  1. I don't think they'll do anything with it since there was never a plan for it to begin with. Josh Haber has gone on record saying that the pony of shadows thing at the end, for example, was just a joke and they don't have any plans for it at this time. Nah, he has to earn a seat at the big table.
  2. Sounds fair to me. Have you considered being self-employed? Might be something to look into as well.
  3. I sorta like the band name. It's a little cheesy but it grew on me. I'm not so sure about the names though. Again, they sound more like bad OCs than official characters but maybe that's just me.
  4. Originally, when I walked into the recruiter's office to talk about joining the military, I knew that I wanted to do something special operations related. That was the only thing I could see myself doing. So, I made my choice based on the various units available to each branch. I ruled out the Navy because of all the publicity surrounding the SEALs at the time (bin Laden had just been taken out) and my impression of their community was that they were pumping out a lot of books and there was a lot of chest-beating bravado going 'round. I decided against the Marines for the same reason; I didn't particularly want to associate with the kind of people who are drawn to the Corps, though I found out later that people tend to mellow out a lot after they pin on a rank or two and have had their taste of how much BS they can be subject to. That left me comparing the Air Force and the Army, and I was especially impressed with the mission set of the Special Forces (Green Berets), so in the end that my basis for choosing. There are other benefits too, on the enlisted side at least; only the Army lets you have a degree of control over your destiny in that they allow you to choose your job. Unfortunately, training with the SF guys forced me to learn a few things about myself. It was a bitter pill to swallow when I didn't improve fast enough to meet their standards so when the rest of my buddies shipped off to Ft. Bragg for Selection, I had to go back to my unit. Anyway, that's enough of my sob story right now. The point is, people will tell you that an enlisted man with college education is always going to be underutilized and to a degree, they're right. The reason I chose to enlist had everything to do with the number of opportunities for SF guys on the enlisted side vs. the officers. So, unless you have a very specific plan in mind for yourself, I would suggest applying to be an officer because your overall quality of life will be miles above that of most of the people you command. You will also be above most of the day-to-day silliness that goes on in a garrison environment but in turn you will have your own, officer-only, absurdities that you will have to deal with, one of which being that your educational background may or may not have any relevance to what you will do as an officer. Doctors, JAG lawyers and Chaplains will all be doing things relevant to their education. Engineering officers, to use one example, are unlikely to be utilizing their fancy degrees in Engineering, assuming that is what they even have. You can be assigned to literally any branch of the Army, from Logistics to Intelligence to Infantry or Armor, it does not matter. That is simultaneously one of its greatest strengths and greatest weaknesses. tl;dr: I chose the Army because I had a specific goal in mind that required me to be in the Army. In terms of quality of life and being treated like an adult, actual results may vary but the Navy and the Air Force are always good bets.
  5. They went full Monster High on this one. Looks like she's ponified here, does she have butterfly wings? Is she a flutter pony?
  6. I'm trying to make it, but it's very up-in-the-air right now.
  7. Oh no, look at what I've gone and done! Jokes aside, this thing took me forever to work on. That's the thing with vehicles, they're the models that most tempt you to be lazy because of the sheer amount of work involved in getting one up to standard. I consider this level of painting "gaming" standard as opposed to "display" standard and it still took me about 2 or 3 days of work and a lot of episodes of Bar Rescue. The Hemlock Wraithfighter was a great model to work on and build. I just love the look of it, very sleek and angular. Fliers are before my time, gamewise, since they came in with 6th Edition and the last one I played was 5th back in the very early days when it first came out (I've played 40k since the twilight of 3rd Edition. Well, more like the beginning of 4th), so I can't speak for its effectiveness on the tabletop but when it comes to having the army look fabulous, it's an excellent addition. Next up will be a Farseer, I've got the model coming in the mail and I'll start putting it together over the course of this coming week. After that, there might not be updates for awhile as these models cost money and I've got a field problem coming up that will take me out of action until the end of the month.
  8. Well whatever you do, you definitely don't want to stay an EMT-B forever. There's no future in that.
  9. Las Pegasus Unicon 2020, return of the Unicon! Make it happen!

  10. 2005 - Graduated from High School. 2005 - 2008 - Graduated with my Bachelors in International Relations with a minor in History 2008 - 2011 - Did some law school postgrad but my law career failed to take off which is one of many reasons that I'm in the Army now. The Future I'm hoping to get my masters in Counterterrorism Studies or something equally relevant to national security. I still haven't decided on whether to do my 20 years in the military or get out and go private.
  11. I thought Twilight Time was actually a pretty good Twilight episode, showcasing her role as a teacher. I'd like to see another episode with Twilight as a mentor, maybe where she goes back to the School for Gifted Unicorns as a guest speaker.
