  1. My oc, Serene Sanguine, would definitely fit in. She's sort of like Twilight, in the sense that she's fascinated by learning, except for where Twilight is more interested in spells and astrology she's more interested in the experiences, anatomy, and sense of self of every other living being, pony or not! I think she has some quirks too that are different enough from existing characters so that she doesn't seem like a carbon copy of another. The fact that she's currently attending college is something that we don't often see in characters aside from Maud. I think an episode that visits Maud's university would work very well for her. :3
  2. Human Flash x Pony Flash. No one's said it, so I'm going to place my bet there!
  3. Not 100% sure but I'll take a crack at it. I think it's just being comfortable in your own skin. Not caring about how you look or your weight. For example, a guy who's above average weight may swim without a shirt on if he doesn't care how he is perceived. That's just my take on it, though.
  4. What I mean by slip it in is the characters aren't saying "They're both so gay for each other, but that's okay!" When have they ever drawn attention to the fact that it's a homosexual relationship? They haven't, it's treated as any other ordinary relationship (minus the whole being alien thing). Their interactions are never forced and are shown the same way any other relationship would. The emphasis is on how their relationship makes up Garnet, not on their sexual orientation. They don't once blast you with "this is a gay couple. I mean, they're really gay, look how gay they are." I can easily see their interaction being exactly the same if it were a heterosexual relationship. If their whole character was built upon the fact they were gay, sure it would feel forced and unauthentic, but it's not. The main focus is their care for each other and how they want to protect each other. The rest of your views on the show are just a matter of opinion, really.
  5. I love it! I'm beaming right now, this is great! Thank you, thank you, thank you! <3
  6. Your drawings are really clean and smooth. I'd definitely be interested in a drawing of my OC! :3 Here she is! https://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/serene-sanguine-r9364
  7. I don't think we'll have to worry about stereotyping all too much. I mean, look at the brothers we do know: Big Mac and Shining Armor. Sure, Big Mac started out as the big and silent type, but Season 5 has definitely given him his due development. The end of Brotherhooves Social was one of my favorite Apple family moments of all time. Similarly, Shining Armor has multiple sides to him. The militaristic and dutiful side, the concerned older brother side, the loving husband and father side, and the completely geeky side. I think they'll give Fluttershy's brothers some proper character.
  8. Errmm.. hula hoop? Why do you keep ninja'ing me? ;-;
  9. Corn and Vienna sausages, yum! EDIT: NO, NO, I DON'T EAT PONIES. Umm, hugs and affection! Same.
  10. It'd only be blatant and preachy if they draw attention to it and make a big deal of it. If they can casually slip it in, a la Ruby and Sapphire, I think it could work. Of course, I don't think it should be between any main characters, and I don't think the episode should revolve around it. It's something better seen than heard. Just show a relationship, but don't make it a focus. No need for Twilight or somepony else to say, "Those two mares love each other so much, and that's perfectly acceptable." Just show that it's a normal occurrence in Equestria and it's not any different from seeing a straight couple.
  11. Slice of Life was great. Would I want multiple "Slice of Lifes?" No. Slice of Life was special because it was for us bronies, and it was a harmless and kind gesture from the show staff. I found it very sweet. To repeatedly create these types of episodes would cause the message to lose its meaning. Amending Fences? I can get behind that for sure. It brought 3 background characters into development, and they were fantastic. There wasn't a bit of pandering either. Minuette wasn't a dentist, and she had her own unique personality (which I thought was charming and just downright adorable). And it wasn't an episode for the same of being an episode, it heavily involved a main character. I would love more "Amending Fences" type episodes.
  12. I still do hope they touch upon Starlight's ideal of equality a bit more. It was an interesting concept, and the way Starlight turned friendship back against Twilight during the finale when she defended Fluttershy from the bullies was intriguingly dastardly. They kind of brushed by the whole equality thing. I personally would have loved for Twilight to explain to Starlight why Cutie Marks aren't a bad thing. That's the one loose end I've found at the end of the finale.
  13. At first, I never got the whole "Flurry Heart may be a Changeling thing." But I didn't really know what a changeling was in terms of mythology, until today. And really, I can actually see something like this happening. Changelings were thought to have kidnapped children and replace them with another changeling. I can definitely see this being the case, especially after the Changeling in the background of the premiere. You saw how powerful Chrysalis was just by feeding off of Shining's love alone. There's no doubt Shining and Cadence love Flurry Heart very much, and as parents, they will be giving Flurry Heart a great amount of attention and affection. Not only is this Changeling receiving love from Shining Armor, but also from the princess of love herself. Not to mention, if the Changeling keeps its disguise and doesn't arouse suspicion it will have been feeding on this intense amount of love for a long time. Keep in mind, this is the same love that was able to overpower and defeat Chrysalis. And from what we know, Changelings don't treasure friendship or anything of the sort at all. They truly are insects, acting on instinct alone. There'd be no Discording/Glimmering the Mane Six's way out of this one. What'd be even more devastating is if the Changelings were able to replace Pound and Pumpkin Cake as well, and possibly every baby in Ponyville. Imagine that number of super powerful beings wreaking havoc!
  14. My problem with Twilight is she'll learn a lesson and then immediately forget it. It's reaching Fluttershy levels of repetition. I mean, in the Hooffields and McColts episode revolved around the fact that there's no text-written formula or format for solving a friendship problem.. and how does she try and teach Starlight friendship? Lists galore. I get it, she's a straightforward intelligent character who thinks every solution lies in books, but they're really wearing that part of her out. The whole "I'm bored" and "I'm a princess but it's not what I thought it'd be" pity party she keeps throwing for herself gets annoying as well. Twilight is still probably one of my favorite characters, but I do not enjoy these recent developments for her.
