  1. With passion you've got to take the good with the bad. Most of the time, Pinkie Pie does things in her own way, and though it seems random, in the end it works out. She often knows what to do, and how to do it. However, in order to write her as a whole character, and not just as a manic pixie girl who never has a downside to her random, intelligent creative energy, there has to be moments where her best traits are her worst. When Pinkie Pie's imagination runs away with her, she begins to manifest many possible scenarios , and if she is unable to reign them in, her passionate nature can be overwhelming and biting, instead of uplifting. An example of this is when she pushed herself too far in the Party of One. As someone who lives outside the box however, such chaos can be navigated successfully, and she always returns to the land of reality usually better than before. ("I always let my imagination run wild, and then it returns...with cake!") Using this knowledge about Pinkie, we look at Filli Manilli. First of all, I I think Pinkie wanted to push Fluttershy a bit. The more I think about Pinkie's role with Big Mac, the more it makes sense. After all, Pinkie Pie doesn't usually show a competitiveness nature for no reason. So, this leads me to believe that Pinkie Pie was already manipulating the situation so that Fluttershy would be able to sing. As for why she was freaking Fluttershy out so much? I think it was the same sort of thing- force Fluttershy to confront the fear, walk Fluttershy through the worst case scenarios but than show her that nothing really bad happened at all. The problem was that Fluttershy did not react very well to this pushing and could not handle the intensity of the method. So, putting it all together, we have moments in the episode, each with different aspects of Pinkie's personality. 1. The scenes where Pinkie Pie was actually trying to help: Pinkie Pie was passionately trying to tell Fluttershy that she was great, that nothing bad happened, that it wasn't as bad as she thought it would be, and that she empathizes with how frightening it could be, so Fluttershy should trust her judgement. And thus Pinkie Pie came off as a forceful jerk. You can see that Pinkie at some point gains awareness of this, and Pinkie Pie seems>frustrated< when her method was not working. For example, when Twilight said"What Pinkie Pie meant to say was that you did great." and Pinkie Pie says "Wait, didn't I say that?" or " Some of what Pinkie says is true", and Pinkie was like" Only some????" or when she quite earnestly turned to her friends and asked "To much?" 2. The Scenes where Pinkie Pie is getting ahead of herself, and engulfed in theatrics ( loosing herself passionately and getting carried away within the infinite stream of possibilities). 3. The scenes where Pinkie is playing the role of comedic jester whose self amusement sometimes goes to far. Pinkie Pie was kinda bored with episode, as we have addressed Fluttershy's shyness again, and again, and AGAIN. I think there were a few moments, where she was just doing things to self-stimulate and get through this episode. Comedians land a lot of jokes, but I am sure each and everyone of them remembers cracking a comment to lighten to mood only to be met with crickets and shocked stares. via @youtube In conclusion, yes, she was forceful, seemingly insensitive, and a bit shrill. She said things that did not come off right, and no matter how much more energy she put into fixing it, she just kept missing the mark. That is what passionate, enthusiastic, creative, smart a$$'s look like on an "off day" or when they enter a room and fail to "read it". And when Fluttershy is a coward that is in character. And when Dash is shallow, materialistic, and rude that is in character and when Twilight is judgmental, reclusive, and obsessive that is in character and when AJ is evasive, stubborn, and narrow minded that is in character and when Rarity is materialistic, snobby and selfish that is in character. It's dynamic and why I love this show so much. And I LOVE all of the mane six, in spite of, and because of their flaws. via @youtube