  12. Yeah, the book basically covers the animated shorts in a little more detail. If you're curious as to what's in the future for the shorts, go ahead and read the book. Me, I like to be surprised.
  13. I liked the alternate ending where it turns out the whole thing was a horror movie that the Mane 6 were shooting to raise money for charity; I figure it would be totally up Pinkie's alley and she'd probably give him credit for the idea.
  14. Nonsense! Haven't you ever seen Big Bang Theory? You're never too old for the ball pit.
  15. I'd like you to take five minutes to think about what you just posted, especially that first line. As for Dazzle, I'm a fan of the colors and her mane style as a pony but I'm less sold on the name. It sounds like someone's first OC. Flashy but it doesn't roll off the tongue very well. Adagio...hmm... I got nothing. Razzle Dazzle? Razzle Dazzle 'em, and they'll never catch wise!
  16. This is why I feel that the Life Advice forum is a great thing to have; so many of the younger kids are growing up in relative isolation compared to kids of previous generations.
  17. it was indeed the wrong answer. Why the actual heck would they not notify con security or the girl's parents and then try to pin it on other congoers? I thought that anime fans as a whole were better than that. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has noted the irony that fans of a medium that used to have an unsavory reputation for consisting exclusively of Rule 34 (a fandom that I still consider myself a part of, for better or for worse) is now trying to trade on the alleged reputation of bronies for Rule 34.
  18. That's a fine question, I'll have to ask him when I get the chance. Could you be a little more specific?
  19. Well, merch in general. His plushies alone eclipse my entire collection about 10 to 15-fold.
  20. Lies and slander. Well, I haven't seen the new Necron codex but I still remember the old 3rd Edition one which was boring as sin and had like 3 viable builds. I do have an idea for pony-themed 'cron army where the body is primarily white with a little mint green source lighting where the eyes are and a pink/purple swirl for the power rods on their weapons
  21. I'm 26, so really I'm on the right side of 30 at least for the moment. Trust me, you are not the oldest brony I've met by a long shot. You should meet a friend of mine; he's pushing retirement age and is still super active on the convention circuit, not to mention his swag collection is so ridiculous I named him the Element of Swag. I don't know how he does it but I hope to be that strong when I'm his age.
  22. Hmm, it might just be your area. Warhammer fans are a big community and like with any big community you're going to get a wide variety of differing opinions on various subjects. That being said, I have seen what you describe and it surprises me that there is such animosity in the fandom towards ponies. Warhammer, and 40k in particular, has always embraced aspects that are a little bit silly. I mean, c'mon, we're talking about a game where orcs throw together ramshackle-looking contraptions that make no mechanical sense and yet somehow they work. Humans theorize that it works because they believe it does for chrissake. If that's not ridiculous then I don't know what is. I say this because the majority of Warhammer fans that have called for an exterminatus (which, if you didn't know, is the destruction of an entire planet because its population is deemed too corrupted by Chaos for a simple massacre of all the corrupted people) of bronies are half-joking when they say so. Just like we "love and tolerate the shit out of" everything, Warhammer fans have their thing about burning the mutant, killing the heretic, and purging the unclean. It's mostly in good fun. There have been fanfics written from the perspective of inquisitors detailing the purging of Hogwarts and how Santa Claus is a daemon of chaos that corrupts little children with his presents. So I wouldn't get too worried about it. I know guys on other forums that do this, but I also see them posting on the resident MLP threads all the time. There's a good chance that some Warhammer fans, like me, are also bronies. In fact, I guarantee it.
  23. I guess it's not art in the traditional sense, but I paint miniatures for tabletop wargames and have done some MLP-inspired stuff. I try not to make it too obvious with candy colored cartoon horses everywhere, rather, I try to do subtle things like a color scheme that hints at a certain thing from the show. Life is rather busy and tight on money right now, but I hope to become more prolific in the future. In the Grim Darkness of the Far Future, there are only Ponies Wraithguards 1 Spiritseer Hemlock Wraithfighter Farseer
  24. Bagel: Plain or egg with either cream cheese and smoked salmon, or well-toasted with a light spread of butter on top. Donut: Powdered with a jam filling. Doesn't weigh you down and tastes marvelous.
  25. In the business world, what you call attention whoring is called marketing. Frith is right, you need to be strategic in where and how you plug your work. If you come across as being obnoxious, I wouldn't call you an attention whore. I'd just say that you did a bad job at selling yourself and you need to go back to the drawing board and reevaluate how you do that. If at first you don't succeed, try try again.
