirts. You could leave the jewellery at home. You don't have to tell people in order to live your life comfortably. At the end of the day, you're telling someone you like a TV show that they might find hard to understand or make assumptions about, which can be hard, but it's not the same as saying "I want to be with other girls" or "I am male on the inside". For an LGB person, they have to risk coming out if they want to get married (if they're legally able to), live with someone, or even hold hands with their partner in public. For a T person, they have to risk coming out if they want to be able to present as their real gender without having to hide inside their biological gender for ever. So yes, I do think it would be better if bronies didn't use the term.

  12.

My favorite parts of the song, first off would be the chorus:

"Know that your time is coming soon.

As the sun rises, so does the moon.

As love finds a place in every heart.

You are a Princess, you'll play your part."

I'd be lying to you if I said I didn't shed some liquid pride.

There's so much emotion behind this specific part, just because all 3 of the princesses are singing, and they use their destinies as an example to Twilight Sparkle that hers will come soon, as is the way of being a Princess.

I hear you, there was definitely some liquid pride leaking from my eyes during that song, especially how emotional Twilight looked at the beginning on the balcony and then as you said, that chorus.

I admit I was very misty eyed during the second song too.

  13. I'm not sure if I've replied to this or not (oops!) but the order may well have changed by now anyway, so ...

    1. Rarity  :D

    2. Twilight

    3. Applejack

    4. Pinkie Pie :)

    5. Rainbow Dash >_>

    6. Fluttershy

Rarity didn't really become my best pony till season 4. I liked her, sure, but something about her this season captured my heart!

Twilight would have been lower down the list simply due to lack of screentime, but the finale reminded me of everything I love about her.

Applejack and Pinkie it's kind of hard to choose between, so really they're more like tied for third place. I love Pinkie, but some of her writing this season has been awful.

But on the other hoof, I've always liked Applejack ever since the premier and if I'd answered this earlier in the season she might have got 2nd place.

I do like Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy but nowhere near as much as, say, Rarity or Twilight.  Rainbow is funny and she made me laugh a lot this season, but if I was picking an episode to watch it probably wouldn't be a Rainbow-centric one, though I liked her better in this season than in any of the others.

Fluttershy was sweet and adorable and I enjoyed some of her story arcs this season, but somepony has to come last!
