So I was at Everfree Northwest because I'm a fucking dork and I attended this panel where people discussed headcanons and stuff because I was bored. Very last person to share theirs said something that many a Rarity fan would consider blasphemy, and I quote as best I can:
'Rarity is actually ugly by pony standards, proven in Green Isn't Your Colour (Fluttershy is a model episode) where Fluttershy completely and utterly eclipses Rarity through sheer looks.'
Now by no means do I actually believe this is true, but it did remind me of something I used to think and allow me to ruminate on it a little more (again, because I'm a fucking dork). Rarity and Fluttershy, I believe, are both in a different league of attractiveness than the other Mane Six (of course this is subjective, if anything AJ and Fluttershy are the two girls who have proven capable of attracting attention solely on their looks (note that I'm behind on Season 5 episodes so I dunno is this is still entierly true (lol the parentheses nesting))) but in different manners related to body type. I personally feel a more accurate take on the events of Green Isn't Your Colour is that Fluttershy is a model beauty. Runaway models have a certain body type because it's the easiest to make clothes look good on, they're typically fairly tall, thin, and don't have much curves. I believe that this translates into Fluttershy's pony stature (never mind that they're all more or less exactly the same damn body type thanks to animation, this is going above and beyond what the show directly depicts). For a pony she's willowy, lithe, taller than her friends, and easy on the body curves (sorry Hootershy but you're a shitty headcanon IMO). Rarity, thusly, is for a mare curvy, a bit thick (in a good way mind you), and probably a head shorter than Flutters (in pony terms, again this doesn't mean shit animation wise). They are both beauties, just in different respects.
Now of course everyone is going to promptly proceed to tell me how I'm wrong and how I suck eggs, etc. But there, that's my headcanon overly riddled with parenthetical clauses that could have easily been integrated into proper sentences.