  15. I would love it if it turns out Sunset was actually from the human world all along. She discovered the portal to Equestria at a very young age by accident and then lived a majority of her life in Equestria.
  16. Well, I can't speak for the others but I promise you I filled out the form well before I even posted here.
  17. I am completely fine with LGBT representation in MLP. I'm for it even. I wouldn't want any of the Mane Six in that type of relationship with each other, only because I think it would ruin the dynamic. Once you have romance involved in a group of friends things tend to become different very quickly. I'm fine for this to happen with minor characters. Heck, they're already practically implying this with Lyra and Bon Bon, both in the show and with their promotion. Plus, their interactions haven't been out of place or disconcerting in the slightest. It's actually very sweet. Yeah, I'm completely fine with it. :3
  18. You're very kind and artsy.. I'd have to say Treehugger.
  19. I completely agree with this. That's the main point I try to drive home whenever I'm discussing why I think Starlight is a much better character than Sunset. Yes, Sunset was the original in a sense, but that doesn't make her better. I also believe that Starlight's redemption was rushed, but that didn't completely prevent her arc from being saved to me. And they're making it work so far. Sunset: -Main motivation: Angry about not learning as much as she could extremely quickly, she gained a desire for power. -Goal: Rule the school and use Twilight's crown to reenter Equestria and take it over. -Redemption: Was defeated by Twilight and her friends in the human world, offered a chance to do good instead of evil. -Repercussions: None Starlight: -Main motivation: After being abandoned by her best friend once he got his Cutie Mark, Starlight became extremely bitter and formed an equalist philosophy. -Goal: Get rid of Cutie Marks so that nobody could be superior to anybody else; get revenge on Twilight by reshaping the timeline. -Redemption: Had the upper-hand, but accepted Twilight's offer of friendship and is now her student. Repercussions: None Alright, we both know that the two of them pretty much got off scot-free, so that's a noticeable flaw that they both share, but as for the others.. Many people are upset with Starlight's "lame motivation," but what about Sunset? At least the writers tried with Starlight. They gave her a backstory, and they gave her a reason for being a villain besides a cliche desire for power. Sunset was driven by extreme emotions of anger, Starlight was driven by anger, but she was also driven by a sense of idealism. Between the two of them, Starlight certainly has the better excuse for why she became evil (that doesn't necessarily justify it 100%, but it is the better of the two for sure). Sunset did what she did for the sake of herself and what she wanted. Starlight truly believed her philosophy that everybody should be equal. In her mind, that's what would have been best for everybody. In that regard, she's a more interesting villain than Sunset Shimmer. What did Sunset really do or have in store that was interesting beyond the typical school bully archetype? Finally, I believe Sunset's redemption was far worse. The second she was defeated she was offered friendship by Twilight and the others. And there had been nothing that indicated she had any positive traits prior. She was manipulative, controlling, rude, and overall unpleasant. Unlike Starlight, she never showed promise as a redemptionee until her redemption was already over, Meanwhile, Starlight was completely in an advantageous situation. Twilight knew she couldn't beat her, and Starlight was literally seconds from completing her plan. Yes, Twilight talked her out of it, but that was a two-way street. Starlight could have just as easily finished tearing up the spell as she did accept Twilight's friendship. I don't believe it would have been the same way with Sunset. Sunset seemed to go for her goal no matter what, and never once listened to reason. And if she would have accepted, there is literally no backstory to suggest that there was something Twilight could have said to change her mind. Starlight was completely in control of the situation, and gave up her desire for complete equality and revenge for friendship. We even know she expected a punishment, which could have been imprisonment or possibly even worse. She was prepared to be punished, taking the chance of friendship instead of a world where everything turned out in her favor and she would have been free of consequences. If anything, we should be angrier at Twilight for giving her some leeway, not Starlight. But even then, Twilight had good reason to extend a hoof. The most obvious being that if she tried anything else, she couldn't have stopped Starlight. Starlight was clearly superior in magical ability, but Twilight had the best magic of all, the magic of friendship. This is just my reasoning, though. I'm not trying to force my opinion down anyone's throat. You're all free to prefer whomever you like. :3
  20. So, Sunset got angry and gained a superiority complex and moved to the human world to take it over.. and human Sunset got angry and gained a superiority complex and has moved to Equestria and is in hiding, biding her time? This is the story I never knew I wanted. It's like reverse Friendship Games.
  21. Friendship Games had touched upon Twilight's human counterpart, but how about Sunset Shimmer. I know they most likely won't go into it in future movies since we already had that plot with human Twilight, but it still begs the question: where is Sunset's human counterpart? Sunset was originally from Equestria, so logically there has to be another version of her somewhere in that universe. And unlike Twilight, who the human Pinkie knew about, nobody seems to have recognized Sunset at all. Is it just presumed Sunset's counterpart lives far away?
  22. The Mane Six trust her, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're on the best of terms with her. We've seen that Twilight considers her a friend, and that's it. She's been keeping her distance from the Mane Six and sticking close with the member she's known the most. Heck, I'm the finale none of the other members even interacted with her (unless you count the song, but I have my own 2 cents on that for another day). Plus, Twilight is the one who directly gave her a chance and considered her to change her ways. Twilight is Starlight's biggest influence and motivator as of now. I prefer this way rather than having them force Starlight onto the others' own stories. I mean, with Fluttershy's brother coming sometime this season that's a source of development by its own right. I also feel this way because of Spike's line in the premiere, "Well Twilight obviously thinks you're worth being friends with, and I do too." Are we forgetting the other mane five? Or are Twilight and Spike the only ones who've made an effort with Starlight and had Starlight return the courtesy? I've no doubt in my mind that we'll get Starlight interaction with the others, but for now I can see why they're building up her relationship with Twilight specifically.
